So that Partner Showcase, huh?
I wasn't able to watch it live on account of being in class, but after watching, I really don't care that I couldn't because there was barely anything interesting in it.
So instead of running through each and every game shown off, I'm only gonna mention the ones that I actually have something to say about.
Let's see, uh... it's good to see Bomberman back in action. Never played his series but it's always nice to see the scrimblos of the internet get some spotlight.
FF7 Rebirth. I'm surprised the Switch 2 can even run that, tbh.
Scott Pilgrim EX. Coolio.
Resident Evil 9. Whoever it was that was playing the background footage needs to get some aimbot going or something.
Bethesda stuff. Todd Howard jumpscare.
But yeah, there really was NOTHING this time round. It kind of says a lot about your presentation if you've had two soccer games shown off in the first ten minutes.
You know what? Maybe if the next State of Play is interesting, I'll cover one of those again to make up for how short this was.
My crossover hyperfixations about 15 years apart
If you put these two groups against one another, I can almost guarantee you that whatever happens in the scuffle, the last ones standing will be Ainz vs SpongeBob
So uh... 2025, huh?
Not gonna lie, last year was kind of ass. Not media-wise, just generally. But regardless of the quality, I've still got a tier list of all the stuff I checked out for the first time, backed up from over six extra months!
and I'll have to divy this up because apparently this was too much for one post. Didn't know that could happen, but okay
Portal 2; Legitimately spectacular. By the end, I didn't want it gone in the slightest Fantastic Four: First Steps; Honest to god? Fully fantastic say that again... 22 Jump Street; Haven't laughed that hard in a while. And not to mention the friggin' Jeff jumpscare Dog Man; I'd say "that's why he's the GOAT", but he's clearly the DOG Thunderbolts*; Wasn't expecting much from this, but talk about a sleeper hit Portal; This was a triumph. I'm making a note here: "HUGE SUCCESS" The Truman Show; Fuck, that was just a legit good movie Final Destination 2; Decent enough, but that "I'm in control of my life" scene was freaking hard The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball; Like the Phineas & Ferb revival, it's like they never left Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl; God damn, Feathers has unimaginable aura for a wordless, flightless bird Transformers One; THE AGE OF BAYFORMERS HAS ENDED! TRANSFORM UP!!! Sherlock Holmes (2009); Decently good, but it left me beyond discombobulated Olive the Other Reindeer; That was sweet. I don't have much else to say, it was really wholesome Marvel Zombies; ...So are we gonna get a follow-up on that cliffhanger before Secret Wars closes the multiverse, or...? Futurama; I don't know if this is better than The Simpsons, but Zapp Brannigan can bite my shiny metal ass! Primitive War; I came for a movie about dinosaurs in 'Nam, I got a movie about dinosaurs in 'Nam. I am satisfied Shaun of the Dead; I feel like I should have watched this at the Winchester, grabbed myself a pint, and waited for this year to blow over Kingdom Hearts Real-Time Fandub; This was pretty funny for a 1-to-99-year-old kid such as myself Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit: Tried to watch this years ago. Wussed out, only came back now, and it was alright Evil Dead 2; Everything needs more Bruce Campbell in it. 'Nuff said Aliens; That was good, but my god, was there technical difficulties. I don't know if I should blame the Xenomorphs or the Gremlins Re-Animator; The fuck you mean this was a Lovecraft story (...Oh god, WHAT WAS THE NAME OF THE CAT IN THIS MOVIE?!) Flow; This movie was basically the assembly of your average JRPG party. All that was missing was for them to kill god Luxo Jr.; I'm surprised I hadn't seen this in full before, aside from Luxo's I-homicidal tendencies Speed Racer; This would be a lot more "peak action" if they stopped cutting in and out of the legitimately cool race scenes, dammit! 9; ...Well, I need new pants Heathers; Take a shot for every 80's movie that got a musical out of it (Don't actually tho, you WILL die) Muppet Family Christmas; It was good seeing Jim himself in this, since it was one of the last things he worked on before his death GSA: Gawblin's Crown; Stopped doing single-episode long abridge series, but this bypasses that. 'twas alright
TO BE FOLLOWED UP IN ON A REPOST
