Catching up on season two of The Leftovers, so you know I haven't been sleeping well.
Related, things I've been saying: I don't understand what's going on. Well that's mysterious. Where did it go!? This is just like the damn bagel. Now that's missing too! (About the ending in Episode 7): WHOA WHOA WHOA...
Favorite restaurant for lunch, local book shopping, favorite coffee shop, groceries in the fridge, no negativity can affect me today.
First world problem
I now only have TWO copies of the first two Girl with the Dragon Tattoo books. Gotta give a two-thirds set away. My direct deposit just landed and I was going to buy the third book on Amazon ($.01 plus $3.99 shipping from a Goodwill store) but I'm not sure if the paperback is the same size as the rest of the set and it's past midnight and I refuse to find a ruler and measure it and how the hell don't I know approximate measurements like seven inches...
If politicians/people should wait a “respectful amount of time” after a mass shooting tragedy to give their opinion on how to improve gun control laws I guess nobody would ever have a chance to speak in America.
Get back on your horse
Alright, I was super bummed out yesterday that I didn't get the job offer. I definitely internalized it and kept thinking all of these negative things that weren't constructive at all. That carried over into this morning and I didn't really feel like getting out of bed. HOW WAS THIS USEFUL THINKING!? Short answer it wasn't. I'm back, I'm still alive, I've got plenty to offer. Let's go figure out something useful.
At least we made it out of the house today!
Vice 2
In hindsight it may have been over-ambitious to quit smoking cold turkey over thanksgiving (lol) and while waiting to hear back from a job opportunity.
Didn't get the job. I'll be in bed.
My coffee was a little more expensive than I think the reasonable price for beans is, but I like it. Of course tumblr made it sideways. Sorry. It's been a week (and a day) since my interview. They said they might have interviews running into this week, so I'm being patient, crossing my fingers, freaking out inside. Day two of non-smoking: sucks, man. There was another homeless guy yesterday morning, only this time he was inside the hallway, not out on the porch. I'm about to have a not-so-nice conversation with the across the hallway neighbors about the importance of keeping the damn door shut.
Vice
I stopped drinking (976 days ago) and started smoking again. Then I got an ecig so I could stop smoking. Now I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm down to 0% nicotine (during Thanksgiving and black friday weekend!? Really dude!?) and I know I'll feel better in a week without being dependent on it, but at the moment I'm not feeling it.
My neighbor put up wind chimes.

Windstorm 2015
You may not have heard about it, but it was nuts. I slept through most of it because it was loud and windy outside and no way is that conducive to a calm relaxing day off. Hundreds of thousands of people lost power starting Tuesday, and there are still thousands of people and businesses without power today. Luckily we only had some flickering of lights. I'm not sure how that happened, but I'm going to chalk it up to luck and not anything to do with the house being built in 1907. Some people are handling it better than others, the power outage. Those without a way to charge devices or take a hot shower, I can't even imagine. As for the businesses without power, I'm glad I only missed half a day of work. If I didn't work for a week (and maybe longer; there really isn't any indication of when everything will be back to 100%) then I wouldn't have been able to either buy groceries, pay rent, or pay bills. I probably would have resorted to selling the last chunk of my favorite movies I've been holding on to.
Interview results
My interview went really well this morning. I had two interviewers because there are positions available in departments that are closely related. But now how do I let them know that I'd be more interested in the other job that I didn't apply for? It is a 100 million dollar startup company that is local. So that's pretty cool. They've been around for seven years, but their recent growth has been exponential. Like, it's huge. I'd be really excited to work there full time, but what if I still want to hold on to one of my other jobs part time? Working two semi-part-time jobs is difficult enough. At least with this new opportunity they have a pretty relaxed schedule. I thought about it all morning and into this afternoon and needed a nice little Fallout break to totally get it out of my mind. I should hear back in a week to a week and a half. Stay tuned.
Trying on outfits for my interview tomorrow.
Windstorm 2015
The power in most places is out, including work. My shift yesterday got cut, had a three-store DM visit in the dark this morning, and I'm missing a six hour shift at the other job. One of my tires is finally on its last leg. I have an interview on Friday morning and need to get a haircut before then, but should probably figure out my tire situation first. I don't get paid until Friday.
