So it's a little late, but I graduated on Saturday!! Well, I walked across the stage in a cap and gown at least. With that, I've officially turned the page on my chapter at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa. I've had lots of ups and downa during my two years here, and looking back on it I don't think I regret the decision to pursue my educational journey here. Sockho, Day 2! After leaving the Jjimjilbang, I wanted to find a place with coffee and semi-western breakfast (even though it's noon). Wasn't sure where to go and was just walking along and I saw a sign that said "Brunch" and I was sold. Good thing too, this cafe is charming and vintage and definitely a place i can curl up with my books. I ordered French Toast, not really sure what to expect, and was super pleasantly surprised. These aren't New Year's Resolutions, per se. More like new semester resolutions. Balance is something I was sorely lacking last semester, everything was one extreme or the other. Its hard to eat healthy in college when money is hard to part with and energy levels plummet by the week, but this is something I want. Something I think I need. And by sharing this with everyone, I think that will create a sense of commitment, knowing that someone else knows my goals. So here's hoping~

Today there is nothing worth celebrating. Because today my baby... my baby had a seizure. And she can't get back up off the ground. And I'm 4500 miles away from her and I'm never going to see her again. She's never going to understand how much I miss her. How much I love her. I can see her on video chat but she doesn't understand. I don't think she can even see me. I've raised her since she was five weeks old. The first week I had her we took her to the vet and they said she had a hole in her heart. I thoughts shwr was going to die. I cried all night. My parents asked me if I wanted a different puppy. I said no matter what I was going to keep her. And now, a month before she turns ten, I'm right back to that spot. Only this time I can't hug her. This time I can't sit on my dad's lap and cry. This time I can't even hope It's going to get better. This time there really is nothing I can do for her. So today there are no fun pictures or silly holidays. Today there is only her. Today there's no reason to celebrate.

So today is #NationalBringYourTeddyBearToSchoolDay. This is my teddy bear. I found him on the side of the road by my apartment in Sinchon and took him in, cleaned him up, and gave him a home. I wonder sometimes, what he might have seen before I found him? His name is Komdungi (곰둥이) and so far he's lived with me in three different homes.