A Minecraft Movie; Heheheh, I put this in C-tier for CHICKEN JOCKEY!! Chao Tales; SEGA, JUST GIVE US THE CHAO GARDENS BACK, WE B E G YOU!! Final Destination; Death, my buddy, my friendo... don't you think there could be a better way to collect your death debts? John Wick 2; Oh, so THAT'S how you kill someone with a pencil! The Evil Dead; Weird seeing Raimi at his youngest and scrappiest. But still pretty groovy Meet the Feebles; Keep in mind that the Muppets have canonically met these guys (And DAFUQ YOU MEAN THIS WAS PETER JACKSON!?) Daredevil: Born Again; I know "born again" was metaphorical, but did Matt survive the Snap? I forget Lego Star Wars: Pieces of the Past; Why was this a separate series and not just season 2? Devil May Cry (Netflix); It had its problems, but I got my enjoyment out of it (Plus a Limp Bizkit appreciation) Superman (2025); This one hurts the most. I wanted to like it, but it just wasn't super, man say that again Mario Kart Arcade GP DX; I SHOULD HAVE WON THAT RACE YOU CHEATING FU- standard Mario Kart affair Final Destination 3; Aside from the tanning booth, really mediocre kills Red One; Is this a Level-Four Bad Movie? Five Nights at Freddy's 2; ...I can't even think of anything funny to say, that kind of just blew Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers; that keycard-copying thing in episode 2 or whatever pissed me the hell off, and this was overall a wasted opportunity Dragon Ball Daima; really putting the "drag" in Dragon Ball, aren't we? Freddy Got Fingered; Well that sucked. Readers, would you like some sausage? Gods of Egypt; Add this to the list of movies that look like an XBOX 360 game Pinocchio: A True Story; Pinoc, when can we leave to be on our own? We've got a bad movie to avoid Bogus Skill: Fruitmaster; The manga was eh, but this absolutely FUCKED with the pacing Mamma Mia; I know this is a musical, but you don't need to go through ABBA's ENTIRE discography! Star Wars Holiday Special; "How did Fett survive the Sarlacc?" Bruh, how did he survive debuting in THIS? Rapsitte Street Kids; OW... my eyes... War of the Worlds (2025); "What's one of the worst movies ever?" IT'S YOU! IT'S YOU!! Foodfight; WotW might be the worse movie, but I think this might be my least favorite movie I have seen. Ever. Of all time
Oh, but just one more thing: there were a few things that I saw, but didn't see enough of for whatever reason. Feel like they deserved a mention regardless
And next time, I'm going to have separate tier lists for the two halves of a year, because my struggles with this are getting ridiculous. Anyways, back to seeing you in 6 months!
So uh... 2025, huh?

"You had a burger in your pocket?"
Well, another year of people's childhood's dying has come and gone, and after the last two years of making it a kind of tradition, I'm back to rank all the newest episodes of DEATH BATTLE! But additionally, I'm gonna be throwing back in the four episodes from 2024 because it's only four episodes. Might as well fold that season into this one, y'feel?
16: Kratos vs Asura: This is an incredibly dead horse, but this episode just did not deliver. Maybe all the hyping up from all the way back at the Ballot days raised expectations?
15: Bardock vs Omni-Man: I really didn't care about the verdict and all, but regardless, THAT SUN DISK THAT I HATE!
14: Master Chief vs Doomslayer: I really don't get why people voted for this over a Shadow vs Mewtwo runback. Like, we ALL saw this outcome coming.
13: Tom vs Wile E. Coyote: Normally, someone who loves cartoons as much as I would be all over a matchup like this, but I didn't really f with it. Not after the year-long wait, the Coyote vs Acme drama, and the fact that Tom shouldn't have lost all his lives from that plane.
12: Blade vs Buffy: The opening vampire-slaying spree was the best part. But after that, some mf's were always trying to ice-skate uphill. And that mf was me.
11: Deku vs Miles Morales: The fight itself was alright, but it gave us Street Slayer Deku, and I will always thank it for it.
10: Simon vs Kyle: My best buddy Time Jester LOVED this episode (Because he's a big Gurren Lagaan fan) but I found it decent enough (DC do more with Kyle, I SWEAR TO THE PRESENCE!)
9: Dante vs Clive: While this one was fine, hot take: Torrian fights aren't always that Smokin' Sexy Style as they claim.
8: Among Us vs Fall Guys: Funny enough even though I thought it would be a mess after its DBcast
7: Ash vs Yugi: Felt like a pretty solid season finale, but it's too bad we didn't see Yugi play Pot of Greed to draw three additional cards from his deck.
6: Shigaraki vs Mahito: I didn't care about the matchup on reveal, but this was pretty surprisingly good. Too bad Mahito couldn't grow up enough to see it.
5: Ghost Rider vs Spawn: Even though this likely harmed the Penance Stare's already growing fraud status, this was pretty good, I'll be damned (YES, YOU WILL).
