at the knock on her door ,  and hearing mipha’s voice call out for her ,  lucina sets the book she was reading on her wardrobe  –  and takes an 𝖾𝗑𝗍𝗋𝖺 𝗆𝗈𝗆𝖾𝗇𝗍 to observe herself in the mirror , and tuck a few strays hairs back into their place .

      “   a surprise ?   ”   her eagerness shines through as she gestures for mipha to come into her dorm room ,  but her blue eyes are settled only on the package at hand .     “   you didn’t have to …   ”   she says ,  though her lips spread into a wide grin ,  holding her hands out ready to receive it .

              “  seeing  your  joy  is  worth  it ,  lucina .  ”  mipha  hands  it  over  with  practiced  ease ,  yet  excitement  bubbles  up  inside  her ─  &  worry .  would  she  like  it ?  lucina  was  always  so  quick  to  ask  about  the  zoras ...  she  has  no  real  reason  to  fear  for  anything .  “  it ’ s  something  from  zora  culture .  i  thought  you  might  enjoy  being  able  to  experience  it .  ”

              oh ,  is  that ...  too  much ?  well , it ’ s  not  like  mipha  has  ever  told  the  other  about  the  armor ,  nor  it ’ s  properties ;  she  should  be  fine .  right .  it ’ s  not  as  if  she ’ s  asking  the  other  to  travel  to  the  domain  &  spend  a  day ,  or  two ,  (  or  forever ,  hopefully ,  one  day ,  if  she  dares  )  there .

            “  just  what  to  expect  from  the  golden  deer  house .  that ’ s  all .  ”  a  warm  smile ;  she hadn ’ t  expected  such  an  enthusiastic  response .  perhaps brushed  off  for  being  weird ,  or  for  coming  up  out  of  the  blue ,  but ...  “  i ’ m  a  new  student .  or  a  foreign  exchange ,  if  you  will .  ”  tucking  bright  red  hair  behind  her  ear ,  “  i ’ ve  just  needed  help  with  choosing  a  house ,  as  i ’ ve  been  granted  a  choice  to .  no need to convince me ,  ”  would  it  be  going  against  her  promise  if  she  forced  the  other  girl  to  do  so ?  “  i  just  like  exploring  my  options .  ”

i was discussing this with dany a bit ago but: zora tunics are gifted to closer friends & fiancés only. they are seen as symbols of trust to other races, a direct invitation to see zora’s domain & see a culture basically hidden from the world. 

the only difference between friends & fiancés is that the fiancé will have the white scale from zora legend sewn into it.
