It's also really interesting how part of trRos and trAimsey's argument with trBad and trLukey tonight came down to "Well, (tr)Pili wasn't actually doing anything to Pangi today", with the exact phrase, "he wasn't teasing Pangi" being thrown around
But like. Pili was. He very much was
Anyone who's been paying any bit of attention to Pangi's pov since early February knows that he and Pili 2 have a very tense relationship. It started with stalking on Pangi's part, and then he gave up on the idea of Pili 1/Mocha being back about when Pili 2 started engaging in psychological warfare and abuse against him
Pangi killed Pili 2 over Pili destroying part of the book that Mocha left him. After that, Pili started to retaliate by making Pangi as miserable as humanly possible; moreso, I'd say that Pili's objective, speaking as a Pangi viewer myself, kinda was to make Pangi look as absolutely just batshit insane to the rest of the server
For weeks now, Pili has been trying to get Pangi's friends away from him. Started with Bad, but that was given up on pretty quickly. Tried Lukey, but the Power of Yaoi stands strong (Pili 1's ghost didn't exactly help though lol.) Krow was never an option, especially since it heard Pili try and force Pangi to go on a date with him. Moves on to Ros, joins Yellow Faction, easily convinces Sneeg and Co. that Pangi and Green are huge risks
All the while, he's been psychologically abusing Pangi by at first taunting him over Mocha's death, going so far as to say that the reason Mocha died was because he killed himself over Pangi. But then he moved on to the whole Remove Friends thing as mentioned above
Add in the whole 'Keeps Getting Possessed By Mocha And Stuff' thing that nobody from Yellow happens to ever see, and it really just sounds like Pangi is completely deranged
And then, after Pangi kills him, Pili goes one step further. He brings in one of Pangi's friends from another realm- Pangi's best friend, who he always speaks fondly of, and he takes him to the ball that he knows he is going to die at. He knows that bringing Zam will get him killed, because he and Pangi just know each other, and he makes a point of rubbing it in Pangi's face all night by the simple act of being on a date with Pangi's best friend
And, guess what happens? Pili dies. He gets his wish. And Zam wants revenge against Pangi, he wants to grind and get strong and teach Pangi a lesson, and now Pangi's lost one more friend to Pili 2
So, yes, Pili 2 did tease Pangi all night. It just so happens that, as usual, the only people who noticed were on the team that nobody trusts or listens to. And Scott Smajor
Just as it's been for the past month, Pili 2 tormented Pangi, and his final living act was ensuring that the rest of Pangi's life would be miserable. He's lost Ros and Aimsey. He can't go back to his own home without the threat of getting a mace to the skull. He can't go to the Lab to be with his teammates, isolating him even further
Pili 2 was Pangi's version of Owen to Ros. The difference is that people cheered when Ros killed her abuser; all Pangi gets is a lifetime of misery, exactly what Pili thought he deserved
also for anyone who didn't catch blockwars, tldr they all sucked (didn't win) and after the event sneeg joined clowns vc to yell at him a bit ! and clown told sneeg he'd streamsnipe him on marvel rivals and told the chatters to make their display name clownpierce related to gaslight him if they kill him <3
I think Barrier Blocks should be mandatory reading for all lifestealers, particularly the part about Play and what it is.
Unproductive, Free, Separate, Uncertain, and Governed By Rules or Make Believe
Because this is the fundamental core of what made lifesteal lifesteal, something that they instinctually knew, something that came from the fact that all of them were tiny content creators at the start so it was not all "work" yet, something that governed the simultaneous seriousness and nonseriousness in regard to "right" and "wrong" actions taken by the players.
Mer explains and quotes scholarly articles far better than a little summary post by me could. But I have always found it fascinating how lifesteal is both a place of Play and a place where work (videos) are created. How there is a pendulum swing where s3 felt more like Play than Work while now the pendulum is closer to Work than Play as there is less free time post-highschool and more weight to the success of the videos.
Maybe there would be less conflict on the server if there wasn’t a faction whose entire life hangs on causing chaos and clip farming.
