I don't usually post anything about Mother's Day. Once your mom isn't here anymore, it becomes a darker, sadder day. But this year marks 10 Mother's Days since she died, so it seems appropriate. I shaved with all of my products today - pre-shave oil, brush and cream, and after-shave lotion. It might not seem like a big deal to most, but it is to me. I bought all this stuff 2 years ago for her. I used an electric razor for 20 years and when she complained about my face being scruffy, I bought all this stuff so my face could be smoother. I'm not proud of it, but I even lied when she asked me if I bought it for her or because I actually wanted it. Since our relationship ended, I haven't used them. Probably because I did it for her and it felt strange to use them now that she's not in my life anymore. And we aren't friends on social media anymore, so I know she won't see this. And that's ok, because today I chose to do it for me. I got my solid core door installed on my music room. Added 3 inch Roxul to the back and weather stripping all around so it should really help keep the noise down when I'm practicing drums. So I finally got the last 6 yards of burlap I need to finish my sound absorption panels to sound proof my music room. I tried dying it purple because the basic burlap beige is just boring. It got "purplish" I guess. Still better than beige. The person/people that lived here before me left this on my patio. The "art" that is there is only on the plastic surrounding the canvas. So if I tear off the plastic, I destroy their art, but I expose a blank canvas as well. It seems very cathartic - death and birth at the same time. It's been almost 2 months since I moved in. So I'm wondering if I can reclaim it now, tear off the plastic, and do my own painting/drawing/art/attempt at being creative outside of music.