4: Ruby vs Maka: This was Luis' first try at 3D animation and it was honestly better than anything I had seen in RWBY proper.
3: Joker vs Giorno: You thought that Requiem would take it all, BUT IT WAS I! DIO!
2: Hulk vs Godzilla: (Godzilla) You can't defeat me (Hulk) I know, but he can (Banner) SCIENCE RULES! (But for reals, that was freaking sick. And that scene of Hulk Thunder Clapping back down and powering through an Atomic Breath? Absolute CINEMA)
1: Bowser vs Eggman: What else can I say except BEHOLD THE KING! ANNIHILATING EVERYTHING, IN A SEA OF FLAME!!
And that's about it! Here's to hoping that the next year of DB gets even crazier (And that my win-loss ratio gets better. Seriously, I had 9 losses and 5 don't-cares between OmniDock and now. Joker and Hulk are HARD carrying this season)
This is what happens when you combine shower thoughts with sick thoughts (true story)
How Death Battle’s Champion’s Island is going for two lucky combatants so far…
Kinda wanna write a isekai quartet fic...
Imagine, if you will, the following premise:
Subaru Natsuki was your typical, if a bit lonely, high school student. Although in real life he did not have many close friends, in the virtual world things were different.
There, Subaru made close online friends while playing his favorite MMO game: "ISEKAI" a MMO RPG. Among the various players he met online, he befriended those of his guild, going as far as creating a group chat with them, talking non-stop as they have fun and share memories.
The thing is, their guild had one fundamental rule: Never overshare about their IRL lives.
Despite this, Subaru becomes very close friends with 3 other users in particular: momonga, Silver06 and all_luck_no_skill
One day, after years of chatting, Subaru and three other mutuals decided to meet in real life... only for Subaru to be completely surprised by who his best friends turn out to be!
For starters, and arguably least outlandish out of them was all_luck_no_skill, who was a fellow student of Subaru's school, Satou Kazuma!
The next was Silver06, who turned out to be a very petite girl named Tanya Degurechaf that, despite being shorter than the two high school boys, was in college!
But the last one was truly a shocker: momonga was, in reality, a CEO of a whole ass company?!?!?
Now in a dinner, the four friends must deal with their surprising backgrounds. Will their friendship last?
I totally didn’t read this (knowing nothing about Youjo Senki) and think the “Silver06” username was a Sonic reference. No sir. Not me. Me immediately correlating everything with my favorite Sonic character? Inconceivable
With the recent reveal of the 16 combatants coming into Death Battle's Champion's Island, I've seen a few people (Really just one Tumblr user that a mutual of mine reblogged) sharing their opinions on who they'd like to see win. And I thought to myself "Screw it. This blog of mine is mostly me sharing my opinions in this way, so why not throw my hat into the ring?"
Do note that I will be listing these in order from most wanted to least, as my number 16 will be controversial and I need at least a bit of buffer space to save my hide from crucifixion
But with that out of the way...
Henry Stickmin
Unfortunately, my original GOAT pick of Captain Underpants, didn't make the cut, so I will have to go with my good ol' number two.
Henry would be really fun to see in DB. With the amount of gadgets he has at his disposal, he could really give anyone he fights a tricky time. Though if he does end up dying to his opponent, the battle would HAVE to end on a FAIL screen. That would certainly be one way to complete the mission.
2. Ash Williams
Hail to the king, baby!
But for real, I'm surprised that Ash hasn't been on the show already. The groovy Deadite-slaying champ would be perfect in this setting. Hell, even the analysis could benefit from it, as I can totally see Ash being Boomstick's hero. TL;DR, everything could always use some more Bruce Campbell.
3. Steve Minecraft
Haha funny block man go brrrr.
As is expected for Minecraft, Steve would bring an incredibly creative touch to DB. If his results in Smash Ultimate are anything to go off of. And that's not even mentioning if they give him access to Creative Mode. Steve's opponent would be shivering in their iron boots when first he mines, then he crafts.
4. Meta Knight
Haha Brawl scaling go brrrr.
Meta Knight is a real cool dude, and the last of the Kirby Trio to be used in DB. And like his Kirby brethren, should he get on, he could have an incredible showing of the power that threatened the residents of Dream Land. But the problem is that his most popular MU is against Zero, and I don't really FW that. I'd much prefer he fight someone like Riku, or hell, even Jubei. At least someone who stands a chance, y'know?
5. Samus
It's been over a decade, and we haven't seen ANYTHING Metroid on the show since then. Samus really needs this and an updated analysis, and she didn't even lose last time.
