I’m staying in this bitch ass world just to outlive him
JK Rowling, 2007: Dumbledore is gay
JK Rowling, 2018:
Everyone in the Harry Potter fandom is fucking rioting I swear. Like half the people are like “well in the 1940s we could be killed/imprisoned for being gay!!!”
Like, come on now, this film is about fucking Wizards. The first film had sentient stickbugs in it and a briefcase that held an entire world basically. I’m gonna go ahead and say that “historical accuracy” isn’t David Yates or JK Rowlings’ main priority.
There is literally no excuse for not making Dumbledore explicitly gay. The only thing stopping them is the fact that Rowling doesn’t see Dumbledore as gay, and most likely said it to make her cisgendered, straight, white characters seem more diverse. The same thing she did when she said Anthony Goldstein was Jewish. She’s trying to make herself look better without actually doing anything.
I love Harry Potter, it was my first real fandom. The first fan fiction I read and wrote. My whole childhood. But enough is enough. We have got to stop praising people for doing the bare minimum and acting like they actually did something. No more excuses, if we don’t call people out for this, it will never stop.
We cannot obliviate an entire city. Actually, I think we can. I was intending to wait until we got to Arizona, but it seems like now you are our only hope, Frank.

THIS STORY DOESN’T ADD UP….
A black Muslim woman judge is all of the sudden found dead in a river?…. I wonder what “accidental” scenario the police are gonna try to come up with. WE DESERVE ANSWERS
I haven’t even heard anything about this??
hopefully this story will grow and become more viral…. this just happened last night so maybe people will start to catch up. I hope the police don’t bullshit this case and rule it out as an “accident”.
What’s really worrisome to me is they’re already talking about a lack of evidence to support foul-play. Saying there aren’t any marks to indicate it, so it must be impossible. I know somebody did this to her. They need to be caught, and I’m very afraid that the police won’t pursue this properly.
Sheila Abdus-Salaam was a “trailblazing” judge in NY. Here’s why we should #SayHerName.
Sheila Abdus-Salaam — a judge for New York’s Court of Appeals — was found dead, floating on the Hudson River on Wednesday afternoon, after being reported missing earlier in the day.
Law enforcement officials told CNN that the investigation is pointing to a possible suicide.Abdus-Salaam, the daughter of working-class parents, is the United States’ first Muslim female judge and the first black woman to be appointed into the city’s highest court. Her years of dedication to the law prompted New York Gov.
Andrew Cuomo to appoint her to the Court of Appeals. Abdus-Salaam also earned the praise and respect of former Attorney General Eric Holder, her Columbia Law School classmate, who attended her swearing-in ceremony in June 2013.When news broke of her death, several news organizations didn’t mention her name in their headlines and their social media posts.
“Body of US’s first female Muslim judge found in Hudson river: report,” The Hill tweeted.
BuzzFeed and Fox News replaced Abdus-Salaam’s name with “first woman muslim judge in the US” and “black, Muslim judge,” respectively. The New York Post took the more simplistic approach: “Judge found dead in Hudson River.” Read more. (4/13/2017 3:20 PM)

Guys, We Need Your Help
Today something awful happened at the sanctuary (Midwest Avian Adoption and Rescue Services). A car slammed into the walls of the room with the cockatoos, smashing into the cage of Cowboy, the sweetest Moluccan Cockatoo you will ever meet, while he was still inside. Thankfully, due to the quick action of a volunteer, Cowboy is unharmed. However, the car also damaged a gas pipe in the wall which started leaking gas throughout the building. All of the birds managed to be safely evacuated and no one has shown signs of illness from the gas. We are incredibly lucky that everyone is alright. There are so many birds and so many cages that needed to be moved quickly.
Two of the rooms have been deemed as structurally unstable. Although the gas leak has been fixed, we can’t use much of the space that we need and so we’ve had to Tetris the cages back inside. It is going to be very expensive to repair this damage. The driver of the vehicle drove off immediately, but we do have a license plate number so I hope the perpetrator is caught. We are asking for as much help as we can get here. These birds are so incredibly important to all of us. They are our family.
If you have anything, even the smallest amount, please consider donating. If you are unable, please signal boost to those who can.
(^only some of our large numbered flock)
It is important to note here that we are not looking for homes for these birds, even though all the offers are greatly appreciated. Despite the name, this is a permanent sanctuary for all the birds here, most of whom are special needs.

It would mean the world to me if you could help. I hope all of you and your birds have a safe night.
Some of my favourite signs from the ‘March For Europe’ Brexit protest in London, July 2nd, 2016.
Confronting Street Racism: Know the Law.
After Brexit, fears of a sharp spike in racism and xenophobia are sadly being confirmed. Dont just share this online, discuss it with your mates IRL. We can’t beat the far right through ‘likes’. Lets build actual solidarity against racism. Here’s some tips for the road:
NOTE: Law of ENGLAND & WALES only.
The Police are institutionally racist. Don’t rely on them to back you up.
Before taking action, try and have a quick glance at escape routes and CCTV cameras. If you have to escape, try switching some items of clothing around.
As a minimum, offer to walk someone to a place of safety if they’re the victim of abuse. Be mindful of people approaching from behind. Use light, shadow and reflections to your advantage. If you need to wait, do it with your back to a wall for 180° vision.
If someone makes a verbal or physical threat of racist violence, balance that with steps to defend yourself/another against them. Legally, this is to prevent hate crime through “necessary and reasonable” action.
This means more force might be justified against someone ‘bigger and uglier’ than yourself/another. Less force might be called for where the assailant could be seen as physically vulnerable. This means snap-judgements have to be made on age, for instance: the difference between a block and a strike. Intoxication either side can also affect the verdict. Remember you will be judged by the values of a racist justice system, not your mates.
These ideas might be applicable to countering racist graffiti too. eg - if you regularly carry stationary with you, you might want to use a marker pen to cross out that swastika that’s been bothering you. Using keys to deface fascist stickers is definitely fair game.
If an intruder in your home/caravan/houseboat threatens attack, you have greater freedom to defend yourself as long as it isn’t “grossly disproportionate”.
If you are arrested, SAY NO COMMENT to all questions except your name and an address. If you have injuries or medical needs tell the station doctor in as few words as possible: they work for the cops. CALL A TRUSTED LAWYER for free rather than taking a duty solicitor. When you get out, contact GBC or LDMG for free additional specialist legal support ASAP.

my thai neighbours had the windows of their shop smashed in yesterday. they have three young children. a man in my town was seen telling an iranian man behind the bar of his own restaurant “go home, we voted out, go back to your own country”. polish workers on my local news were afraid to show their faces on tv for fears they would be physically attacked for expressing their dismay at the leave vote. the EDL held a violent anti-immigration protest in my home city yesterday. brexit has completely emboldened the racists of britain and i am both disgusted and deeply afraid. this is real, this is happening all across the uk, please stay safe, don’t let them win
18 years ago today the first Harry Potter book was released, so clearly Dumbledore has something to do with the SCOTUS decision today
Seriously though
This ruling is a victory for America. This ruling affirms what millions of Americans believe in their hearts: when all Americans are treated as equal we are more free … love is love.
