The song was named the greatest duet of all time by the Billboard charts! (Sheesh!😅)

It was used as the theme for Franco Zeffirelli’s film Endless Love

The song was originally recorded for Motown

It was written and produced by Lionel Richie

The song reached number one on the charts, and stayed there for 9 weeks straight! (From August 15th - October 10th, 1981)

It reached number 7 in the UK, and also topped the Billboard R&B charts

The song became one of the highest selling single’s of Diana Ross’ career

Lionel Richie and Diana Ross eventually ended up recording solo versions of the song themselves (Diana Ross for her album Why do Fools Fall in Love and Lionel Richie for his self-titled album)

The song was nominated for an Academy Award for a Best Original Song (A first for Lionel and a second for Diana)

The song won an award for Favorite Pop/Rock Single at the 1982 American Music Awards

Lionel eventually re-recorded the song with country legend Shania Twain in 2012 for lead single of his album Tuskegee!

I think someone recently posted it on YouTube but prior to that the only footage that was up from his entire appearance on the show was the performance itself and NOT the interview😒

He’s so tall lol, like just watching him walk in and seeing his legs crossed, his legs go on for miles😂 and he looks like a GREAT hugger

He speaks with such a great reverence for everyone, from David Foster to the Osmonds, he’s just such a kindhearted man

He really loved that break😂 but it’s so sad that he missed out on so much😔so I’m glad he took that break lol
