It drives me insane that the show frames Conrad’s certainty about Belly’s feelings as something romantic. He’s literally 100% sure she loves him — that’s why he crashed her wedding and told everyone he knew she’d run off into the sunset with him. That’s why right after sex he told her she’s “stuck with him forever.” That’s why he doesn’t even bring up Jere — like, excuse me, she was with him for FOUR YEARS??? Yet Conrad is so arrogantly confident that none of it mattered, that she’s always loved him, and he can take her back whenever he feels like it.

“She was my girlfriend first.”

And we’re supposed to buy that as some kind of epic love? No. That’s not romantic at all. That completely erases the idea of consent. The idea that her feelings and choices should actually matter.

Nope — he just knows she loves him. No need to discuss it, no need to respect her decisions. He can push, pressure, stalk, and pursue her, because hey — he’s her “destiny.”

Guys, how is this beautiful? Or am I missing something here?

I understand that bnrd are book endgame so they were gonna be show endgame but the way season 3 was written, in my opinion it made more sense for bellyjere to be the endgame.

Bnrds endgame was built on childhood nostalgia, the crush belly had as a little girl, and who she was "supposed to be with"

Bellyjere was built as a present-tense relationship between young adults who know each other in the now. It didn't rely on childhood dreams to build it up.

we said the ring was perfect for belly and that she loved it = belly ran through paris and kicked a man’s ass for it and called it “priceless” on screen

we said laurel has shown favouritism towards conrad at the expense of her own daughter’s happiness and giving af about jeremiah = laurel was called out for this in this episode

we said everyone would be happier if conrad left to california = canon confirmed this + conrad said himself he ruined everything

we said conrad was vindictive and a horrible older brother = he said ONSCREEN that he prayed for bellyjere’s downfall and wanted jeremiah to break

that fanbase’s ability to bend the narrative and selectively remember scenes while ignoring 90% of context just to justify conrad’s behaviour will never not make me laugh. “why are they so mean to him” “no one comforted him” “jeremiah is the villain” mind you, conrad ruined EVERYTHING, said himself he ruined everything ONSCREEN, and is suffering the direct consequences of his own actions, and they’ve still managed to ignore 99% of context to make him the victim. i’ve never seen such shameless delusion, denial, and misogyny like this before in fandom.

now they’re saying it’s bad mental health representation because conrad did it “because of depression” and it’s not fair to him to blame him for that. quick question guys - have you ever intentionally sabotaged your younger brother’s life and admitted to wanting to break him and praying for his downfall because of depression? because i certainly haven’t! “mental health” doesn’t mean you can’t be held accountable for your harmful actions. conrad blew up jeremiah’s engagement and everything he had in a day, admitted it to adam, and somehow .. CONRAD is the victim here???? meanwhile when you bring up belly’s mental health and grief or jeremiah’s mental health and grief it’s … crickets. yeah, that’s what i thought.
