space is a curve : tcw time loop fic where kamino becomes the site of a time loop issue, colt is the looper, and shaak is dealing with the weight of being looped but unaware that this is the problem. character study into shaak, alpha, and colt, and also the clones in general

eternity is a terrible thought : post time traveling and saving the world, sakura tries to find her footing and role in this new konoha that's been built around her. feat. painfully slow itasaku, shikaku being both a motherhen and manipulative, and a mediocre ending

the trifecta of terrible ideas: crack series with sakura, sasuke, and naruto in the star wars universe and sticking their noses into other ppl's businesses. the first part to the series is out but the rest are in the works

season one of the clone wars is so funny because there's just a bunch of throwaway actions and small details that would totally happen in fanfiction. like anakin and obi-wan getting drunk and ending up being locked in a cage with count dooku? fanfiction! general grievous coming home after a long day and ending up having a home invasion? fan fiction! jar jar binks wondering why there's a jedi's cloak in padme's closet? FAN FICTION!!!!

one genre of fanfiction that seems to have mostly disappeared since i became an adult is shenanigans-type fics. like not exactly crack but just "the gang goes to 7-11" type, extremely low-stakes plot stories. the beach episodes of fanfiction. i just feel like i don't see those around so much anymore. whered they go. i miss them :(

Summary:

Recovering from an attack is always challenging. After the invasion on Kamino, Shaak Ti works with the remnants of Rancor Battalion—an alive but reticent Colt, included—to once more strengthen the planet's defenses and chase away the pervading stench of peril. Discovering her death is the linchpin of a time loop just complicates things.

Shaak startles awake. There’s a dull ache in her spine, spurring her forward, and she swings her legs over the edge of her bed. The hem of her shift rucks up her thighs, exposing her skin to the chill air, and she rubs her hands over the muscles, ignoring the twinges in her back.

It was not a good sleep, she acknowledges, but it rarely is. Darkness clings to Kamino, the remnants of death stronger than ever after the invasion. It echoes through time, flowing like dirty waters through filters. 

She breathes out, like a sigh, eyes falling shut. 

Her dreams were disturbed, the murky resonance of the Force around reacting with her emotions. She parses through them: fear, guilt, and surprise—all familiar. All tangled together, and she considers them in her mind for a moment, tries her level-best to recall what they came from. But like always, it slips through her fingers, like wisps of shadows.

Her shoulders sag, and she presses her palms to her sockets, takes a couple deep breaths. When she feels marginally more settled, her hands drop and she addresses the thought that builds like dread.

It comes back to the darkness around Kamino. A familiar, vicious thing, lingering on her tongue like Lyshaa’s distrust and disgust. Shaak quells the host of feelings that thought brings, lips pinched together.

Around her, the timed lamps bloom with light, bringing with them the sign of morning. It filters through her eyelids, and she opens them, vision sharpening as her room is tinged with yellow, like a sunrise on Shili. 

On reflex, she checks her communicator. There are no pending messages, only updates from the certain council members. All is quiet for once.

Her lips purse. 

This unease within her—it is not unprecedented. It is part of why she requested this posting and part of why it was given to her, to not only settle her own conflicts about the Jedi’s role in the war but also to understand the clones’. 

These feelings are almost as familiar to her as a memory, and a sigh leaves her lips. Merely another day, she tells herself.

Writing Sexual Tension

Some tips and tricks I’ve seen on Tumblr, on Pinterest or have learned the hard way while writing. These are pretty basic but sometimes basic is good!

Realizing they can feel the person touching them. Maybe they’re not touching but they can feel the warmth.

Accidentally saying something flirty and both of you freeze. Or saying something flirty and the other person panicking and running away

Eyes dropping to lips. Eyes looking them up and down. Eyes unable to look away. Eyes unable to make contact without blushing. Eyes are you best friend.

Mirroring. When people have crushes or like someone (or want someone to like them) they do what is called mirroring. If character 1 crosses their arms and character 2 has a crush on them, have character 2 cross their arms too.

New Girl taught me about toes. If their feet are facing you, they want to stay. If their feet are pointed away, they want to leave. I’ve found its not always true but its something you can mention or use.

Unable to stop smiling. Unable to stop laughing.

Touching the other one when you laugh. Touching them to move them out of the way. Touching them and not moving your hand away

Hugging them when you see them. Sharing a bed. Trying to be near them at all moments.

Looking at their lips and fantasizing about kissing them.

Watching others interact in some way with them or how they act around them and being super jealous, wondering why they don’t act that way with you.

There aren't many fictional scenes that move me to tears but the scene in season two of Lost in Space where Judy is demanding her father not give up and telling everything that will happen to their family if he does hits so very hard and I cry every time.
