This blog is not and never will be a place where transphobia is accepted or welcome.
This fandom is far too tolerant of bigotry towards queer people, and it’s frankly disgraceful.
By promoting the content, blogs, feelings, etc. of bigots, you are making queer Tolkien fans unsafe here.
If you make space for transphobia in your fandom, you are excluding trans people. You are making this space unsafe for us. You are BEING TRANSPHOBIC.
You do not get to pretend to be a trans ally and then support people who hate trans people. If you do this, you are not an ally. You are part of the problem.
If you actually care about trans people, LISTEN TO US when we tell you how to support us.
It hurts, a lot, to see how many people are calling this drama, calling it cancel culture, calling it harassment.
No. Trans people are harassed every day for daring to be ourselves. This is trans people speaking out against those kinds of people.
Transphobes are BIGOTS. If they decide to unlearn their bigotry and make amends, they can Stop Being Bigots.
Trans people are PEOPLE. We cannot stop Being Who We Are.
If someone is upset at being excluded? They can try and unlearn their bigotry. Being a bigot is not an identity or a way of life: it is something you can change.
What will not change is that queer and trans people exist, that we deserve safety, love, support, and places to express ourselves. Bigots threaten that, no matter how their prejudice manifests.
This is bigger than fandom. Take the time to consider the impact that entertaining bigots and their beliefs has on the people towards whom their bigotry is directed. Take the time to consider how welcoming transphobes into your communities opens the door to transphobic violence that attmepts to silence us and erase us from existence.
Do not allow TERFs to gain ground in this fandom. Do not defend them. Do not platform transphobes. Do not support bigots of ANY kind.
