“Of course I can do both, don’t worry. I’ll do my best to not hurt myself, but I can’t promise anything. Okay, I can do that, you’ll have to explain how to grade papers, when we get there, but everything else I can do. Could be fun, I guess.”
“I hope it will be. I mean... I’ve never taught kids before. I don’t know if I am patient enough for stupid questions.”

Sam groans, barely looking up. “Uh yeah, the school recommended this for me, but they must not know I’m a consistently C-level student. I thought this would be hands on exploration, that’s what I do, I fly through space. This is….” he makes a flurry of hand motions, a groan in displeasure of everything, and promptly lets his head drop back onto his desk with an as loud thud.
“I’m going to fail this class.”
“Well, maths and physics are based on logic and logic is something everyone can follow when they just concentrate,” Jane said giving him a stern look. “No one will fail my classes. I would suggest you start to sleep more and put your nose in some books. Come to me after the lesson and I will give you a list of books you can read. Believe me, you will not fail this if you don’t want to.”

“’Introduction to the Astral Plane’ and ‘Defense Against Dark Magic’, both with Dr. Strange. Also, I’m not entirely certain how I would describe my powers but it seemed to fit.” He didn’t like speaking in front of everyone else but he was curious and wanted to know. “I’m not very good with mathematics but…” he gestured around with his pencil vaguely trying to explain what he was thinking.
“You’re saying that things that don’t appear physically possible… more as if they’re spiritually possible… have a logical and calculable background. That the ‘rules’ of certain spells are defined by physics. Right?”
“Yes, this is exactly what I am trying to say,” Jane replied happy that her student seemed to have get the very basics. He seemed curious and that was a trait Jane loved in a person. “When you cast a spell or enhance your strength or whatever you do, it is always a process of turning energy into something else, which in return can be described by the laws of physics. It is a really complicated system and the mathematic system we know is not able to describe it yet. But the Asgardian system can but it will need some time until we are able to fully synchronise this new system with our own.
Does this answer your question? Or would you prefer to ask more questions when the lesson is over?”
“As ready as I can be. What do I have to do as your TA? Oh, you don’t mind if I take a few of the combat classes, right?”
“As long as you don’t neglect your task as my TA that is fine. But don’t break a bone! Anyway, just copy stuff, help me grade papers, do the computer stuff in the classroom and make sure it is all set up when I arrive. That kind of thing.”
Busted // Darcy & Jane & Loki
“Loki!” Jane chuckled feeling his hands on her waist the second she stepped through the door. Soon his thin lips found her neck wiping all logical thoughts from her mind. Standing in front of a class was really exhausting and her thoughts all too often wandered back to him, so this was a ‘welcome back home’ she throughly enjoyed.
Maybe a bit too much. The door remained unlocked as she stumbled with him to her bedroom her blouse and bra being thrown in the hallway and forgotten. “God, I missed you,” she breathed against his lips before catching them in a hungry kiss.

“I will.” Darcy sighed. “Well I didn’t think they’re too short, but maybe. I just didn’t want to wear leggings.”
“I am sure you will find something,” Jane said with a nod. “Are you ready to be my TA this semester?”

Sam is barely awake when he’s sitting at his desk, but he knows instantly that he regrets every choice he’s ever made. He’s in a daze, having pulled an all-nighter to stay up catching up on the Following. He’d found out about halfway through that the show had been cancelled, and had been instantly pissed off. But deciding to actually follow through on something he continued til 8am when he left for the showers and then to grab breakfast.
Honestly, he’d figured this class to be a breeze, something he could sleep through, but now…. now he was having every brand of regret you could find. He winds up falling forward, head hitting the desk with a loud groan. He just wanted to sleep, and take back the choice of taking this course.
He was going to fail.
Hard.
Jane jumped when she heard a loud thud coming from the back of the room. Her eyes immediately found the source of the noise and she couldn’t keep herself from laughing. Maybe this first assignment was too much? But the other students seemed fine. Besides it was a means to establish authority which was needed with a bunch of teenagers sitting in front of her.
“Uhm... red forehead, what is your name again? Do you have a problem?” She asked feeling the need to at least ask. It was expected of a good teacher to take care of their students, right?

