     three years. good grief. when I first started this blog in 2014, I hadn’t even started university, let alone graduated from it, potc5 hadn’t even begun production, let alone been released in cinemas ( and I’m still not convinced that it wasn’t some weird fever dream ). I certainly never imagined that I would still be here, writing a character that I first fell in love with in 2006 and who still hasn’t given me my heart back eleven years later, and still just as passionate about him as I was when I first started ( and even before, back when I used to write him rather terribly in fanfic lmfao ). so I’d just like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who has written with or talked to me on this blog over the past three years. I would not still be here if it wasn’t for my writing partners, or so many people’s beautiful messages of encouragement – and here’s to the next three years, eh?

Have you ever thought about giving the Kraken a real name? At least to say in private around your crew. Great blog by the way!

the devil.

the kraken is not some mere pet, and she will not be disrespected in such a way. she is a creature of the darkest depths, immensely powerful and deadly. the devil is perhaps the only other title worthy, for she drags her victims down with her. Jones is the only one upon the dutchman allowed to possess a bond with the beast, however, his capability to command the creature is only due to calypso’s enchanting, therefore he sees the kraken as another reminder of his past. she is used as a tool, an intimidation tactic that spreads the captain’s name across the myth infested seas - along with fear. the crew may not see her as anything else for they are also to be reminded of the dangers crossing Davy Jones can bring upon them. the kraken is a name as real as they come, she has earned it and the respect behind it.

( VIXEN )

    TEETH THAT ONE COULD BELIEVE   were actually carved from pearl grit into a seething frustration as she thrashed against the crew member who held her –         ❛  i had t'see for myself – th'man who RUINED th’sea.  ❜

    she’s never known much of the MOTHER OF THE WATERS, as many among her label the goddess. she doesn’t quite CARE to, unless she’s got some magical kind of explanation as to why eliza’s fate of being is the way it is. but the man that she’s been stalking, for lack of a better term – he’s said to be the one who destroyed her, driven the languid and liquid territories to CHAOS. she had to feel it for herself – spread the blame and maybe expend SOMEclarity in vengeance, even if it meant a stubborn death. her own sailor is gone again, and eliza feels frustration and loneliness festering in the pit of her chest.

   she exclaims aloud as the man  ( ? )  lets her go, causing her to go tumbling to the floorboards of the ship, landing on her posterior – it is rather difficult to stand on a TAIL. give it a few minutes, though, and she’d blend in with limbs as plain as the rest of mortality – unlike the others surrounding her. she gains her bearings after the heavy fall, perching up on the dirtied and dripping-wet heels of her hands. eliza glances around at each person who dared toSTARE – she wasn’t foreign to the attention. she walks a line of existence that depends on being in an ENIGMA of spotlight and prize hidden all the same. her eyes land on each creature here, pity brimming along her eyelashes – but when she reaches the captain, disgust encouraged what cruelties wished to push past her lips.

    she sees him studying her tail and flicks it once, if only to taunt him and all other onlookers — straightening her posture to sit up, elbows behind her and balancing her perch.         ❛  — are we no different? CURSED t'this existence of BEING?  ❜

     it’s been a few ticks since she’s been brought from the water – eliza can feel the scales beginning to dwindle and fade in the musty air. the dissipation process is something her body has accustomed to, after many a trip ashore with HER pirate.   ( someone with purpose and HEART. )   but her mind doesn’t currently pay him much thought; love and sympathy seem a far ways away from this ship. the man who stands before her? as far as she can tell, nothing but an empty shell with a loud BARK. she is NOT timid and she is NOT frail like the majority of the fairer existence that she regrettably calls her sisters (despite some still-warped loyalty she pleads).

   wet hair braided at her temples is long enough to dangle plastered over her chest, covering herself with a certain modesty that she cared not one bit for. her own features have a distorted, a fierce and piercing beauty to them – focusing only on the PRISTINE blue eyes that bore RIGHT back at her. both of them seem to wear their curse as a regrettable medal of honor, doing that with it which they place.         ❛  i am no WRETCH.  ❜

man. salt burns at the corners of glaring cerulean, club-like claw twitching against the breeze’s taunting breath and he’s knocked off balance. he’s not been called that in -- it had been so long. time seemed endless now, however, a day feeling like eternity for the sea had built a wall around him and even though transparency lay before him like a glass window leading to the outside world he could not see out of it. perhaps it was the mist within his gaze or the repression, for he could not see past his reflection.

captivated, he is wholly aware of the sea’s children and their enchanting aura. velvet skin, smooth against the skies liberating light and undisturbed - the waves they lurk beneath rolling out every imperfection. flowing hair is braided, locked together like the ocean’s secrets and he is reminded, dragged back and he can only see her. she, the depths’ devil of ethereal beauty and mottled lips part as his vibrant yet empty stare is met with fantastic, bold dignity. 

elegant words cause the ebony image before him to fade and it’s the destructive combination of disappointment and relief that brings forth festering frustration. her choice of words, however, causes his upper lip to twitch as he sneers, heavy leg stepping closer to draw attention away from glimmering scales and exposed skin. 