The admins said it themselves weeks ago- Tango even said it to Pangi directly on stream, the creative kills are meant to be clips. That’s why pvp doesn’t count even though there can be some REALLY creative pvp plays, and even though you can get some really popular clips out of it (see: Pangi killing Tubbo.) It’s also why it’s now against the rules for anyone to give their lives for Red Team like Foolish did, that isn’t ‘exciting’ enough
It’s the same logic that Purgatory was run under: everything had to have the capacity to go viral. Former admins said that the teams were split the way they were to create the most conflict possible, and that seems like what’s going on with the Realm.
A lot of people have started complaining about how much chaos and violence there is on the Realm these days, and they’re also following the Purgatory Way and blaming everything on one specific group of people (Red and Green Teams) rather than acknowledging the flawed server system as a whole.
If Red Team doesn’t get an ‘exciting’ kill, they all die. This is inherently flawed because it forces people into specific actions while ignoring the purpose of the server: personal choice and freedom. The server wasn’t meant for lore! Tubbo said as much before day one, but this was immediately changed as soon as the Red Team was introduced. Now, people joining the server are forced into the Red Team and told they have to kill. Sure, they can not- like Sausage and uh. The majority of Red Team, who haven’t really logged on past day one- but they’re still bullied and attacked by the other characters for the simple crime of being on Red Team. Unlike the other factions, Red Team never got a choice. They aren’t allowed to change teams, and nobody from another team can join their team (except Jack Manifold ig.) They’re all forced into the role of villains with no choice to join, say, Blue or Yellow.
All this has done is created the conflict that people are complaining about. Nobody on Green can show where they live because it’ll be trapped by Ros or Aimsey. Pangi and Pili can’t sit on a roof and talk without being condescended to and accused of wrongdoing. Foolish can’t talk to Pili without being looked down upon by his kingdom.
And then the players who wanted a low-stakes casual server can’t join anymore because everything ties back to ‘Us vs Them’. Slimecicle dipped on day one, probably because he’s done wkth MCRP. How many players stopped logging in once there started being lore and conflict essentially forced upon them by the server’s very rules?
Every time someone on the server has come up with an alternative to the violence and chaos, such as getting people who don’t join to voluntarily get killed by Red Team, it’s shut down by the admins. Meanwhile, there appears to be favoritism towards the server’s ’good guys’, like Ros’ and Tubbo’s protection butterflies or rule changes that only seem to benefit them. While some of those rule changes are because members of Red or Green find out ‘loopholes’, it’s also kind of crazy how every rule change has benefited Yellow and Blue and hurt Green and Red.
Is this favoritism purposeful? Almost absolutely not, but it is convenient for causing conflict. Tensions rise as a result of all these things combined, and it’s all manufactured and really just not fun to watch anymore. Yellow is sick of being ‘targeted’, Blue is sick of Green and Red existing, and Red is sick of having to kill. (Green is just kind of vibing tbh, they’re chaotic and violent even without the killing rule.)
Even if the factions event ends soon, which I hope it does for the sake of the server, the fandom won’t be any less toxic. The conflict will continue in some way because this is what the server has built up as its base for content: conflict. None of it is natural, it’s all manufactured, and it’s all extremely Not Fun.
So don’t get angry at Red for killing and trapping, that’s all they were created to do. And that will never change.

Context- Sneegsnag built a doohickey to grind alchemy exp which was banned by admins for being too automated. So he built a bigger, more evil (but legal) Twohickey to grind it instead and only he, Clown and Ros know the location. It’s efficient BUT it’s loud and repetitive and mind numbing to the point where it’s driven people insane (see below). And when Clown was using it recently he forgot to empty the storage after using it, so 3 days ago the three end up in a call that snowballs from Sneeg berating Clown for misusing the machine to Sneeg and Clown bickering for effectively an hour whilst poor Ros attempts to mediate (whilst I’m pretty sure having insanely high sugar because she didn’t fix her insulin pump for three hours..).

3:31:10– Healing pot in the awkward potion section of the Twohickey?! Sneeg lodges a customer complaint. Clown throws redstone blocks into the hoppers as Sneeg threatens to get freaky and start freaking out. Clown dares him. They accuse the other of driving them crazy.
3:32:06– Clown doesn’t appreciate the Twohickey pt2 S:“He’s all up in my Twohickey messing with it.” R:“We can move on from this […] we can forgive and forget”
3:32:31– Clown admits Sneeg has a nice doohickey; they argue over Clown’s relationship to the doohickey given he never met it. C:“Maybe we had something deeper than knowing. […] More than vibes…[a word that sounded like “penis”].”
