The last time he was in New York, the assassin recalled, he had come across a situation similar to this. Although, there were a few things different; for one, Aveline wasn't there to intercept the men. And for another, the circumstances were just a bit different. The general idea was similar enough, though -- pickpockets, those that had nothing, taking from those that appeared to have more than them. Or those that just appeared weaker; in this case, a woman certainly would not have proved to be too much of a threat. Not when there were three men trying to attack her.
.. Or, rather, one man, now that Aveline had taken two of them down. Connor hadn't been there to see the take-down himself, but he could see the two unconscious bodes farther down the alley -- as well as the female assassin that had taken care of them.
He found himself in New York both to stock up on supplies, and to take care of an open contract. The target of the contract was typical; a man of power taking advantage of those beneath him because of the "power" that he possessed. There was also reason to believe that the man had underlying ties to the Templars -- those that Connor swore he would take revenge against. It may not have been Charles Lee that he was going after directly, nor was it any of the Templars that were connected to him, but he was sure that this contract would lead him to then -- that it would reveal more about his enemy, so as to prepare him for what was to come.
Connor had hung low after the deed was taken care of, of course -- removing any signs put up for his capture, and blending in ever-so carefully with the groups of people that surrounded him. Eventually, he found himself somewhat nearby the alley that Aveline and the assailants were in; from his current position, he could see a man backing out of the alley .. and, judging by the extra pair of feet between his own, he was dragging someone out. Eyes narrowing at the sight, the assassin crept up behind the man. He took extra precaution when a glint of silver caught his eye; it was a knife, held at the woman's neck. A dirty trick; no wonder he had managed to escape the female assassin. She wouldn't have compromised the other woman's well-being for anything.
Fortunate for her, then, that the hooded male arrived when he did. Since the assailant was so focused on Aveline, Connor managed to come up behind him without alarming him of his presence. In the next moment, the man would feel the cold steel of a hidden blade against his back, and he would hear the harsh command, "Release her." There was a moment's hesitation, but the man does release the woman in the end, shoving her in Aveline's direction. He seems to debate taking on Connor at first, but when he turns around and sees the size of him, something within him makes him decide against it -- instead, he shoves past him, running past him and down the cobbled-walk behind them. The woman does the same, though more shakily, and not before thanking the both of them in a wavering voice.
There's silence after that, until Connor makes his way to Aveline; the sound of the hooded male's boots echo lightly through the alley. Letting the man in question go was not ideal -- the fact irked him, and the irritation he felt was clearly visible. Even so,he had something new to address -- his brother (or rather, sister) in arms.
"It has been some time, Aveline."