Danny hunched over his notepad and scritch-scratched notes as she spoke. Concepts he could do. If she tested him on any mathematics beyond basic algebra he was dead. Yet, he had only just returned to Earth from ‘K’un-Lun, a mystical city whose gateway only manifests every ten years’ and if he could get any insight into the broader universe he existed in then he’d damn well try.
He wasn’t ready to let anything about K’un-Lun slip to the Institute, and as far as he could tell Professor Murdock was the only one who knew his actual origins beyond ‘Tibet’. And while he always understood the dynamics of his life in terms of magic, it seemed that this world took a more analytical than soulful view and he was prepared to adapt.
The only other student he recognized was Warren Worthington III. How could he not? Just pick up any copy of Business Week and you’d find some mention of the kid and his finances somewhere.
He focused back on Doctor– Miss Foster and the board, suddenly all-too aware he didn’t quite fit in here. Danny half-raised his hand. “So… um, Miss Foster. Just for reference for this class and others I’m taking, can science be applied to all magic-based concepts?”
A smile played on Jane’s lips as she heard the question and she couldn’t stop her mind from wandering off to Loki. The very man who was lying in her bed right now and who taught her the concept of magic. The question was made for her having just translated Asgardian maths into her own system. She was able to understand the physical side of what seemed like a wonder before.
“Yes, it can,” she finally replied feeling like she spend too long thinking of other things, “it requires a lot of work though and lots of knowledge about all kinds of mathematical systems. But just like everything in the world magic can be explained by the laws of physics. Transforming energy and matter. Although this class has nothing to do with magic. This is pure astrophysics. What other classes do you have that deal with magic?”
“Just Amazon for workout clothes…. It was your data. See. ” She pointed at the screen that had Jane’s data program on it. “I just needed a break.”
“It’s okay. As long as you get everything ready in time,” Jane shrugged looking at the clothes. “Don’t you think that is a bit short?”
“Sci-fi!? I can do Sci-fi! We’ll order pizza too. It’ll be great.”
“Okay, sounds great. I guess I will see you Friday then?”
“Oops.”
“No, problem. Just knock first next time. That would be great. Is there anything I can help you with?”

“Okay, class, welcome to: Travelling the Bifröst: The science behind Asgardian Travel. My name is Professor doctor Jane Foster but please just call me Miss Foster, that will be fine,” a loose strand of hair was pushed behind her ear before she continued, “I hope you will all understand that this class is not all fun and talk. Asgardian Travel Technology is based on complicated astrophysical concepts and you all need to get a grip on the basics by next week to be able to follow this class and to ultimately pass the exam at the end of this term.”
Turning around Jane grabbed a piece of chalk before beginning to write while she talked: “For next week I want you to do some basic research on:
1.) Einstein’s “Theory of relativity” - when? where? who? What impact did it have?
2.) Try to understand the basic concept of ‘spacetime’! - Take notes and be able to understand the basics.”
A smile was directed at the class. She knew this was a lot to do for their first assignment but it was not impossible. “Any questions regarding your assignment before we will continue?”
“Was I not express in who I was? A bit of both, perhaps,” he said, wriggling his fingers dismissively. “With your own title am I wrong to assume you have some intellectual capability?”
“Of course I have. Otherwise I wouldn’t be able to call myself ‘doctor’. Why do you ask? Where is this going?”
“I don’t know if I’m an official cat person, I like dogs too. I just feel bad for all the homeless kitties, so I’ll sometimes leave food out on my patio, but you can’t tell my land lady that.” Darcy shrugged. “Come on Jane, have you seen the little African penguins at the zoo, the way they waddle? Of course I like penguins. Anyway, we can watch a documentary long as it’s on something fun like animals or something; please not space. Unless you want me to fall asleep.”
“But space is exciting,” Jane mumbled but soon gave up on the idea. It wouldn’t be fun to watch something like that with her best friend anyway. “How about you just pick a movie. Maybe something sci-fi? Would be great.”
“Just finishing up entering the data from the other day.” She clicked out of the Amazon window that she’d just pulled up. “Be done in a sec.”
“No, that didn’t look like my data. What were you looking at?” Jane asked curiously and took a few steps closer to her friend.
