I think the reason Dazai genuinely likes and adores Atsushi is because he knows Atsushi is someone he can fully trust. Dazai can see real warmth and kindness that's why he recommended Atsushi to the ADA. Atsushi is someone Dazai can never be, he knows that and he likes that about Atsushi. From the start he shows favourtism towards Atsushi, because he sees Oda in Atsushi, he sees the same caring, trustable, empathetic energy and he is very much drawn to that. He constantly seeks reassurance from Atsushi, to feel like a changed man. He believes in Atsushi's judgement. He believes in Atsushi.
