When Playing A Spellcaster
Personalize your spells! Each spellcaster has something that makes a spell uniquely theirs! The arcane gestures are not always the same, and CERTAINLY the effects of the spell (visually) are not always the same! A Fireball spell cast by one mage might be a roaring bead that explodes when it hits its mark. Another caster might lob a crackling ball of blue fire that explodes in glittery flames! When a cleric of life cures someone’s wounds, perhaps their hand glows and the skin is left perfect, the way it once was, but a cleric of war’s healing closes the wound, but leaves a scar, as though it at healed naturally over time.
Be creative, and don’t be afraid to describe what your spells look like!
AND FOR FUCKS’ SAKE, NECROMANCY SPELLS SHOULD BE PERSONALIZED.
Revivify? Raise Dead? Resurrection? These spells should be very unique as story elements. A cleric whose holy symbol is a bell? They should be heavily incorporated into the audible effects of the spell, if not the somatic components! These small touches make for more interesting characters.
And when creating undead? Why would every necromancer do the same thing? Some necromancers exhale over the corpses, breathing undeath into them. Others channel shadow into them, reanimating them. Others pull spirits from elsewhere, placing them inside the corpse.
characters who have an unwavering sense of duty my beloved
stop stop it’s going to turn into a fatal flaw!
i like the concept of soulmates—not a “you’re destined to meet me, and love me” kind of soulmate, but a “i’d pick you, every time.” kind of soulmate. a “no matter what happens, and what has happened, i want to go through it with you.” kind of soulmate. a “i love you by choice, and you’re a blessing, and i’m going to continue thinking about you this way not because i have to but because i want to.” kind of soulmate. a “you help me rest easy when everything is difficult” kind of soulmate. a “in every possible outcome, i want you there, to share it with me.” kind of soulmate.
The hopeless romantic fell in love with the realist and neither have been the same way since.

Types of intelligence for your OCs
What kind of intelligence does your character posses? Based on theory of multiple intelligences, these are some ideas what kind of smarts your characters might posses that aren’t the typical academic or street smarts.
1. Visual-spatial (space smart)
These people are good at visualizing things, seeing in 3D, being able to imagine how things look even out of sight from the information they have abut it. They are good with directions, maps, charts and pictures. Good eye for drawing, patterns and puzzles.
Especially useful for: architects, engineers, artists, pilots
2. Linguistic-verbal (word smart)
The ability to use words well, when writing and speaking. Typical strenghts are telling stories, memorizing information, love for reading, skill with words, great debating and persuasive skills, great at explaining of complicated subjects. Also tend to be great at languages.
Especially useful for: writers, journalists, lawyers, teachers, public speakers
3. Logical (reasoning smart)
Not necessarily but possibly mathematical, these people are great at reasoning, pattern recognition and logical analysis. Enjoyment for abstract thinking and ideas, excellent problem-solving skills and logical argumentation are other common traits. Pattersn, categories, relationships.
Especially useful for: mathematicians, accountants, scientists, and detectives.
4. Bodily-kinesthetic (body smart)
Great hand-eye and movement cordination, physical movement, often skilled at sports, dancing and creating things with their hands. Learn and remember rather by doing than listening or reading. Sense of timing and mind-body union excellent.
Especially useful for: dancers, sculptors, actors, athletes, surgeons, crafts people, soldiers, police officers
5. Musical (sound smart)
Sensitive listeners. Thinking in patterns, recognizing rhythms, notes and melodies, good at remembering tunes, these people often enjoy singing or playing instruments. Often show great understanding of musical structure and know quickly when they hear someone going off-key.
Especially useful for: musical teachers, composers, musicians,
6. Interpersonal (people smart)
These people are very good at understanding and interacting with others. From verbal to non-verbal communication, they are great at assessing motivations, moods and desires of others and seeing things from multiple perspectives. Great communicators, create postive relationships with others easily and solve group dynamics and group conflicts well. Also enjoy discussions, debates and teamwork.
Especially useful for: psychologists, counselors, salespeople, politicians, philosophers, teachers, managers, team leaders
7. Intrapersonal (self smart)
The opposite of interpersonal smarts is the intrapersonal intelligence, where people are very in tune with themselves and their feelings. They are honest with themselves, enjoy self-reflection, analysing theories and ideals, love daydreaming, and show great self-awareness and assessment of their own strenghts and weaknesses.
Especially useful for: writers, philosophers, theorits, scientists
Bonus types:
8. Creative (ideas smart)
People that show great curiousity, get inspired by little things around them and connect ideas and concepts in an unsual way. It’s a more feeling-based, spontaneous type of intelligence that gets less recognition, but brings immense benefits in all fields.
Especially useful for: artists, marketers, scientists, concept artists,
10. Abstract (concept smart)
Drawn to abstract ideas, these people enjoy deep discussions, don’t like to settle on one truth and ask questions that have no easy or no answer at all. Connecting, conceptualizing, analysing, listening and putting things together, they are great at seeing things from a distance, seeing the whole and not just the pieces.
Especially useful for: scientists, philosophers, researchers, theorists, designers, analysts

to use this template you must have basic knowledge of photoshop, clipping masks and the shapes tool (to alter fill colour). the psd comes blank and contains multiple customisable layers; the fonts used are cocogoose (regular and demibold) and roboto.
do not steal this template. be sure to give credit if you use! you’ll find the link to the download in the source.

template 001 - character psd
enough folks on the discord were asking for a copy of this template so i figured i’d make it public! this character dev template is inspired by genesys character sheets and wiki articles, and has lots of room for customization if you’re familiar with photoshop. you can switch up the traits or abilities listed on the third page, and of course you can add some color in there if it suits your needs.
the font i use throughout the template is sf pro, which you can get for free [here], but if that download doesn’t work, a font like montserrat or any sans serif will do the job just fine <3
