Empty Scotch Barrels, Ben Nevis Distillery, Scotland, U.K., August 2011.
A photo I took when visiting the Ben Nevis Distillery - during my honeymoon to Scotland last year.
This is one of the (few) Scotch Whiskeys that I was completely unaware of. But I’ve never been to a Scotch distillery before and I thought - who knows when I’ll be back in Scotland - so… [located here]
We actually saw this video at the beginning of our tour. Bring on the wine to go with this cheese.
We did test the Scotch - kind of rough - certainly no Johnny Walker Blue. I’d compare it to some of the cheaper 6-8 year Scotches that I’ve had. Not bottom shelf, plastic bottle cheap. But not that good either.
Here is Kristen trying it out - just to prove that she gave it a shot ;)
Yum, Yum - don’t let her expression taint your view of this Scotch - she’d probably make the same face with a 16 y.o. Lagavulin ;)

Church of Rodel, Outer Hebrides Photograph by Jim Richardson, National Geographic The 15th-century church of Rodel on the Isle of Lewis, built for the warlike chiefs of the MacLeods, towers over the sea lochs of Scotland’s Outer Hebrides. Nothing in early modern Britain, from its cities to its remotest corners, was more political than religion. The church in every parish—nearly always the most imposing building—was as much a symbol of worldly control as a shrine to God.
