Scrapimation at the High Wycombe Swan Theatre 11/04/17
We are back! Apologies that it’s taken a while to get around to posting everything what with Summer term starting and being completley swamped as well as catching a horrible virus which has had me running on empty for the last 3 weeks.
We had a great day over the Easter holidays at the Wycombe Swan running a minibeast themed Scrapimation using some natural mateirals as well as our usual scrap and junk modelling supplies! The kids were great, making plastacine insects, spiders, webs, birds,a scorpion and loads more! It was great fun!
Big thanks to Beth Bains as always for her help and to Katie from the Swan for getting us involved.
Willow Primary School - Art Club, winter 2015
We looked at nocturnal animals this term. In the first half we made bats and wolves living in a cave. In the second half we made sharks (they don’t sleep) and some other under water creatures.
All work created by the children in the club, they did a fantastic job!
Willow Primary School presents... MARCH OF THE ANIMALS
A collection of wonderful creatures made by our art club students, featuring cats, dolphins, butterflies, foxes and chickens! Can you name each animal correctly?
Music credit: March of the Animals (Finale) by Saint-Saens
Marish Shadow Puppets - The Ugly Bug Ball
We spent 3 weeks working on these excellent insect shadow puppets in art club, which we made dance for the Ugly Bug Ball.
HALLOWEEN BOOKMARKS
We made these great bookmarks for Halloween, based on pumpkins and monsters, so that the kids don’t lose their pages when they’re reading Goosebumps!
We got the idea from EASYPEASYANDFUN
PORTRAIT pt3
Some more from our pastels lesson.
PORTRAIT pt2
We used chalk and pastels to capture the colours in our fancy dress costumes, I love the way the kids have really tried to blend and mix the colours to try and get a realistic representation of the costumes.
PORTRAITS
A two-parter.
This week we dressed up in fancy dress costumes, wigs, gas masks, jackets, goggles, hats etc... and we drew eachother in different mediums. In these pictures, we played with charcoal and looked at shadow, light and dark, smudging the charcoal with our fingers to capture the shadow caused by the room and lighting.
Three wonderful continous-line drawings with some water colours. We were drawing super-heroes and their pets.
At Willow we made some excellent dream catchers to hang over our beds. Simply by using paper plates, wool, feathers and some old beads, we spider-webbed these great pieces to catch all those bad dreams and let only the good ones in.
The idea came from JANE-CAN.

SATURDAY MORNING ART CLUB
This morning we got up and made some wonderful shadow puppet films. We used a basic story template and created characters and situations. I am really happy with how well the kids got into this and their use of the projector to make backgrounds and foregrounds.

MARISH ART CLUB
We spent the last 2 weeks making shadow puppets. The kids really got the hang of how the puppets move and how to use coloured gels to create eyes and windows.
10TH JUNE 2015
WILLOW ART CLUB
We created these excellent expressive pieces from chalk and charcoal. We listened to 2 different jazz songs and closed our eyes, letting the music take us on a journey. I asked the kids to think about what imagery came to mind, what colours the music made them think of and what shapes. Was it a warm song that made them think of yellows and oranges, or a sad song filled with blues and greens. I also asked them to try and hear the different instruments and draw the sounds with their eyes closed. We agreed that the bass reminded us of walking down stairs and the faster songs made us think of triangles.
For these pieces we listened to ‘So What’ by Miles Davis and ‘Work Song’ by Julian Cannonball Adderley.

WILLOW ART CLUB
We used our hand prints to create different animals and then used scrap materials and bits of nature that we found outside to create habitats for our animal handprints.

We created these fantastic animal peg puppets from pegs and paper. The kids at Marish got really into this project and all produced some really individual pieces.
