Do you see yourself with kids in the near future?
“Optimistically speaking, yes. Yes, I do.”
What’s your favorite scent?
“I’d have to say it’s pretty much a tie between old books and lavender. Both just calm and comfort me greatly.”
iakyn‌:
“so like an architect dictionary?” she asked, looking back at him “it’s definitely confusing, i don’t know if i could keep up” she laughed softly as he came over to her. As he answered her question she shook her head slowly “i knew it.” she looked around to all he was gesturing to and tried to imagine a building as wide as it was tall “i mean that would basically be target right? but i guess they aren’t really trying to be tall.” Leaning back into him slightly she looked to the door “do, i mean well, do you want to go inside? is the inside just as exciting for you?” she asked, he didn’t know this little outing was mainly for him but in Lakyn’s mind it definitely was. He’d had to deal with her playing music at all hours, just messing around on the keyboard and guitar, he was forced to be immersed in her world and she wanted to dive into his headfirst and try to understand as much as she could “i mean i would assume so cause it’s not just like you guys design the outside, you kind of have to design the inside too” she reasoned aloud, looking at him for verification before taking a couple steps within the gates.
“If you look in our little library, I’m sure I still have the book of it from college.” Figuring she could take a look if she ever wished. Lips pursed for a quick moment then his head shook. “Yes and no... It’s a gothic style so the point is to be scaling and draw attention upwards towards the heavens and God, himself. That’s the general definition of it. But it didn’t have to be considered the tallest around, either, just for the sake of it. Finding her question both cute and rather odd. Many occasions they’d gone into places and he lit up, pointing out various details with a smile. “Yes? That’s part of the immersion.” He left it at that, wondering if perhaps she forgot or something else with all that was going on currently in her brain. He then helped lead her to the gateway so they could walk in where a few people were already moving in and out with phones and cameras in hand. “Did you want to take any pictures inside? I have to admit, I haven’t been inside myself, yet, but by how gorgeous the outside is, I’m anticipating the same in here.”
Angela was sitting at her favorite bar in Brooklyn, after two weeks away, flying to and from London, Paris, and Barcelona. “A double Johnnie Walker Black on the rocks, please,” she said to the bartender. She then turned to the person next to her, “Ugh, it’s been too long since we hung out last time, but that’s the pilot’s life for ya. So how have you been?”
Angela took a sip from her whiskey and replied, “Ah yes, the holiday season is always hectic, especially literally during Thanksgiving and Christmas. As per tradition, I’ll be flying my parents out this year for a belated Thanksgiving.”

