There was a gorgeous sunset in my little neck of the woods today. We could see glimpses on it reflecting on nearby buildings but my house is low down by the river and trees and buildings block the view west...

So eldest child and I decided, spur of the moment, to head out of the house and walk down to a nearby bridge for a better view... and I am glad we did...

But this is so important. He didn't like being there in the beginning. He was stuck, he was hurt, and he was surrounded by strangers who were completely outside anything that could understand him. He met them where they were and they loved him even when he couldn't, and that was what made him fall in love with them, there, and her. For the first time in his life he was part of a healthy exchange of affection. He got out of his own way, sacrificed his pride, and became the happiest he'd ever been.