6. Spider-Man
Same story with Samus, except we've seen multiple Spider people since then. Miguel, Gwen, Miles twice (Last time being two episodes ago as of writing this). Peter could really use this, but less so than Samus.
7. Constantine
Constantine's a cool bloke. Sometimes that's all you need to warrant them on DB.
8. Pac-Man
In the year of our lord and savior 2025, the Pac is officially back, so let's get him on the vs debating scene, why don't we? It'd be fun!
9. Shantae
I dunno. I don't know much about Shantae, but I have nothing against her so... eh?
10. Kamen Rider Geats
Honestly, I'm confused. I thought Cap vs Ichigo was the Kamen Rider matchup everyone wanted to see.
I honestly don't know what to say here, as I had literally never heard of this guy until a few days ago. So I guess he's kinda just... mid-road?
11. Slenderman
Something about this one just feels... wrong. I mean, we were so close to getting Sonic.EXE on this contest, which doesn't feel right with me, seeing a creepypasta on DB. Secondly, does Slenderman even have a proper canon? I thought all of his lore was scattered and heresay, like SCP (Which is not a good thing to me) So preferrably, no thank you.
12. Flowey
An Undertale character got in that WASN'T Sans? Most impressive.
But regardless, I don't really know about Flowey. I don't know if it's just the internet numbing me to Undertale, but I'm not that enthusiastic about this series getting in. Not even mentioning how it would work with how game-centrically meta it is.
13. Sakuya Izayoi
Sakuya is what I like to call "A matchup whore" which is a character (Traditionally a very anime one) who seems to get put out against just about everyone you can think of (Other examples include Homura and Goku)
But other than that, I'm not too keen on Sakuya. Tohou is an enigma that I shall never be able to understand, and as much as I love JoJo, seeing her fight DIO (Probably) because she is a JoJo reference isn't that appealing to me.
14. Springtrap
Normally, I'd be okay with Springy-Boy here. He got some new stuff to work with through DBD, so I can feasibly see him in a DB setting. But in a world where people will vote for him to fight *Junko* of all characters? No. That matchup does not work as well as you think it does. Hell, would it even really be Junko fighting and not a million Monokuma? They'd be way better fighting someone like Chucky or the Joker. At least THOSE make sense to me.
15. Frieren
One "trait" about me that I've noticed is that whenever an anime gets so internet-rulingly big, I usually am not interested in it in the slightest and start getting sick of hearing about it, very much in an "Everywhere I go, I see his face" kind of way. Frieren very much falls into this category. I don't really know what she has got, and I don't really feel interested in changing that any time soon.
16. Hatsune Miku
A while ago, I compared my views on "The Batman" to the "I did not care for The Godfather" joke from Family Guy. And in many ways, Miku is the same, if not more accurate. I always saw her, her voice, and everything about her as "too uncanny" if that makes any sense. And it didn't help that her fans can be very vocal and very everywhere, breaching over to the point of "Thing VS thing, but Miku" territory. And now that is starting to carry over into the Champion's Island. In short, I do not like Miku, Tumblr. Her smug aura mocks me. You may crucify me now.
You starting to see why I had #16 at the bottom?
Either way, WIZ AND BOOMSTICK... LET ASH OR HENRY WIN, AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!!!
It has been 10 years since the Lego Multiverse tore itself open. 10 years since the rules were broken. 10 years since the Toys-to-Life genre peaked. And to this day, I still love it with every inch of my heart.
Happy birthday Lego Dimensions; my favorite game by a multiversal mile.
So that September Direct, huh?
No prelude, DIRECT NOW!
