Was he sure? He had felt such resolve upon walking into the council chamber, the likes of which he hadn’t felt as a Jedi for a long time (how ironic he should only feel it once again in his final hours as one). Yet as he looked the Masters in the eye, that resolve had threatened to crumble. But he had steeled himself and declared that he was finally leaving. Leaving the Order he had been a part of for nearly all his life. The announcement had clearly disturbed Mace, and Yoda…Dooku was not sure what he had thought. Then again, he had not always been completely certain of what crossed his diminutive Master’s mind.
Sure are you…he considered it as he stood there in one of the temple’s many halls, not yet facing the being who had taught him almost everything he knew. Should he leave? Was it still too late? But then he remembered what he had told Senator Palpatine; his promise to leave if another Jedi died for a purely political matter. Qui-Gon had been that Jedi. And Dooku was a man of his word. And he still remembered the snows of Galidraan, the acrid smell of blaster fire, and the sight of the Mandalorian warrior who had slaughtered so many of his fellow knights…with his bare hands…
“Yes.” He finally turned to Yoda, ensuring his expression did not reveal the small part of him which regretted saying so. Instead he kept his expression calm, neutral - the face of a Jedi. “I no longer have any place here. This has always been my home, but now I am too big for it. The way things are…I cannot stand idly by with the galaxy in this state. I will not repeat my misgivings; you have heard them often enough, and I would not wish us to part on bad terms.”
how could he DENY him the freedom to walk, to create his OWN PATH ? if the order was not for dooku did he as his FORMER MENTOR have the right to say NO ? no, he didn’t & he KNEW THAT & as the grand master, as the one that the jedi looked up too. as the one to show the PERFECT EXAMPLE, yoda could not allow himself to SHOW his breaking heart. & as easy air left the green alien in a sigh of disbelief & in a disappointment that he could not mask. yoda was SURE that the others would sense his dismay, sense his GREIF. but he smiled weakly, brown hues stare fondly over the jedi to leave. MEMORIES from their time TOGETHER making his smile grow with warmth, & his WISH for dooku to have a safe life. ❝ then go you must master dooku, find a shell that fits you. but know that welcomed back you will always be. ❞
