The Unhoneymooners - Christina Lauren

This was the right amount of enemies-to-lovers and slow-burn romance for me.

I was a bit frustrated at the ending, though. Some things are happening, and the main character gets thrown under the bus, essentially trying to make things right. No one believes her (which was probably the point to make the reader feel something) until they eventually do. And then everything falls into place, and it's one big happy ending!

The Kiss Quotient Series - Helen Hoang

My rating: 4/5

This was a nice series. There are 3 books, The Kiss Quotient, The Bride Test, and The Heart Principle.

Of course, I enjoyed the first one the most because it was a new concept and incredibly sincere and sweet. I think I liked this series so much because its focus is on autism; the main character (in each book) has autism, and seeing them navigate through life and eventually relationships is a different perspective I enjoyed.

All of these books are short and sweet. Definitely has slow-burn vibes throughout all of them and checks the romance box.

The Spanish Love Deception - Elena Armas

This book was cute and an easy read. I read this because I was in Spain and had recently discovered that I like modern romance novels. They make me feel giddy inside.

I wouldn't say this is one of my all-time favorites, but it was still a good read. This is a perfect find if you enjoy romance books, especially enemy-to-lovers and slow-burn romances.

The Love Hypothesis - Ali Hazelwood

My rating: 5/5 stars

I loved this book. I could not put it down and ended up reading it in 1 sitting. It was such a cute and fast read.

Definitely more cheesy romance than anything, so if that's not your forte, then move along.

I think I also read this at a depressive point in my life (I was living abroad and was very sad/homesick/lonely) which may add to why I like it so much. But this book is one of my favorites.

Throne of Glass Series - Sarah J. Maas

I love this series. I purchased them all so that I can have them forever. From start to finish, it is beautiful, complex, humorous, and badass. The list could go on.

The world-building is phenomenal, and the story is fantastic. I love how it's not just about Celaena (aka, Aelin) throughout the entire series. As we progress, more characters come into the picture and eventually become either part of her court or are really good friends/allies.

My only negative is how the entire series ends after the final battle in Kingdom of Ash. Everyone just packs up and goes their separate ways. It's a happy ending (except for Manon's Thirteen, RIP), but they save the world and get to live harmoniously.

The size of each book and the amount of books in this series is daunting, but it's definitely worth the read.

The Selection Series by Kiera Cass

I read part of this series in 2021. After reading the first book, The Selection, I was so excited for the rest of the series.

The world is dystopian and the main character, America, get's selected for essentially 'The Bachelor'. The series is about her going through this and essentially getting chosen to marry The Bachelor, aka the Prince, Maxon.

I really liked the concept of the book when it first began; it has promise. I was worn out by the third book, and maybe the author was too. It felt rushed along, and loose ends were tied up abruptly.

I finished reading 3 of the books, and I'm pretty sure there are more, but I have no interest in reading them. Maybe if I was younger, I would love this series.

The Sanatorium - Sarah Pearse

My rating: 4/5 stars

I liked this book. It was short enough that it didn't take too long to read but long enough that it still took some time.

I'm kind of frustrated with myself because, throughout the book, I thought I had it all figured out. I think it was intended that way; a new lead comes to light, you think you know who's behind it, but then things shift and whatever you thought you knew was explained and made perfect sense afterward. I seriously thought that several different people were behind it at some point throughout the book, which is infuriating but also I think that's just good writing.

Everything was developed methodically and at a nice pace. A few grammatical errors here and there, but overall a nice book! I enjoyed the mystery.

A Court of Silver Flames (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #4) - Sarah J. Maas

I struggled to get through this book. I wanted to know what happened, which is why I finished it.

I was annoyed with the Dread Trove. Like, OF COURSE, there are other powerful, magical things that appear out of no where for this book. Of course there are more powerful enemies that have come out of the shadows.

I was frustrated with most of the sex scenes, but I think that’s just a personal preference. The explicit language was off-putting, but it didn’t ruin the book. I think this has to do a lot with repeating words. Mate is an example of a word that is majorly overused in this entire series.

I loved Nesta’s character development. We got to see what went on in her mind, how she managed it and ultimately grew from it. How she found love (we allllllll knew Cassian was her mate, c’mon now) and her family, through her sisters and the court, and also the Valkyries. I loved watching the growth between Nesta, Emerie, and Gwyn. And I really enjoyed reading them being thrown into the Blood Rite.

I dislike how Nesta gave most of her powers back to save Feyre and Nyx, and ultimately Rhys. Nesta had SO MUCH POTENTIAL to be even more badass than she became before the final chapters. Once again, a book is dedicated to Rhys and Feyre.

Overall, it was fine. I don’t think I’ll ever come back to this and say, “I want to read this again."

I started reading this beauty today! I’m kind of sad it’s a hardcover copy; all of my other books in this series are paperback, which I prefer. I really wanted to read this since it recently came out, so I decided to just go ahead and buy this edition.

I’m very nervous. I love Feyre and Rhysand, and I crave more or their story, ESPECIALLY how A Court of Frost and Starlight ends. I’m really excited, however, to read about Nesta and Cassian. It’s a refreshing point of view.

This book is THICCCC; 751 pages in my copy. I’ll enjoy it while it lasts.
