Lori had been out scavenging as usual. She normally would have been back to her camp by now and no doubt her people would worry. But circumstances as they were, weren’t in her favour. After the Governor she had been split up from her family and adopted more people as her group - until she could find her father and brother again.
It was then she had been found by another group and decided to bring her back to the Prison. As she looked at the repaired fences and such she was pretty impressed. But the whole thing chilled her, to be back here after everything had happened was very unsettling to say the least. She looked up at the leader, he was handsome, but she wasn’t going to give into anything these people had to offer. Trust didn’t come to her easily.
“What do you want with me?”
It wasn’t every day his people brought someone back. In fact, it was a rule that they didn’t unless the person was in bad shape or could offer them something. This girl didn’t seem like she had either. Dismissing his people, he stepped closer to the woman and softened his features. He didn’t want to come off as something he wasn’t.
The prison wasn’t a bad place and his people were good. He was good. He had seen evil and fought it until his side won. Since that day he vowed to never let his prison get that way again. This was a safe haven. A place for people to come and survive and thrive. It was his goal to make sure it stayed that way. Looking at her, he could tell it would take some convincing. “I’m Holden,” he started.
“Did my people tell you anything? Why they wanted you to come back?”

𝓑eth was unsure what to say. everyone had lost someone at this point. it was sick how something so awful had become so normalized. she wanted to tell him he was lucky. the people he cared about only turned. beth knew that wasn’t the correct or polite thing to say but she thought of the people she lost & how most of them were brutally murdered by other living people.

her words had a truth. she did feel for him in losing his family to walkers. nothing in this world had come easy for anyone still alive. if you were still alive there was something you regret doing.

He knew she was right and he did have things to believe in. It was just hard because he knew if he survived this then he’d never see his parents again. He hoped to God his sisters were still alive and that he’d at least have them when all this blew over. Looking toward the blonde, he nodded his head. It never made sense to him when people apologized for bad things that happened to other people. It wasn’t their fault.
“Don’t be sorry. Not your fault,” he said. Looking around the prison yard, he crossed his arms over his chest and chewed on the inside corner of his mouth. This was worth believing in and fighting for. It was.
“This prison is all I need,” he said, looking at her again. “Knowing I’m keeping people alive and giving them a safe haven is everything.”

being here for a few days is equal to being here for a week, she believes. apocalypse time moves faster. disregarding opinions, the point is: she feels relatively comfortable. does she trust everyone? she’d like to – really, she would. but that would just be ignorant, and she learned her lesson once, therefore she won’t repeat it. leaving, being on her own – it’s something she’s slowly realizing she doesn’t want. and yeah, she has a place to stay if she goes back to her family, but a prison? she feels like it would be stupid of them to decline. a safe place for her family is all she wants, and she needs some peace of mind. she’s doing this for them. but, for once, she’s also doing this for herself.
she hears a collection of voices echo throughout the cell, rising from her bed to sit at the edge of it, listening in. there’s not much she can make out, but she can tell one of the voices is holden’s. now, holden? she’s definitely more apt to trust him than anyone else at this point. he seems like he knows what he’s doing, and he hasn’t given her a hard time thus far. pulling her boots on, the young girl makes her way out, pushing open the barred door of the block, stepping out to where they’ve gathered around a circular table. ❛ – is something wrong? ❜ she would possibly chuck it up to them going on a run if it wasn’t for the fact it’s nearly pitch black outside. she wants to know, and she wants to help, if need be.

He thought they had been being quiet enough. Most of the members of the prison were still asleep and he had only been trusting a few with the information he had received. During the night one of Rick’s people, he assumed Daryl since he had a bike, had left a note attached to the main entrance. Holden had been unable to sleep and had discovered the note not long after it had been left. It was still pitch black out and the only way they had been able to see was thanks for a few lit candles. Apparently someone was coming. Someone far worse than The Governor and with more people. He’s in the middle of a sentence when he hears a familiar voice and looks their way.
Alicia. Holden blinks for a few moments as he tried to figure out what to say. She was still newer, but she had quickly become one of their own. He appreciated how hard she worked and how much she wanted to help. She was finally getting a place to relax in and news like this had to happen. Moving away from the table, he rubbed the back of his neck and walked over to her. Standing so his larger frame blocked out the table, he looked down at her. “Alicia,” he said, clearing his throat. “Listen, is something the matter? You should be sleeping.” Smooth. Closing his eyes briefly, he shook his head and then looked at her. “It’s nothing. We couldn’t sleep so we were just planning the next run.”

