I am so utterly filled with my own enlightenment that I feel like I’ve already been living for a hundred trillion billion years on trillions and trillions of similar planets, you know? And then you look at this water, at these ripples… and you realize that every single drop is an exact goddamn copy of this whole fucking river! Every molecule out there spins in the exact same pattern as the whole planet spins around the Sun. It’s a fucking fractal, man!
And here we are, with our yachts, with our apartments… thinking we’re the kings of nature, separate little units. But in reality — we’re just a tiny little curl in the big flow, just like that leaf floating by. Our life is just a copy of an atom’s life, only on a different scale. And the deeper you stare into it, the more you understand: there’s no up, no down. There’s only infinite self-repetition. And every action of ours repeats the motion of galaxies, and every thought of ours echoes back into infinity… And from that realization, your brain just fucking melts, because you are simultaneously nothing and everything at once.
Here you are, sitting on the bank, and the river flows. And you see: the pattern in the sand looks like the clouds, the clouds look like the branches of trees, the branches look like the veins in your own hand. It’s all one. And when you accept that, you stop all that fussing around. You just walk to this river to gaze at its infinite fractal likeness, and you couldn’t give a shit about all those material possessions, because everything has already happened, and will happen, and is happening — all at the same time
