Photo a Day Project
As I reflect back on the semester and on this project in particular, I find that I have really enjoyed it. Taking a photo a day was pretty easy for me because I love to take pictures. I feel that it was very beneficial to have to take photos on a daily basis, even though at times, with hectic schedules and life’s circumstances it was not always easy to take photos, but because we had to do this on a daily basis, this project gave us the opportunity to explore everything we have learned and discussed in class and actually apply it. I just never realized what it took to capture what the eye actually sees into a photo. I think that is the biggest thing I learned from this project, and with continued practice, I am learning to acquire a whole new different perspective, which is not just seeing through artistic eyes; but also applying composition, form, color, light, and everything that is included together, to create a great photo that truly captures what I am seeing, and one that also tells a story that can be interpreted by those that see my photos.Overall it has been very interesting to not only continue to see through artistic eyes, but to learn how to see in a way that can help one to capture those moments. I think that letting myself open up and to really be free about “putting myself on my canvas” has been one of my biggest struggles as an artist, and I continue to strive to push myself past the boundaries that I have been comfortable within. I am very glad to have had the opportunity to learn what I did from this project and this class.

O.k., I did not take this picture. I just wanted to post it for those of you who do know photography to see what you thought. This is a picture of a friend of mine who lives in Hawaii. On her left is her son, her brother to her right. She posted this picture mentioning the fog that they thought looked like an angel. I see something different. Thought it was interesting!
Woo Hoo!! Bought a small set of prismacolors!
My new job! :-) GO DOGS!
After browsing through all of my photos, I finally chose photos I recently took on a trip to and from the coast with my children. I tend to take a lot of pictures when I’m outside because I see the beauty of what surrounds me. I see now that it is much more difficult to put the beauty of the eye into a photo, but I was inspired as we drove; because I was not driving, to capture what a person sees on their travels through the central valley. I found it interesting to take these pictures because I was able to enjoy the view and take my eyes off of the road and get a different perspective of my surroundings of where I live, and because we were in motion most of the time, I was not sure what I was going to come out with. The photo with the view of the overpass was taken though the window, as you can see by the bugs on it. I chose that photo because even though it may not be a great shot, I felt like it gave the perspective of what someone would see as they are traveling. The picture of the clouds and field is another one that interested me because of the reflection in the side rear view mirror. I was not sure whether to focus on that, but I really like the look of the clouds overhead and the field so I left it the way it is. The last picture is through hwy 41, which I really like. Besides liking the way it came out, I like the way it shows the contrast of what we see as we travel further away from home. This is one of my favorites, as well as the photo on the top. I really like that I was able to find a phone booth to photograph! It reminds me of old times, but the phone booth and building behind stand as they are today.
