Oh look, another opinion on GO3, because why not at this point

I have nothing new to add. I'm not going to say anything insightful, or clever, or witty. These are just my own personal feelings, and I finally need to say them somewhere.

The thing is, I'm sad. GO3 just makes me sad. Not sad like a terrible tragedy has occurred, not any more, more like the kind of sadness you feel when you think about a dead pet. Not a recent one. Like a dead pet from ten years ago. I think of GO3 and I just feel sad and kind of...flat.

And I have tried! I have! I've read analyses from both 'sides' (god I hate that we have sides now). I've tried to convince myself of its merit. I was so prepared to love it, I would have forgiven almost anything for a happy ending. Does that make me shallow? Stupid?I feel like an idiot. Why can't I appreciate the 'in every universe' ending? Why doesn't it work for me? Why are they alive for some people, but for me they're just dead?

I feel so flat I've even run out of steam on this post, so...that's the end.

Phaesphoros is the one he carries and mostly uses for training. Dru definitely has a reaction when she sees it.

Uh, not exactly a question actually - but would you consider Jude Duarte the daughter of Emma Carstairs and Julian Blackthorn? (bcoz i do, i really really do - she is literally the PERFECT mix of both, like physically, mentally and spiritually)

I waited for Holly to get to my house so I could ask her this, so here you go:

Holly: "But if Julian and Emma were her parents, they'd be dead! Madoc would have killed them!"

Me: "They might have killed him, they can fight back, unlike Jude's mortal parents!"

i miss julian SO much and fear for his reaction to dru being kidnapped and ty leaving the scholomance to go off on this dangerous mission with the first heir 😭 our man is going to be STRESSED thinking he’s lost 3/4 of his kids, will we hear from him and emma in TLKOF and see his reaction to finding out what dru and ty are up to? (i wouldn’t be surprised if he tried to burn down the world to get dru back he’s THE julian blackthorn)

Poor Julian! Yes, it's true Dru and Ty are older than they were last time we saw them with Julian, but I think Julian will continue to wish to protect them. I think he will wish to protect them on into their adulthood, and when he is ninety-six and Dru is ninety-two or whatever, he will continue to regard her as his baby sister, and Ty as his baby brother. (Who is ninety-three.)

Ultimately though Julian has a role like the TID characters in The Last Hours: he can worry, and he can wish to protect his siblings, but in the end he isn't the one who can do what has to be done. Only the protagonists can do that. He can't burn the world down to save Dru, in that she has to save herself. He can set little fires though. :)

Yes, of course, you'll see all of all four portraits. I'm actually on a "releasing the art" schedule decided by my publisher, but they'll all be released well before the book comes out!

I do get this question a lot and I understand why, I mean who is going to be more upset about Dru and Ty having to be protagonists than Julian? But I wouldn't assume Julian himself isn't in danger. If he's being chased across a desert by an angry bird demon, does he have time to worry?

A very little. In the scenes in TLKOF from Ty's perspective, there is no room or reason for him to think about them. Dru wears her mother's gear and thinks briefly about her father, but he died when she was eight, and Eleanor when she was even younger. To her, her parental figure is Julian, who she thinks about a lot, as does Ty.

Nope! It is meant to be a fun piece of business tying him back to Jesse and the other Blackthorns of that time. That's all.

The forward progress of their stories ends with TLH. They do not live on forever or return as ghosts. We may hear bits and pieces about their lives, as history (Matthew's apartment in Paris lives on). It's not to say someday there might be a short story or something, who knows?! — but not in TWP.

He does! He remembers her well though he won't necessarily admit it at first. She certainly changed him, as he has only known otherwise terrible role models.

Zara is never over anything, but she also has beef with a lot of people. You'll definitely see her though she has bigger problems than Emma in TLKOF.

We already know why it fires for James, but we will indeed find out why it fires for Kit, too, in TWP. Ty figures it out.

We will definitely see Max. (Max 2? Max 3?) His knowledge proves invaluable. Maryse and Max reunited before TLKOF so that would have to be in special content or a deleted scene. (For those of you who have not read Better in Black, you will find out who Max is!)
