i would like to discuss alan of the nancy drew diaries duology. because im trying to envision his trial and stuff and it feels really..interesting. firstly i do quite enjoy that we had a whole series of culprits that muddied up the original mystery. but this guy. so a lot of what he did was silly stuff that just threw nancy off. not great, but not awful. the note is like, debatably a threat. prob not chargeable. but then we have the moose incident. provable? as like intent to harm and enough to prosecute? unsure. the broken glass on the seat. obv thats smth, idk what. but the moose incident is where im stuck. so we have him luring her to being between/too close to moose mama and baby and not helping her up, hoping they hurt her/kill her. throwing rocks at the baby moose (prob some kind of crime?? idk) how do we think they charge him and what with? do we think he'd get convicted? there's the recording of him admitting to thing but what exactly. and tobias/nancys/wendys testimony. honestly his worst move was being blatant about trying to get revenge on nancy and her dad while they were taking him away bc why would you not be denying shit !!! but im unsure how exactly you go yes without a reasonable doubt he was trying to kill nancy w this or even harm her. murder by moose? maiming by moose? very complex. does anyone have thoughts

i know they're quite a diff style from nancy drew but i have rlly not felt like games where i have to take notes lately so I've been playing murders on the yangtze river rn :-) similar vibe to ace attorney in gameplay and takes place in early 20th century China and teaches u things ab China/the crim justice system/forensics/general history along the way (but not overbearing) also. I'm waiting til I finish so I don't get spoiled but I know the gay fanart of the mc and his assistant is soooo bountiful

ok im committed to reviewing these now sooo

objectively did a better job of introducing multiple options for puzzle solutions

appreciated the motives in this one so much more because one guy i wasn't even gonna be mad at

they got more inventive with puzzles which was much appreciated

story improvement but it needed editing bad. so many spelling errors and grammar/pov issues

super cute gang moments so thats #appreciated. prob the best so far?

aaand i did this one this morning

- they give you a better suspect pool so it's not so obvious and feels more fleshed out

- all the puzzles are actually doable in this one 🙌

- there's a little more personality to this one tho still overshadowed by shaggy and scooby in an unbalance way

- no mention of the cyclops wearing the same shirt as one MC kinda annoys me even if it's a red herring. address it !!!

- more defined clues? like i think it was overall better done

- i think it would be nice if future ones mixed up order of suspects and clues and had the monster appear earlier bc they feel a lil emptier the way its done!

the motive was rlly goofy and both of these so far, the person being threatened or having their business impeded by the monster came to an amicable solution w the culprit, and while that's nice, at the very least this person should've been asked to leave?? idk

finished this recently so mini review??

- the Only people you meet other than the guy being threatened is your suspect pool which kinda makes some puzzles too obvious

- one puzzle is straight up incorrect/the key is different from the actual puzzle (i hate this lol)

- extremely goofy mystery that was overall fun

- felt quite obvious but also im a 23 year old and not a child, so

- fairly ok conclusion?? idk this is not a novel post

basically it was enjoyable for what it was however could've used some fine tuning and also just more potential suspects and so on!

finished nancy drew the palace of wisdom!! some thoughts

- I wish it was like 1 or 2 issues longer so we got more clear investigation bc it felt lacking

- some things aren't explained or cleared up (how did someone knock out ALL OF THEM at once basically??) and I wish they were. confused!

- love Joe x Bess in this and Bess in general

- very cute art style and I enjoyed them a lot

- wish there was a continuation w how it ended!! i know there are some Hardy Boys by the same company and im not sure that it's that? I'm curious about them though so we'll see

i will say while Nancy and Pete have some cute moments i am unsure i'd be able to get past getting a letter being like hey your mom is DEAD what would your DEAD mom have to say about you if she wasn't DEAD huh???? even if he felt bad after and even if he climbed out of a cave / up a cliff with me holding onto him. sorry esp since his mom is dead too you'd think we'd be a little less harsh on the 🚨🚨 DEAD MOM DEAD MOM 🚨🚨 thing. like damn. tho very Nancy in the games behavior I will say