3:35:26– Clown announces an inbound “uncrunched” glass bottle. S:“I’m used to him disappointing me at this point”. Clown griefs the hoppers with redstone again. Ros takes some deep breaths. S:“Can’t stand this guy- where’d you get him?” R: “Off the street.”
3:37:40– Everyone comes to the Twohickey just to make Sneeg upset…he and Clown start kicking off about how close they are to the Twohickey again. They start punching each other.
3:38:43– Sneeg demands Clown’s execution- “he’s being a weenie and I don’t like it”. He regifts Clown’s redstone to Ros and Ros tries to talk about feelings. Clown feels peeved. Argument intermission- dunk on Ros for not mercy killing a suffocating turtle! R:“I don’t think I can do this any more” S:“Just leave me like everybody. Just like Phil”. Ros regifts sneegs regifted redstone back to Clown. Clown starts trying to steal the things Ros throws to Sneeg.
3:40:56– Heartwarming: The most Divorced people you know are brawling (while Ros unsuccessfully mediates)
3:41:30– Sneeg seeks melon sanctuary- Clown begins threatening to spawncamp the turtle eggs. Ros also threatens to do so if they don’t stop fighting.
3:42:37– Sneeg hits Ros and he and Clown start brawling again until Ros is caught in the crossfire. She tries to come up with punishments them and Sneeg proclaims victory (Clown sounds like a really stubborn child here I think it’s super funny). They start to punch each other again for a “friendly handshake”.
3:44:32– C: “no more arguing”
3:45:06– Clown asks Sneeg to scratch his back. Sneeg fart’n on em instead (this is relevant later) and runs back to the Twohickey. Ros would kill Sneeg if she were Clown.
3:48:24– Ros praises the brief reprieve

3:49:56– Ros puts the coal back and Clown gets offended claiming Ros also thinks he’s a liar
3:50:34– Clown suggests Sneeg is insecure about how much coal he has. S:”I have more it’s just in a different chest you don’t know about them. […] a chest […] in a different base.” - Sneeg.
3:52:10– Sneeg is lagging, Clown accuses him of changing the subject. S:“Oh now he’s DDoS-ing me […] because I’m right.” R:“Guys please I’m gonna cry” C:“This family’s falling apart Sneegsnag.” S:“You’re not my son. You’re my op.” Clown threatens to sit on the only available seats (turtle eggs)
3:53:19– Clown starts drinking. Sneeg starts shooting him- “You’re so dastardly”, whilst Clown yells “YOU DID THIS TO ME”. Ros nearly drowns herself.
3:54:31– They argue over whose fault it is that Ros started drowning herself and she takes the deepest, shakiest breath.
3:55:08– They argue over who is stupid whilst Ros desperately tries to mediate. S:“Ros, kill him twice.” Ros starts cracking turtle eggs and Sneeg calls them both toxic.
3:57:12– S:“Alright I’m done” (he is not done). “I do actually hate Clown though.” R:“I think I just lost 10 years of my life due to stress.”
3:58:02– Pili Dtowncat announces ng2 lv100 alchemy in chat. The Twohickey’s inhabitants are too preoccupied with arguing.
3:58:08– Clown notes the ingredients for a Strength potion under his breath. Sneeg accuses him of pilfering again. Clown asks Ros to get him glowstone (this will be relevant later).
3:59:15– Passing Sneeg dig at Clown over him keeping the potions he makes; they argue over allays’ ability to talk.
4:01:34– Ros asks everyone’s favourite colours. S:“potion”. C:“I haven’t been able to see colours ever since Sneeg farted on me I’m not gonna lie.” They argue over the potency of Sneeg’s farts.
4:07:21– Ros brings up getting the glowstone; Clown doesn’t need it- he’s “no longer filled with anger”. Sneeg clocks he was going to use the Strength potion on him, which Clown denies. Clown defends from BBH accusations by claiming his killings are “perfectly intentional”.
4:08:20– They argue over Clown saying he’s going to start using the twohickey.
