My Frustration with Season 4 of Umbrella Academy
***Disclaimer. In case you don't want to read, please, jump to under the title in red below. BE WARNED THIS WILL HAVE SPOILERS OF SEASON 4, SO JUMP THIS POST IN CASE YOU ARE STILL AVOIDING SPOILERS***
(I'm sorry if there's any erros in my writing, english is not my main language, so please be patient.)
Look, this post is not hate intended. It is only a frustrated fan that still loves Umbrella Academy but want to share their thoughts through a -maybe - long blog post.
I still love Umbrella Academy series, season 4 did killed a bit of my hype? Yes, but it's still my favorite series, regardless.
I did a post about it on twitter few months ago, I believe. But now I want to share my thoughts here in Tumblr. Let's start:
Umbrella Academy Season 4
The frustration among fans of TUA about season 4 is very notable. You may or may not see the effects of it - Not only with the hype dying because the series ended - which is normal, BUT also because many people, like me, didn't like the ending.
I will start with the ending, because... For some people, the ending was plausible, made sense, etc. For me, it was the peak of frustration, because:
We followed the siblings through the crazy journey and crazy timelines travels... We saw their childhood, how angsty, frustrated, sad and -4bus1v3 it was. It feels their lives were meant to be tragic. Which, is ok, we don't need another happy ending (for them, I wished a happy ending, or a half happy ending xD). But it was double frustrating knowing that they suffer all of that 'just because'. Like, they only existed to vanish of existence at the end.
It let a very bad taste in my mouth. The 'message' behind it is terrible too. It felt they were the problem all along - not only FELT, but also was mentioned that because of them, they created a bunch of timelines that were destined to suffer. C'mon, that's terrible...
Was it their choice? No. That what also enfuriates me. So the message was "you were created just to suffer, and you were the problem all along."
like, naaah, c'mon.
Also, they completely forgot about the grandfather paradox they created in the first and 'true' timeline.
For those who don't remember... The grandfather paradox happens when fox example: A son goes back in time and k1ll one of or both of his parents / grandparents before he was born. Then he comes back in time to a reality he exists but their parents don't. This is what happened, basically, in season 3. No, the Brellies didn't k1ll their mothers as we know. It was Harlan. But still, they were k1ll3d before they were born. And the fact they existed in that timeline, created the Kugelblitz. So, Claire and Diego and Lila's kids, existing in the first and true timeline without their parents even existing would create the kugelblitz too... Or something like that, because it would be an error in reality.
