THE LONG-AWAITED WEBSITE!!!!
It's not perfect- Strawpage's design tools are... not great- but I did my best to bring you all a Tumblr-free transcription of all my lessons. This is probably the most labor-intensive thing I've done for this page (next to the character polls). Four months of blood, sweat, and tears... and now, she LIVES!!!!
Some Notes:
I created it with the intent of Desktop use, so Mobile might have some issues. If it's not working on your phone, try desktop.
Out of the multiple browsers tested (Firefox, Google, Edge, Brave, Safari), Firefox had some issues sporadically.
I'm still going to post lessons on here, first. This page is priority to me, and the website is more of an archive.
The fonts are normal past this opening page.
I will be adding a portion to send funds soon, if'n you are feeling kind and generous.
Thank you all for your patience while I worked on this. It was a labor of love and I hope that it shows. 🙏🏾 Happy scrolling!
Reminder that if you get sick of Tumblr but still want to create Black characters, I have a website 👍🏾
I'm playing @2026-book-bingo this year and this is my first entry!
"Minu Hiina" by Jens Veende is a 2025 entry in the popular series of travel books in Estonia. I debated putting it in cultural nonfic, but landed on university setting, since it chronicles the authors adventures as a university student in Beijing. It was a very cool read for me especially, since I am in a very similar situation to the author in my own studies, so it got me to reflect on my goals and gave me motivation for the upcoming semester:D The style was very easy to read and flowed seamlessly from scene to scene, ideal read for a long drive.
I also introduced this bingo to my Estonian grandma, I'm very excited to compare our boards
Alright second book. "Less" by Andrew Sean Greer.
This book really toyed with me. The first 2/3 of the book I felt that this is not the story I was promised and that I did not enjoy it as much as I thought I would. But there was a turning point of very precise satire that recontextualised the previous parts, making them enjoyable in retrospect. I was also so tense and anxious in the last few chapters, I felt a tragedy was inevitable, but I guess I should have listened to Carlos' words not his actions.
Definitely worth the read, this book gave me above all, many hard hitting quotes about innocence love and foolishness.
So I just met this book today. I was in the TLÜ academic library when I saw a bunch of LR books on the windowsill free for the taking. I must say, it's doing a great job at promotion, I am already itching to get a LR subscription. Anyways. My third book is: "The Madman, His Parables and Poems" by Khalil Gibran.
Ah, I remember so vividly my first time picking up a Gibran book. It was the light festival, so autumn must have been well on its way, but it was still light and warm. I sat on the white park bench surrounded by roses and read "The Prophet". This book took me right back.
The main question going through my head the whole time while reading this was if I could get away with using this for the non-human mc square. The pov character definitely doesn't read very human - the madman seems a spirit of humanity, a philosophical exercise given life or sometimes the son of god himself. But no, at the core of it it is still the need of one man to express himself. And what could be more human.
It's interesting that the translator is by the last name Alliksaar, as this book and especially the last poem reminded me a lot of Artur Alliksaar's work, especially "Autoportree".

Aahhhhh I was really hoping to get in two books a month, but alas. I'll make it up during summer.
For independent publisher I've got "Dinner for Six" by Lu Min, translated by Nicky Harman and Helen Wang and published by Balestier press.
This was actually a pick by my school's Chinese book club (I'm sure there will be many more of those on this board) and I was lucky to spend 2.5h of my evening tonight discussing this book with them. There's just so much. So many themes. As the title suggests, the book is about six characters and divided into six chapters. It deals with family trauma, grief, poverty, queerness, societal taboos, domestic violence, industrialisation, pollution, middle aged sexual desire, there is so so much here. More than anything it's a very intimate look into these characters' heads and how they interpret and justify everything they do.
My favourite part about this book is probably how the story is constructed. It keeps throwing you bits and pieces of the future that it explains chapters and chapters later, giving the book a real sense of momentum. The POVs come together masterfully, each one revealing something crucial we didn't know before. The prose flows wonderfully, I never got bored or stuck reading it, in fact I was eager to pick it up each evening. Great book!
Alright, it's been a while.
My goal of two books per moth is out the window now thanks to the usual spring crunch combined with picking two veeery long books that i still haven't finished yet. In the meantime though two new entries:
For the manga "The Other World's Books Depend on the Bean Counter" by Yatsuki Wakatsu. I found this series in a youtube comment and the hook is certainly interesting. In the end I read around five volumes i think. In the beginning i really enjoyed it, but the further we got, the flatter the characters seemed and i really didn't enjoy the possessive sort of dynamic. It was a bit of a let down for me unfortunately:(
But then what better way to pick myself up again by finally caving and buying that gorgeous gorgeous special edition of "Heaven Official's Blessing" and binging it in two days. I'm really hoping to reread the whole series now (I was in middle school last time i read the whole thing!!!:O). Certainly a devastating financial decision, but sorely needed for my soul. MXTX you are a literature god among mortals.

"I love you but you're doing wrong in a way I cannot condone" and "I hate you but you're being wronged in a way I cannot stomach" are top tier and I need more of them.
Gonna make one hundred soups this year. Starting off with kapustnyak, carrot soup, chickpea soup, and parsnip soup.
4% complete.
8% complete baybeee. This may end up being a long post. Hope you like the colour of the soup.
Can't stop won't stop. 15 soups so far.
Slowed down for a minute because vet bills ate up my grocery budget but made it to 20%, baybEEEE.
Whoops I slowed down but BAM, 25%. I'm gonna make a comeback baybeeEEEE.
I AM BECOMING SO POWERFUL
Four new BEAN BASED SOUPS, the first one trailblazing because it was a taco soup recipe courtesy of @alex-of-1000-dumbasseries. 61 IN THE BAG, 39 TO GO.
I am also linking my soup planning doc because I can, and it's easier than tagging all of them individually.
Have I lost all my followers yet? NOT YET. Time for more soups. I'm up to 70 now.
OP this is a gorgeous post and I’m so proud of you
Thank you, I will take these codfish words to my grave. Also, I have achieved 8 more, putting me at 77 soups. How is 70 plus 9 photos 77? I'm glad you asked.
Earlier, I forgot to include a photo of my cock-a-leekie-soup (#57) - pictured above as the first one of this set - and also I MADE TARATOR TWICE by accident so I've struck one from the record since I'm trying to make 100 soups here, not 99 and one twice.
A new bowl approaches. Bought myself some soup bowls from the 70s with goofy little geese on them for my own birthday (though I did not get them in time for my miyeok-guk), because what else is free will for. This puts me at 86. I JUST MIGHT MAKE IT? SOMEHOW?
A COLOURFUL BATCH featuring another Certified Tumblr Soup because people kept recommending Yeto's Soup, and they were right.
How am I at 92? ALL MY LIFE I'VE BEEN A QUITTER.
100/100!
Happy Mother’s Day ☺️💖💛 (based off their tomodachi life daughter)
