Maybe, just maybe, some people underestimate pain. Pain is eternal. It doesn't disappear. It'll always be there. And anything minuscule that will remind you of it will make you feel everything again like the pain is new, like it was yesterday: the music you listened to while you were crying at 4 in the morning; that funny show you watched which made you cry instead of laugh; the friend who was there to just listen through it all.

Pain is not just a feeling, it is a memory.

Several years from now, when you feel serene because you've found your peace, the pain will still be there, existing, and you might not know it, you might not even be aware of it, but it helped you get to where you are.

It broke you, it made you, it completed you.
