 Different People: The Irish TravelersThe Irish Travellers are an ethnic or social group with about 50,000 worldwide, about 7,000 of these live in the U.S.. They actually came to the United State in the 1840s after the famine when most of the Irish migrated here. We have a group of them in my own town, here in Texas and they live in a trailer park right down the street from me. But if I never meet any of them I really could not tell if what they seem to be like everyone else. The Irish Travellers original heritage of the question, but in Ireland they are considered nomads or Gypsys and was referred to in Gaelic as "The Walking People". Some say they were persecuted by Oliver Cromwell when the Protestants took over Northern Ireland. Supposely, their taken away from them because they were Catholics who forced them to be outcasts and this started his walk itinerant ways, but this has never been confirmed.The travelers have their own language called "Shelter" which is derived from the Irish Gaelic. Their particular language, however, is divided into two distinct groups "Gammon" and "Cannot" that goes back before the 1700th There is no standard Gaelic, however, as it is sometimes spoken backwards or mixed up to confuse someone who really understands Gaelic.They also has its own music and manners, rather than being in the area where they live. The travelers are living by their own set of rule, they do not recognize most of the governments and for this reason they are considered sort of "outlaws" with a bad reputation. They have been accused of many things from scamming other people, extortion, and even theft. Some of them have really been criminals, but most are hard working and take good care of their families, but prefer to think of their own activities. Many of them are handy with tools and can make their own sometimes. Unfortunately, their children rarely have time to obtain a formal education, except in how their clan, as they move around a lot. The Irish Travellers usually Roman Catholic and as such is about the welfare of their children as a whole. Although it was a case recently in the news that the accused, a woman beating her child in an Ohio parking lot. The case was dismissed later.

The Importance of Travel Phrase Books

 When you visit a foreign country where the inhabitants speak a language other than the language that you speak fluently, it is recommended that a travel phrase book for that particular land. A travel phrase book features important words and phrases in language (s) of that particular land. I saw the following incident during my first trip to Europe in late 1990, in which a travel phrase book was not part of the equation: E 'was an early start to my first day in Paris, France. I was having breakfast in my hotel. A pair of English was next to my dining table, when the woman called the server over to his table. For the next minute, he tried to tell the male waiter he wanted some orange juice, but it was soon obvious that the waiter had no idea what he was talking about, mainly because these guests could not speak French. They also did not have a travel phrase book in French. The traveler spoke with a lady that I also truly distinctive accent difficult to understand why the last syllables of the words were spoken French silently.As result of this "dis-connection ', irritation was built in the woman's voice with each subsequent attempt for that elusive glass of liquid vitamin C. Enough to know the key phrase or word root to get on your way to communicate with the locals, and be willing to help those travelers who try to talk with their speeches! As guests in foreign lands, it is our responsibility to be oriented in the languages of the local people, not vice versa. Never assume that everyone comes into contact with a trip to a foreign land will understand your language. Take the case of travel phrase book!
