I'm excited to celebrate the publication of Katherine Link's magical book The Dragon Sonnets! This has been a project many years in the making, and I'm so grateful to have been a part of it.
The book is available for purchase here:

As an added bonus, I shared a behind-the-scenes look at painting the cover art on my blog:

Hooray, time for stars! I love making stars in stained glass (or any medium anything, really). Since theyāre all straight cuts, theyāre fair
Another behind-the-scenes look at how I created my Great Celestial Beast stained glass window. This time? Stars!
Welcome back for Part II! Normally at this stage, Iāll create some quick watercolor comps for the stained glass piece to plan colors, textur

Originally created for @foliosociety 's 2025 illustration competition, illustrating the Brothers Grimmās āRapunzel.ā
After the Prince falls from the tower and escapes through briars, he wanders the wilderness until finally reuniting with Rapunzel and their twins. I imagine them living happily ever after in the wilds, his armor rusted and overgrown as it guards their garden. New life grows from old: animals and birds make homes in rusted plate, briars grow through a battered visor, and numerous species of rampion (rapunzel) grow over greaves. The armor roots into the land as the family learns to grow with the wilderness, sustained and uplifted by what once imprisoned them.
The armor is based on a set of 16th c. German armor by Kunz Lochner, with subtle narrative engravings throughout. This was my first time painting armor, and I was a monster to do it in watercolor; next time I'll use oils for sure.

Iām so excited to finally share the finished stained glass window of my Great Celestial Beast. I imagine Great Celestial Beasts as the darkness between stars, creatures of liminality and transformation. As such, I imagine they appear a bit differently to everyone. Unlit, the window is nearly black, with the Beast hidden in the solder lines, then comes to life with color in the sunlight. (Iāll post unlit and detail shots later.)
This thing is enormous, heavy, and would not have been possible without @dllecky forging the frame and being the best support. Thank you <3
This window took me nearly a year and a half to complete, and I learned so much making it. This Beast appeared to me as I struggled with advancements in my degenerative disability. As my life shattered, I used the shards to create new stories: of transformation, movement, and magic hidden all around me. I needed a sky with teeth, a fierce guardian to remind me of the great beauty and strength found in the dark.

Stars have become important symbols to me ever since I got sick. I remember being in the desert, humbled by an endless sea of stars. To me, theyāre guides, guardians, wayfinders, and glimpses of an ineffable mystery. It was a dream come true to learn stained glass at @johnccampbellfolkschool this past week. This is my favorite part of my final piece: a winter star in a midnight sky. Occasionally, if Iām feeling up to it, Iāll use a cane and recently needed a new one. But not seeing any colors I liked, @dllecky helped me paint a shiny new one with stars! āļøāØ #cane #disability #customcane #stars https://www.instagram.com/p/CpwE_mpLU_5/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
