SeaCa Plastic Packaging had their official ribbon cutting event this morning, where we got to celebrate with our new city officials, employees, founding family and associates!
We are so thankful for the support we have been provided, the family legacy that is being continued and the exciting new chapter we have embarked on! We are ready to manufacture better packaging for a better world on large scale. Keep on eye on us as we revolutionize the packaging industry!

For 130 years our corporation has been in the box business providing customers with innovative products to help solve challenges that arise. Our SeaCa plastics division is no different in their committment to develope innovative and reliable packaging. Our sustainable polypropylene packaging is changing the produce industry, so join us in this industry revolution!
We stopped by our loyal customer Simoni and Massoni farm to show you how this sustainable packaging operates through a packing shed. Thank you to all our excellent customer who make the box business a day to celebrate!
SeaCa Packaging expects the $17 million facility will be completed in April. The project is expected to create 65 new jobs during its initial phase.
We are proud to share we will be fully operational early summer of 2019 to provide customers with better packaging for a better world!
Immense amounts of energy and time is being invested into our move from Fowler, California to Surprise, Arizona. Our first extruder was installed and ran its first polypropylene corrugated sheet in our new home! Big day for our workers down in Arizona and the start of a promising future.
South Sound students Gabrielle Jones, Justin Miller and Keely Prawitz each received the Nist Family Scholarship that celebrates high-school seniors for their commitment to community involvement, their demonstration of leadership and tenacious drive towards future aspirations. These students have shown passion in their community and school involvement, self-growth in leadership opportunities and persistence when faced with adversity. We are proud to reward these students for their commitment and excellence as rising leaders within their generation.
“We saw as a family it was time to grow into something larger that will go on for many generations” were inspiring words spoken by one of the company’s owners, Mike Nist, regarding the establishment of this scholarship fund. In 2019, Seattle-Tacoma Box Company celebrated their 130-year anniversary under the same family management, which has spanned six generations. Our founding patriarch Jacob Nist deeply valued liberality and a spirit of benevolence when it came to any deserving cause. As a family, the Nist’s continue to carry that legacy into future generations.
The mission of the Nist Family Scholarship Fund is to support, promote and encourage the educational pursuits and goals of individuals directly associated with Seattle-Tacoma Box Company and associated companies, SeaCa Packaging and Commencement Bay Corrugated, with scholarship funds to help support the building of future generations.

Spring is definitely here as we took a visit to one of our legacy customers, EG Richter Family Farm! These founding families have been doing business together for over three generations and continue the strong relationship to this day.
We may be bias, but don't they have one of the best views in the entire country? Especially with those boxes and fresh rhubarb!

Another beautiful day at our new home in Surprise, Arizona as we got an up close look at the inside and our roof being installed. Quite exciting!
As the famous impresario Sol Hurok once said, "The sky's the limit if you have a roof over your head". We are excited to see the roof of our new home is starting to take shape as new opportunities rise on the horizon!
The Nist Family Fund was able to donate their first grant this year to the Wishing Well Foundation out of Puyallup, Washington. They are a wonderful organization that help support Foster family and children in the greater Pierce County area who are truly making a difference within their community.
Celebrating the Past & Looking Forward to the Future: 2019
As we look forward to the New Year we are extremely grateful for the opportunities that 2018 have brought us & the challenges that have made us better, but we are eager to see what 2019 has in store for us. A few things we do know and are thrilled to share:
- Our parent company, Seattle-Tacoma Box Company, turns 130 years old in 2019 and still under the same family management since inception in 1889. A very special accomplishment and dear to our hearts!
- Our plastics division will find themselves a new home in Surprise, Arizona this spring that will more than double our current capacity. Greater opportunity to continue making better packaging for a better world!
- Sustainability will continue to be a large focal point of our company goals as we continue to strive towards a sustainable closed loop program working alongside all members of the supply chain. Stay tuned for this programs launch!
As we look into 2019 we could not be more excited for our new home to be finished! The concrete is poured, the walls are going up and we are greatly anticipating the final result in the upcoming Spring. A whole lot to look forward to in the New Year.