Mario 40th Anniversary; I'm likely never going to be able to go to Japan in my life, so I guess the museum stuff just won't apply to me. But nevertheless, happy birthday Super Mario Super Mario Galaxy Movie; And I thought the Sonic movies jumping from Sonic 3&K to Adventure 2 was wild Mario Galaxy collection; (64 and Sunshine still locked through 3D All-Stars): Let us out! Let us OUUUUUT!! Mario Tennis Fever; Let's hope this isn't JUST tennis like Ultra Smash (And I really don't see what Japan sees in the baby characters) Mario Wonder NS2; ...Okay Yoshi and the Mysterious Book; I wonder if there will ever be a Yoshi game that doesn't revolve around a book or arts and crafts... Storm Lancers; I literally saw the Futurama episode that parodied 80's anime last night. It's like the universe is trying to tell me something Dinkum; Oh my god Dirk Dinkum is back... someone tell him to GO AWAY! Popucom; I feel really bad for anyone who's colorblind, friendless, or both who were interested in this Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream; That one Mii really knows what we all want Mortal Kombat Legacy Collection; I wonder what Japan got in their direct, since I know MK is basically banned over there FFVII Remake; Lynked: Banner of the Spark; I completely forgot about this one the moment it moved on to the next. Sorry Hades II; I really wonder if Roguelikes are going to become the new SoulsBorne-likes craze Kirby Air Riders; OK real talk... Swap-Force-like Amiibos aside, does anyone care about anything in this game ASIDE from the City Trial mode, because that's all I've seen about this Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment; You think this'll keep itself canon or just full-on undo it like Age of Calamity did? Dragon Quest VII Reimagined; I totally thought this was gonna be Dragon Quest 12 until it said 7. I don't know jack about DQ Nintendo app and Virtual Boy; Bold move bringing the VB back, Nintendo... bold move Fatal Frame II Remake; I wonder how many of this series' sales were provided by photographers picking it up? NS2 version updates; Neat, I suppose PowerWash Simulator 2; Cool Suika Game Planet; I only know about this game because a YouTuber I watched played it as part of a tournament. Now it's become Mario Galaxy. Cool Metroid Prime 4; So is every Nintendo protag getting a bike now? Link has one, Mario's had one since MK Wii, Kirby kind of does through Air Ride, and now Samus? DK Bananza DLC; Man, DK Isle's looking a lot smaller than I last remember it Pokemon Pokopia; Plot twist: This game winds up confirming the "Ditto is a failed clone of Mew" theory Pokemon Legends Z-A; New Megas aside, revealing paid DLC campaigns before the game comes out is a really bad idea Danganronpa 2x2; (Monokuma): Follow me, and ponder the question... "What if others fell into despair?" Dynasty Warriors: Origin; 2 Warriors in one direct? Satisfactory Monster Hunter Stories 3; I feel like we've seen this in every direct for the whole year Final sizzle reel; Cool, I guess Resident Evil 9 (+ 7&8); So no Raccoon City? (Nukes the city again) Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave; Two questions: 1) Who gave Castlevania Alucard the Sword of the Creator, and 2) SOTHIS?!
A decently fine Direct, even if most of it wasn't for me. But right now, that's all I got time for. I gotta get back to playing Minecraft on my Nintendo Switch
What watching Foodfight! (2012) at 10 PM EST did to me and @time-jester
So that Partner Showcase, huh?
I've really got nothing for this one, so let's just get right to it
Monster Hunter Stories 3; Monster Hunter but BOTW. Okay Once Upon a Katamari; Again, no thoughts, just that one Katamari song everyone knows Just Dance 2026; I feel like it says a lot how I only knew two of the songs shown off in this beforehand... Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero; It's Sparking Zero. What else could I say? Plants vs. Zombies Replanted; From my experience growing up in the late 2000's and early 2010's, you were either an Angry Birds kid, or a PVZ kid. I was part of the former, so I don't really have anything to say here except "cool" FC26; As someone who was part of a junior league soccer team, I can affirm that soccer is one of the most mid sports to ever sport Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac; Aw fiddlesticks, here comes Pac-Man (Again) Final Fantasy Tactics; Okay, I guess Persona 3 Reload; Never really got into 3 as much as I did 5, but neat Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment; Why did the opening shot remind me of Kratos vs Asura? (And can you tell I really have nothing worthwhile to say on this?) Madden NFL 26; Guys, you're never gonna top Madden 08. Just admit it Chillin' By the Fire; If I don't see or hear anyone singing The Campfire Song song, I will be SEVERELY disappointed in you all Apex Legends; Sorry, but I don't play Apex. I have a life, thank you very much Hela; What's the Norse goddess of death got to do with this Stuart Little looking dude? Star Wars Outlaws; I'm sorry, but didn't this game flop or something? Cronos: The New Dawn; Yakuza Kiwami I & II; The music for the Yakuza I part really kicked in my Majima Brand fight or flight Final sizzle reel; Again, I got nothing really The Adventures of Elliot & Octopath Traveler 0; Doing a 2-in-1 for these because if you put a gun to my head and told me to tell the difference between the two, I'd just tell you to pull the trigger
Overall, that really wasn't anything for me, per-se. But I'd still call it better than the Pokemon direct a few weeks ago. At least this one didn't hype us up two months in advance for basically nothing.
I thought up this stupid joke all the way back during last year's Sonic Central and only NOW am I fully realizing it.
I guess you could say it took a lot of TIME, HUH?
