And oooo yes, good question!!

So, with Grian's parents they went by Mum and Dad - though his mother is an afab alpha, and his father is an amab omega. I always imagined their family a bit estranged. I wouldn't use the word abusive, but they were on the more stricter side and emotionally disconnected. Grian was never all that close with his parents, and found better family with Jimmy and Mumbo, who he grew up with on the same childhood server. Jimmy since they were tots, and Mumbo since they were pre-teens when Mumbo's own family migrated to the server. When Grian turned 18 and had the chance to go off and explore other servers and learn how to become an admin of his own, he took the chance and left. Ever since then, he had been in very little to no contact with his parents.

Scar is much different. He had his Mom and Dad growing up - afab omega mother, and amab alpha father. They were very close as a family, but with certain complications, his parents could only ever have the one child - leaving Scar growing up craving for a large family one day. Of course, he latched onto Cub when the vex's family migrated onto his server and practically claimed him as his brother, so he was happy with that; and likewise, Cub was happy to have a best friend not scared of his hybrid status. He inherited his elven heritage from his father, though his mother also dabbled in a bit of magic too. They had a very homey life, always a little chaotic at times, but they loved every bit of it. Scar was excited to be able to explore the world a bit when he came of age, though he would miss his family he craved adventure more. When he heard the potential of Hermitcraft and was invited a few years later, he took the chance with Cub, but always made sure to keep in contact with his parents. They exchange letters, and Scar always sends pictures of his builds and plenty of stories (many of which seem to contain a certain avian omega, his parents always noticed with curious glances and cheeky nudges). On some season breaks and Christmas holidays, Scar sometimes goes back to visit with Jellie. And it actually hopefully won't be all that long before you get to learn even more about their parents 👀 for reasons 👀

Alternative ending idea where grian miscarriages during the king games and everyone is shocked and sad 😔😔

This is definitely an alternate ending I've thought about writing 😭

It would be Angst Central for sure, but a lot of potential 😭

There's this line in the Baby's first Christmas fic that won't get out of my head;

(Bdubs had settled himself in a rather cosy armchair closeby while Etho brought him a platter of snacks that the omega barely touched - looking a bit too tired to eat. Grian was a bit worried about his friend, but vowed to check on him later once the party was over.)

I don't think??? Grian ever checked up on him or if he did, it wasn't shown in the fic. So! If you don't mind me asking, what did that specific line mean? How was bdubs? How was etho? What was happening?

Ah yes, I left that part purposely vague to lean into an eventual sequel to WTE Limited Life. But the line itself was meant to hint towards the fact that Bdubs is in a rather... delicate condition (*coughBeaucough*). So Bdubs is fine-ish, just in very early first trimester symptoms. Etho is unaware just yet, he just thinks his mate is a little under the weather and is trying to encourage him to eat a little bit.

Grian however does get distracted and never does end up checking on Bdubs that night 😭 not for a few more days at least

About the bad ending in the worst case scenario where scar is not able to take poppy in and live without grian, who would adopt poppy? xisima and keralis? mumbo?

are we ever going to get a cub pov? i would love to know what was happening in his poor head during everything

In the worst-case scenario of Scar not being able to take Poppy, she would ultimately be raised by Xisuma and Keralis. Mumbo would be a very frequent babysitter though and very present uncle. I genuinely don't think Cub would be able to bear being around her long enough to take up that title for himself 😭 Keralis though would be fighting a heck of a lot of guilt upon taking this mantle; because he's wanted a baby for so long, but *never* like this and he would give anything for it not to be so. So I think he would have to overcome a bit of a mental hurdle himself, but he and Xisuma would work it through.

I don't know if there will ever be a Cub POV of the bad endings, as they'll primarily all be in Scar's POV aside from the bad ending where only Poppy doesn't make it. There will eventually be a Cub POV of That Fateful Night I'm hoping at least! When I can get around to it 🤞

i know they don't have any more children in canon and very understandably so, but i've been laughing at the mental image of grian going through an advanced maternal age pregnancy and experiencing the same feels he did with lilac except he's clinging to grown ass sunny crying about sumn "you'll always be my baby" 😭😭

I too am giggling at this vision 😂😭 it's extremely accurate haha

I can't lie and say I genuinely haven't thought about doing this exact scenario, cause let's be honest, if anyone's gonna manage it it would be Grian and Scar 😂

kinda late to the party but

what if they let grian back to scar during the bond breaking arc?

after scar broke docs nose keralis and xiumsa argued with xisuma trying not to break their boundaries of not wantinf the bond with Keralis tryinf to get him to understand it’s not healthy. I think maybe we can turn it into a really alternative ending with maybe grian pulling hair out and feathers.

finally they grab grian and take him to scars base, when they get their scaes being held back and keening to grian as soon as they see each other.

xisuma explaining “You can get each other on one condition. No fighting is when we leave, No more feathers and hair being plucked and no growling!”

they ease grian down bwfore letting him go and retreating wuickly.

the two magneting and scar immediately going to scent grisn loads of fluff

Tbh, there wasn't any paticular event that caused Grian’s miscarriage to occur. It was just one of those instances where the fetus wasn't compatible with life and his body just naturally terminated the pregnancy on its own. Nothing that he or Scar could have done any differently, as much as it hurt for them to come to terms with the loss.

Thats why I gave them the chance to be with their baby in my What If au 😭 and why her name was Carnie, after Carnation. Because she was dressed in pink, I was trying to allude to the meaning of the pink carnation: "I will never forget you" 🩷

Hi, sorry this is the same person who sent the last ask about the bad ending, but you’re response made me fairly sure that X doesn’t call Mumbo to tell him until the next day! Is Mumbo upset with X for waiting so long to tell him? How much is he actually told about the situation over the phone? (If you don’t want me bombarding you with niche questions like this I can absolutely stop!)

I did miss that, but I think Xisuma would have told Mumbo extremely early the next morning once he sort of collected himself.

Mumbo’s not exactly upset by how long Xisuma took to tell him - it hadn't even really been 12 hours, and I think Mumbo would logically understand there was a lot going on, but he would have demanded answers between gasping sobs. Xisuma would have told him aboht the baby and the haemorrhage, and then promise to let Mumbo back on the server as soon as he was ready.

Then Mumbo would have been sobbing for a good hour or two coming to terms with his best friend being dead before gathering the strength to get up and start his journey home 😭

There’s two ideas that have stocked in my head ever since I’ve read the alternative universe fics, though I’m not to sure if they’d count for it.

What would have happened if Grian accepted the offer the be pack leader of evo?

And I’m not to sure how to work but with the whole Grian dies, Poppy lives, Grian lives Poppy dies or they both die. What would happened in a universe where scar died?

Ooo I don't know if I've ever considered what would happen if Grian accepted being a pack leader yet. Cause in my head he was always just "nope" in every scenario lol. But if he were to accept, i think it would have been even more chaotic when he was taken by the Watchers. His pack would have been so lost and panicked, and I think I could see maybe Pearl taking charge in his steed. But once he's returned, he would have been even more protective of his pack and found a new world to seclude them all on....until a couple years later when he and a few other unsuspecting players get yoinked for the first game 👀

As for Scar dying in the bad ending; I can't really see a world with only him just dying spontaneously 😂😭 but if it was a case of following Grian/Grian and Poppy....yeah not so great 😭 i do have those endings planned to write, but they'll be rather *Heavy* chapters dealing with very sensitive topics surrounding death 😭
