On Writers Block
uuuuuuuugggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I’ve had an idea for a script for ages, but I’ve managed to write barely any of it, now I finally feel a degree of inspiration to write and I’ve just run out of antihistamines, can’t get more for a couple of days and am sneezing too much to focus. Ironically, this writers block ha given me an idea for something to write o here for the first time in months. Today’s moral: every cloud has a silver -snotty- lining
I bought a cake today. Today was a good day.

Doctor Who Series 10 predictions
It's going to be a housekeeping series, the running theme will be wrapping up the loose ends and mysteries of previous series. We'll see the fate of Simm!Master, one of the teaser animations from the official YouTube channel showed what looked like Vesuvius erupting, hinting we'll finally get the big reveal behind Capaldi's recurrences (I know we have an explanation for the Doc looking like Caecillius, but Moffat claims there is an explanation that fits in with Davies' plan linking Caecillius and Frobisher). Plus one of the planets in the first trailer looks quite a lot like the nameless planet from the Army Of Ghosts opening montage. On a more meta level, it makes sense for Moffat to tidy things up ready for the next guy (he does like his callbacks and multi-series arcs), similar to Davies bringing back all his era's companions a couple of times at the end of his run. Further prediction: Bill's going to be spectacular & Simm and Gomez are going to have a lot of fun (especially if they get to play off each other, rather than just having a regeneration scene)
Fuckin' Sharks Man
Last year @amillennialsmusings wasn’t really sure what she wanted to do career wise, maybe acting, maybe writing, who knows. But then, kiddos, then she found some books. Some books on marine biology, and along with advanced higher biology in school, she was reminded how cool sharks and squids and fishes and things are. In summary, books are awesome and so are sharks (and so is my buddy, but honestly I was going for more of a general point about how books and educators can inspire someone, y'know? But she’s still awesome)
Did I read a book? I don’t recall. I watched many a documentary. But books are still good.
Eh, you said books on Friday, idk

A vision of the future
I have a small flat or cottage, with a yellow sitting room and somewhere for all my books. I have my bachelors degree, and maybe a PhD. I might be teaching, or working in a lab. I have a cat, or maybe a dog. I could be in a relationship, or single. I’m eating healthily, and not eating dairy (because lactose intolerant). I have a pair of glasses that suit me (because that is going to be happening soon). I’m thinking about kids, maybe adoption, maybe no children, we’ll see. I bake my own bread, unless I’m living in Shetland, in which case I fork out for the bread there because it’s lovely. I’m paying off my student loans, slowly but surely.
I am happy.
Oh, hey. I have a personal blog. I hardly ever post anything, but when I do it’s here.
This is my blog for anytime I have an original thought, there's... not much there

A Vision Of The Future
I've got a good sized flat (maybe even a house) with a spare room I've converted into a library, and a cupboard full of filmmaking equipment, I teach a film class on Thursdays and help out with a youth theatre on Mondays and Tuesdays. Sometimes I make it back home to see a show, maybe even London once or twice. I live with a cat who loves to sit with me on the armchair in the library. My couch is always open to old friends who are in town for a couple of days, sometimes I might even be able to get a few friends together and crack out something from the tabletop gaming shelf. I have an allotment.
Dying Alone With Company
(Thank you @amillennialsmusings for the title, and most of the play) Millenial and I were set a task: write a short play, more a scene really, of the last conversation at the end of the world. Little did they know (muahahaha) that Millenial is an aspiring playwright, and I her part time editor/ occasion muse (the odd line here or there). Of the 8 groups set this task we also have the highest average age, and with age comes angst. Not only did we continue this task in our own time (we were given about ten minutes to make a start), we also chose to eskew the tropes of grand declarations of love, of acceptance in the face of oblivion and instead tell the story of two people coming to the conclusion that their lives have amounted to nothing (because if we can’t be angsty teens with that brief, when can we be?). For the record, my philosophy on the subject is that if the universe doesn’t care then fuck it, I will! Don’t really know why I decided to share this other than that I’m quite proud of the work we’ve done and can’t wait to see our director’s reaction.
The Breakfast Club
In my opinion one of the greatest films ever made, it takes a group of (often prominently) flawed individuals, and gives the audience an intimate enough introduction to them to see the characters behind the flaws. It shows us a group of young people who have been twisted and used by those trusted to raise them (Claire, Andrew, Brian), and those who have been told that they are worthless even as tools (John, Alison). These people have been shoved into boxes, and told what to think of the other boxes, but when given the opportunity they each learn to see the truth of one another. This is a form of rebellion, those entrusted with power can wield it against us because we do not see past the boxes, divided we fall. Although we cannot know whether those five kept that bond come Monday morning, we know that we must do.
Star Wars Character Archetypes
The Farmboy: our hero, grew up fairly cut off from the galaxy, so makes a great audience surrogate when we need brought up to speed on the main conflict: Luke, Anakin, Rey, Jyn
The Scoundrel: the most experienced of the three at making their way in the galaxy, though ignorant enough of the specific threat at hand to outlive the mentor, tends to have the smallest impact on the overall resolution of the three, but is likely a fan favourite: Han, Obi Wan, Poe, Cassian
The Princess: knows more of the galaxy than the Farmboy, but is still a stranger to the lifestyle of the Scoundrel. Has a degree of insider knowledge of the enemy (who they are rescued from in the first installment): Leia, Padmé, Finn, Bohdi
Villains bonus round:
The Bruiser: Vader, Maul, Grievous, Kylo, Vader (R1)
The Schemer: Emperor, Sideous, Snoake, Tarkin (R1)
The Face: Tarkin, Piett, Gunray, Dooku, Hux, Krennic (R1)
