Hunting for Shiny Pokemon

This Kotaku post explores the subculture of “shiny-hunting”: replaying Pokemon battles over and over until you can capture the super-rare, otherwise-super-meaningless “shiny” variant of each Pokemon. The chances of a shiny spawning in any normal Pokemon encounter are 1 in 1,046.

Cathal McCartan, the guy in the above video, finally found a shiny Mewtwo after 40,755 attempts.
