Excactly one year ago we had a hard reset on our @theserpentsofbienville project. Thankfully we were all standing where we were at that exact moment, inches different would have been life threatening. With incredible support and love we have been able to go on and create something that I am incredibly proud of today. The overwhelming support one year ago reminded me why we do this, to create an authentic connection with our community, and to highlight artists, creators, and story tellers in our area. I really enjoy doing coverups/reworks, and the key is having a client who understands the process. I always try to have extended time between sessions to see how the work settles, and to be able to work effectively with less trauma and damage. So most of this is healed, with just small parts being fresh in this session. It’s been a lot of learning, and a lot of growing, which wouldn’t be possible without incredible clients like Mike. We had a lot of fun adding this piece to Ryan’s chest/torso project. I’ve been tattooing Ryan for over a decade now, and with every session he is more and more encouraging and uplifting. Every time I tattoo him I’m reminded of how fortunate I am to get to be a tattooist, and how grateful I am to have tattooing in my life. Tattooing has been my guiding light in so many areas of my life, and I am forever in awe of the magic that it holds.