His eyes kept to her lips. a tactic he used to keep up with conversation as he both listened and watched intently. “Oh, that sounds nice. How belated would that be?”
hollyxostone‌:
She watched as her own dogs went crazy in the pile of leaves, and noticed other dogs going crazy too. “Are all dogs this crazy about leaves?” She asked, laughing slightly at the sight in front of her.
His own was a bit more reserved. As eager as she was, she was on the more timid side when it came to new people and animals. keeping the the outerskirts to rub her face on. “Hm?” His head turned the the sound of the woman then grinned, looking back at the sight. “I think most do and who can blame them? It’s rather fun to just jump into a pile of leaves.”
sadie-ingram‌:
“Hey, mom and dad didn’t know the difference until you told them. Snitch,” she gave him a stern look, shaking her head. “I’m fine. Really. I might have to work anyway Hospitals don’t close on holidays. And I have the sitter I usually get when you’re working, so don’t worry. She’s gonna make sure they have a Thanksgiving meal because I don’t know when I’ll be working yet. Seriously, go and relax. Or relax as much as you can by being with her parents as her boyfriend.” Sadie smirked as she ran a hand through her hair. “Yeah, she gets a little off the rocker. I love her to death, but Lakyn during Christmas is a little scary. I actually have a good amount of shopping done, thanks to Amazon Prime. I just need to get the things that just came out that they want. We’ll see.”
“I don’t think they were that convinced in the first place, Sadie.” The older sibling released a fond laugh. Those memories and many more were so precious to him and it was a nice feeling thinking how his niece and nephew could hopefully share the same dynamic of closeness they did. His smile faded, although he understood, he still wished circumstances were a bit different for her. “You think they’ll approve of me?” It was best not to tell her how she deserved a break as he so often did. “You know the stories of her mother. If only they’d both just sit down and really talk. Get all those things out and in the air to discuss but she prefers to avoid which just makes it that much worse.” A heavy sigh broke his words. “I’ll try my best, though. As for the gifts, you can just have them shipped to our place. Save on transfer and all that.” Her words of Lakyn’s holiday spirit rang all too truly. “She’s already talked about me becoming S-A-N-T-A and this whole elaborate rouse. If possible, she would probably also be my E-L-F and I’m already anticipating Clark Griswald levels of decorations come December.”
iakyn‌:
Lakyn smiled, watching Scott in his element but also looking to the things he was pointing to. Her eyebrows scrunched a little in confusion, trying to keep it all straight. “geez, that’s a lot of information. no wonder Dom is always killing himself with studies” she said, leaning into the fence a bit to try to see more of what he was talking about before a sudden fear washed over her. Maybe asking him to bring her here was a bad idea and it was just going to highlight that she was truly too stupid for him. Glancing back at him she smiled, knowing how intelligent he was and feeling horrible that she couldn’t match him in that department, she must have been so boring to him, not a challenge at all, she thought to herself before looking down at the ground. “is it true that they would do like a forced perspective thing to make the building look taller than it actually is? i feel like i read that somewhere, and i mean, it makes sense. save money using less materials but still build something that looks giant” she said, tilting her head back to look towards the top of the building again, whispering the words to herself and trying to remember their meanings “spires, mullion” she was trying to say it soft enough so that Scott wouldn’t hear, it was a weird study trick she learned about herself in college, saying things out loud really made it stick better in her mind. “can, i mean, are we allowed to go in?” she asked him, looking back for some sort of confirmation.
“There’s a whole book of architectural jargon.” He assured her with chuckling amusement. “It’s rather confusing but when you’re essentially making a structure meant for people to use and be in, there’s going to be a lot of details and information to maintain and check at least ten times before everything is started up to build.” It was easy to get overwhelmed yet Scott just took to it like a duck to water as if he was born into such a world. All the facts and creative uses of various knowledge it took was distinctly right up his alley. His hand slipped to the small of her back as Lakyn leaned herself against the iron railings. Watching her adorable inquisitive side appear that put a soft smile onto his face. “Mh? Yes, they do. There’s reasons there’s towers and even modern buildings look so imposing.” Free hand gesturing around to the more modern skyscrapers along the streets across the way. “Long and lean. Not just to conserve space, but if it were as wide as it is tall, it’d actually have the opposite effect in making it seem shorter.” His smile returned then at her next question. “Of course. It is a church. Open to the public and they don’t mind tourists, we just have to be respectful.”
iakyn‌:
“sorry professor, i forgot my tape measurer” she said with a little laugh “i stand by what i said, it’s at least twenty basketball players tall. i could have made it worse and just said at least four” Lakyn tried to think back on previous conversations “you know, you might be right, we talk a lot, you can’t blame me for not remembering everything” looking back at him she gave him a little smile before returning her gaze to the building. She was trying to take in everything, trying to see the building through Scott’s eyes, and she had to admit that she was failing at that, to her it was just a pretty building and to Scott it was something important “so like, in technical terms what would you call that” she asked pointing towards the side of the building.Â
Scott just shook his head. Opting to push past the minor hurt that scurried into his system she forgot such a conversation about their passions. Briefly wondering if she just found it boring or unimportant but at least she cared enough to ask him again on the matter. No, he focused on her next question. Moving to a source he was more sure on. “Oh, okay, well, see this whole place is littered in pastiche details. It’s glorifying that resurrected gothic structure from the ground up. You can see it in the spires, the windows. Those Mullions there.” He pointed more directly to the windows. “Are all derivative of the pastiche of it. Mullions are the details between the window panes.” Then adding. Architectural jargon could get confusing to those not in the know. “We just tend to call those--” The two statures built into the side of the stone walls themselves. “Just figures or even sculptures or details. From what I remember, those are supposed to be guardians to help protect the church, itself.”
Wheres your happy place?
“Wherever Lakyn and my family are.”
Something that excites you
“Learning something new. Doesn’t matter what it is, there’s always a thrill in gaining new insight to things you didn’t have beforehand.”
Where would you spend all your time if you could?
“Italy. The entire country. I’m absolutely smitten with it.”

They had met once or twice at mutual gatherings. Circumstance brought them to the same location now as his girlfriend was the current night’s entertainment up on the stage so there Scott was for support. Taking a sip of his house beer, he thought he heard the woman beside him speak. Delayed, he tried to piece what she said. “I’ve been rather well. Preparing for the holiday season which is always hectic. How about yourself?”
sadie-ingram‌:
“Yeah, sure. I believe you,” she rolled her eyes with a smile, shaking her head. Once she heard him mention him missing the holiday, the smile faded as she took a deep breath. “Yeah. Right now I can’t afford to go back home for Thanksgiving, so we will be spending it here. But it would be nice for them to come visit for Christmas. The kids would like that,” a small nod as she rubbed her lips, the brunette thought for a moment. “Yeah, I like that. Won’t be too much fun carrying all the gifts over, but maybe I’ll just bring a small amount over at a time.”
“Need I share the story of the tooth fairy to the youngsters?” His brow cocked up in place. Referring to when she was a child, trying to gain extra money by passing off tic-tacs as extra teeth under her pillow. “Well, you know they’d be happy to fly you and these two on over. I could help chip in.” He didn’t want his sister to feel stuck and alone for the holidays, after all. “You know I don’t mind at all, plus there’s those frequent flyer miles I’ve kept away. As for the presents, you’re welcome to buy them and just bring them over here. I’m sure Lakyn would love to wrap up the gifts. You know how enthusiastic she is about the season.”
Weird things you accidentally find on your phone! 🤣

As Holly turned a corner in the park, she saw a man talk to his dog, and watched the dog jump into the leaves. She looked down at her two dogs, who looked like they wanted to play too. “Do you wanna play?” She bent down and released them from their leashes, watching the two run into the pile of leaves.
He got startled as two dogs bounded over and soon a flurry of leaves was kicked up. Straightening up with a self conscious yet amused laugh as he brushed some leaves off clinging to his shirt. “Well, hello there.” Not yet seeing their owner.
