the carlos loss streak felt worse to me because he was on top of the head to head before that and was virtually unbeatable against everyone else. (btw I am a jannik fan so I don't understand the "doesn't have a wrist comment" from the person responding) - also really sorry if this sends twice. tumblr is being a bit odd.

5 losses on the bounce is bad. 2024 was considered a poor form year for carlos but he never once lost to jannik even when he had a subpar forehand/recovery from arm injury at RG. If you consider one H2H losing streak (6 against medvedev) "a prison" then I don't really see why 1 match fewer is not.

I'm saying this with immense bias but in his losing streak against daniil, 3 of those were in straight sets and all of these spanned across 4 years. with his losing streak against carlos the margins were razor thin, so i gotta give carlos his flowers for actually winning, but by all means jannik didn't "take the belt"

janniks rivalry matches are so interesting because starting to turn round the h2h with medvedev aligns so cleanly with when he started taking the belt from carlos.

yes i agree with the alignment in the beijing-2023-really-is-THAT-tournament way.

and i'm sorry for nitpicking, but i don't think it's that clean of an alignment considering that he didn't face both of them in the same tournament since! and again, sorry for nitpicking, but "taking the belt" is pushing it when 4/5 of the 5-match losing streak against him went to a deciding set :3 (a win is a win I KNOWW but. .. it wasn't for lack of trying :( as jannik would say, mah. things like this- it happens, no?)