       “ you know nothing of cursed. ”

this vixen claimed similarity to his suffering and it would most certainly be rejected. representing the very image of the sea and she claims to hurt. claims that the freedom she possesses is a curse. surrounded by calypso’s love. welcomed. Jones was surrounded by pain. anguish. the sea represented nothing more than tears shed and it was a mockery of his anger - every passing wave and he begs for it revoke his sins, alas, he still stands half diminishing man and half callous monster. 

the figure of a woman was slow to reform sea-graced skin and he studies the way she begins to change. studies how even calypso’s children wore more than one face - led more than one life. or maybe it was simply women overall. untrustworthy, deceitful, quick changing and an image of the form before him gasping and choking as his claw crushes away her ability to waste the air plagued his mind though it be the only way to keep himself grounded.

      “ hah.     no ? ”

confidence, honour defending vulnerabilities like a threatened animal and his lips curve, rotting teeth revealed in a crooked grin. though the question still remained - was he the man that ruined the sea ?? or was he the man the sea ruined ??

     “ well I am. ”

( SPARRA )

      It was greatly daring; that he knew. There really was little reason for Jones to keep him alive at this point, but if there was one trump card he’d yet to play then it was this one: his connection to Tia Dalma ( who he now knew was in fact Calypso after overhearing her conversation with Barbossa before they made port at Shipwreck ). Ever since he’d found out the truth, his mind had been left reeling; after all, now that he thought about it, everything suddenly made sense. The song, the story she’d told in her shack… when the Brethren had stolen the ‘queen’ from her bed and bound her in her bones, they’d been talking of an old flame of his.

      ‟ and what if he’s not lying, eh? ”

     His eyes narrowed a fraction, the corner of his lip turned upwards in a knowing smirk, all too aware that he’d managed to hit his mark. As he’d already discovered, Davy Jones’ weakness lay in his emotions, in the rage that fuelled the cruelty he inflicted on others – and now Jack knew thesource of it.

     The satisfaction on his face subsided a little as he watched the conflict play out across the distorted, monstrous features of what was once a man, and felt a twinge of relief as Jones shifted his gaze out towards the horizon.

     ‟ an old friend. ” His answer was accompanied by a half-shrug, unable to bring himself to lie and say that she’d been any more than that. They’d had something, once, but Jack knew that it wasn’t on the level of what she’d shared with Davy Jones. But there was still one thing he had left toliterally dangle in front of the other’s face, and so his fingers reached to untie the compass from his belt. ‟ she was ever so kind as to barter this to me once upon a time, mate. you are of course aware that she’s spent the last… however many years as an Obeah woman, helping me and others out of binds for a price in return, are you not? ”

      Taking a step forward of his own, he cocked his head to the side, lowering his voice. ‟ she even offered me assistance in finding that chest of yours, Jones. ”

even after years of no contact, years of building a reputation, a status, a separate entity of a personality which enforced itself over every deep dwelling emotion to keep him looking strong and heartless - her name was all it took, a mere mention of what had once been before he felt a sea of metaphorical tears swamping at his ankles - ankle. he only had to hear her name to feel a storm thunder throughout him.

clairvoyance spikes along the hidden skin of his neck and he can sense the other’s smirk, almost feel it spread across the others lips and his index tentacle screws up into a ball - its patchy skin whitening from his seething rage. an old friend suggested time, a long length of time rather than new and he feels his superiority quiver, competition a threat as he senses jack’s perception, that he perhaps had an advantage over Jones amidst his bewildered flow of emotions and he wouldn’t stand for such security within his presence.

there’s a harsh clunk as he slams the point of his leg into rotting wood, the plank splintering beneath him as he points his claw. 

       “ the kraken has a talent for wiping expressions such as those clean off. ”

it’s a warning, disrespect shall not be tolerated no matter how vulnerable he may appear. topaz hues glare at the compass like its some kind of weapon and his bare brows furrow even more, if such was possible. he looks to jack’s face, his words fire wood to his growing flame before what leaves him last has him storming closer until their faces are a mere few inches apart. calypso had not only encouraged, but offered an assist in locating his only physical weakness. in locating what she had caused to be torn out in the first place. he was more than hurt. more than angry. no longer wallowing in a pit of despair, he just wants to watch the world burn. to watch jack burn. for calypso to watch with him and know that it was all because of her. she had caused the death of so many innocent souls. she was the cause of the blistering inferno that snarled like a feral beast within him.

         “ you barter for your life with a weak perception of cruelty. tell me, sparra, what purpose do you serve t' the living’a ?? I see none. ”

{ so I was watching at world’s end back because I pick up new things every time and !!!!! I’ve only JUST noticed the buckets behind jones and I’m lAUGHING because all this time I’ve wondered how he got onto the beach in that bucket ?? did they carry him or ?? and that image was funny but hELL this means that jones actually had to pretty much do STEPPING STONES in order to get there and im just picturing him hopping along and beckett’s face just kinda says “let’s never discuss what just happened” because will and cutler having to help davy into each bucket so he didn’t fall onto the sand and oH GOD this is just hilarious to me ok }