4:09:27– They fail to argue about the proper way to use the Twohickey because Sneeg can’t get the words out. C:“[…] we use this thing in completely different methods.” S:“Yeah d’you wonder- you- and you know why that- you- y- y- and you- *bursts out laughing*” “I’m done I can’t.” (still lying)
4:10:30– They are definitely not waiting for Ros to leave to start arguing again. They decide they might actually have to be friends because Ros is willing to lock in
4:13:46– Sneeg tells Clown he means nothing to him for real not lore. They fight over The DM (not an actual dm) that would get Sneeg banned off twitch
4:15:05– Clown’s eyes have been tear filled the whole time (whether this is due to Sneeg farting on him or bullying him idk). Sneeg “tries to help”
4:19:37– Brief argument over Clown apparently being mean about Sneeg doing a voice. S:“You lost me.” C:“…I know…” (condescending)

Cirqueduo then went on to live a long tumultuous life making their fights public (See the next day). Ros is still hanging in there which is frankly the most impressive part because most of chat was losing it.

Devotions though, I'm back thinking about Spoke's video. When Spoke told them he was scripting the dupe war with parrot: Zam's devastating "it's scripted" filled with all the disappointment, sorrow, betrayal, devastation that those two words could be filled with.
Mapicc's "I'd rather be banned than this be scripted".
This is why they're them. This is why everyone looks at them with a healthy little bit of fear, unsure what move they will make. (Zy's post about mapicc got me thinking about this.)
Bc imo it's this. This pure and purified distain for scripting.
Mapicc will exploit/cheat/go too far/murder before questions to stop a scripted story: to stop someone from dominating a story with their own plan without getting the input from the team. He will do that sporadic shit if it makes sense to him. And it really only has to make sense to him. Your script be damned.
Zam's incessant figure-it-out-as-he-goes mentality towards the story. Staying consistent with the character but always reassessing, always rethinking, always being moved by the narrative that others present.
It makes both of them incredibly consistent but also incredibly erratic for the other members.
And especially with like mawn, mapicc just going for the plan with no plan just an outline maybe. taking the conversations, making assumptions, doing things and seeing what happens. And then he gets blindsided by this mentality from zam as well where he thought zam would join or oppose but zam just chose.. sitting out. And for reasons that made perfect sense to himself.
fuck it, i'll write it in this post: both have this very particular way of making videos on lifesteal.
There's two general categories of lifesteal videos:
get the idea to happen on the server and the video is about making it happen, culminating in the success. Generally they go until they make it happen no matter how long it takes.
have an idea at the start the video, and see where it goes, ending wherever makes sense.
Devotions hit that second category more often than not. Mapicc still does the first occasionally, but mawn is a great example of it. The oath is another. The joker, abyss, castle (from both sides), even dupe war from their pov. The dupe was already a sure thing when they started the video, what progressed was what they did with it.
They both so fully embrace the wildness that is unscripted mcrp in a way that goes beyond a lot of the members, even as, obv, unscripted is the law of lifesteal.
Cause like, wormhole is a fantastic example of the first. And the "problem" (difficulty) with it is you don't really have a video if it never happens. So you veer closer and closer to making it happen at any cost.
It's also interesting to think of Leo's trapping Flame video as the first, especially as, for that type of video, his first traps had to fail for the video's progression, but then it got out of hand and he went for the void and an end crystal used in dubiously illegal ways. But the video could not end until Flame died.
Flame's 10v1 is another example of the first. And mapicc went *nope* and objected to Flame thinking it would be that easy to force the server around when it got a little difficult (planning is difficult).
I love both categories fr. but its so interesting to look at the videos and the server because on so many levels, the narrative that bounces around the members is "if I can figure out the video idea, i get what they're doing", which works perfectly for the first, but with the second, and we've literally seen this so much with s5, with the second it's like, okay I get the video idea; why are you still doing it. And the reasoning is so much more hidden and not understood from the outside even though from the inside it's the most logical and obvious series of events.
And what is most fun is how the death star was 1 and then became 2. And the second it shifted from "i will make a death star" into "we made a death star and it didn't work: what next?" was precisely the moment Mane could not understand why Minute would take the 1v1. Because this type of video is not about the results, it's about the journey. It's about standing up for what you believe in. It's about seeing how people react.
And all of that leads to a player who is confusing and unknown and a little bit scary. Who might just end the world, or maybe just your world.