Holden had been working outside. Checking the crops, making sure the perimeter was still secured, and all the things that kept the place running. His usual scavenging group was due back soon and as soon as he looked toward the main entrance he saw them. Squinting, he attempted to recognize one person in particular. He couldn’t.
Making his way to the gate, he pulled it open and pulled aside one of his men. After learning the female had been on her own and without a camp, he looked her way and nodded his head. Closing the gate, he secured it before heading over to the newcomer. “Welcome,” he said, offering a smile.

Galmon was extremely appreciative of his assistance. She kept the water close to her. Once her vessel fully healed from dehydration, she’d be back to herself – more or less. Like a stray puppy, Galmon was close behind the man, eager to get into safety and out of the sun. Stepping through the threshold of the gate, she turned to help him close the gate, “I’m Galmon.”
Well, that’s an interesting name, he thought to himself. Holden lead her into the prison and toward the room where people mainly just sat and hung out. “You can sit wherever you please,” he said, moving to the kitchen. He grabbed another bottle of water and brought it back out to her. “So,” he said, sitting down as well. “How long have you been out there for?” he asked, folding his hands together.

she followed alongside him and hummed lightly, though she couldn’t help but chuckle lightly as he shot off question after question, though she didn’t mind it at all —– she took note of his questions, staying quiet for just a short moment before finally answering him. ❝ i am from here, born and raised. ❞ she answered his first question and shook her head at his second one, ❝ no, i didn’t travel too much. i was on my own from the beginning until now —– it was a bit difficult because i’ve been trying to find my brother and his partner but i haven’t had any luck with that.. ❞ she added on, her shoulders rose and fell in a small shrug. she paused in her step, watching him turn on the makeshift sprinklers and she couldn’t help but smile fondly because they were trying everything they could do keep living, to keep surviving. to keep people fed and it was a great thing for a place like this. once he had stood back up, she began to walk alongside him again and the silence between the two of them had given her a short moment to think if she should or not. she needed to earn his trust and despite only knowing him for somewhat of a day, she felt as if she could trust him; she’s not sure why, but she just does. she’s got this feeling in her gut that tells her to trust him and his group, that they would take care of her and she would do her part to contribute to it. nodding to herself, she inhaled deeply and turned her attention to him. ❝ can i tell you something? you have to promise to keep this to yourself because no body knows about this but me. ❞ she started. ❝ only i know because it happened a week or so after the virus hit. ❞ this was it, she was going to tell him; the only person that she feels that she could trust with this secret and she hoped that he wouldn’t feel the need to throw her out or shoot her.
Holden was a bit surprised when she asked him if she could tell him something. He hadn’t been the most friendly of people - he locked her in a cell for crying out loud. Perhaps it showed, though, that he felt bad for doing so. Wiping his hands on his jeans, he looked at her and nodded. “Yeah, of course,” he said. He wasn’t sure if he was prepared to hear what she had to say or even if he’d believe it. But he would let her tell him regardless and then they’d go from there. Besides, there’s not much he doesn’t believe in after the dead started walking on the Earth along with the rest of them.
He walked a bit further on before rounding a corner to a more secluded spot. Pulling his gun out of its holster, he dropped it to the ground and then sat in the grass. Leaning back, he rested against the outer wall of the prison and then stretched out his legs and crossed one over the other. Holden looked up at Nevaeh and then raised his eyebrows.
“So... what’s up?” he asked, raising a hand to block out the sun. He was trying to keep an open mind and not judge too harshly on what he was about to hear. He wouldn’t want anyone to judge him so he was going to do his best to offer the same to anyone else. Dropping his hand, he patted the ground near him and motioned for her to sit down. “I’m all ears,” he said, offering a half smile.
