i think there is a statue of grace. on the campus of the university where he got his phd. it's a big base, like the statue atop it is going to be a larger than life hero standing brave. but instead it is him, life size, sitting with his feet dangling off the edge and turned slightly to the side like he is in conversation.

there is room to sit next to him. students like to hop up and sit next to dr. grace to get advice, vent, just take a minute. he's a friend to all on campus

i keep thinking about these little linguistic limitations between Grace and Rocky. like sure, by the end they don't need the translator anymore, they learned each other's languages and they can just talk. except they cant. they're physically unable to speak each other's languages. they just understand.

now, if you have any experience with multilingual brains, theres something very funny that happens where you just sort of stop telling the difference between your languages and start saying unhinged shit by accident.

basically what I'm getting at is Grace just casually talking to Rocky and in the middle of the sentence he lets out the most curs'ed screech imaginable to both human and eridiankind trying to pronounce an eridian word that made perfect sense in his head.

needless to say that it is, in fact, entirely incomprehensible to Rocky.
