(just a long Headcanon about my team and perhaps why it was put together?)
Eventually, the Traveller is going to snap. They’re going to get fed up with being the errand-runner and archon wallet and they’re gonna go off-grid and cut contact with everyone. Their goal is to speed-run meeting the Archons and then destroying the Abyss with Dainsleif, if only to stop their sibling. Paimon convinces them to form a team of people to help them and Dainsleif, so the Traveller gets picking. They select powerful elemental Vision bearers with minimal connections to Celestia who have nothing to lose from the death trip that is going to the Abyss
Kazuha is the first asked and the first to agree to join the Traveller. His ability to successfully use two Visions at the same time, traverse large cities invisibly and his knowledge on history make him a huge asset. He is also the first to understand the gravity of the Traveller’s goal.
Next is Shen He, the singular woman powerful enough to send Beisht running by herself. Her sheer elemental capabilities land her at the top of the Traveller’s list of allies. She agrees to join not just to aid the Traveller, but more importantly to destroy the Abyss
Last on Traveller’s list is the one they are most reluctant to ask for aid. When the rag-tag team approach the Dawn Winery to meet with the only mortal man to not be negatively affected by the use of a Delusion with a personal vendetta against the Abyss, it’s with the assumption that Master Diluc will decline the offer. After all, it’s been agreed upon that none of them are retuning to their homes the same, if even alive.
To their surprise, Diluc thinks on the offer overnight and agrees by the morning, sealing his newly drafted will into a box that is not to be opened until he is reported dead or missing for over a year and writing a long letter to a certain Knight Captain that was to not be sent until three weeks had passed, effectively putting distance between Diluc and any well-meaning pursuers.
With the team assembled, the Traveller and Co. journeyed straight to Sumeru to meet with Dainsleif and Kusanali, beginning their campaign against the Abyss that will send them all across Teyvat and into the darkness below
What the Traveller does not notice until Kusanali and Dainsleif point out to them is that their selected companions have a more nuanced existence than just wanderers and aristocrats. Kazuha bears an Anemo Vision of Freedom and hails from the land of Eternity, which had been locked away from the outside world until challenged with a new idea of Eternity by rebels like Tomo, the Traveller and the Resistance Army. Shen He carries the element of Cryo - even with its meaning debated between Love and Spite - but it is agreed that it is an emotional element, something that the rigid laws of the land of Liyue need to be reminded of every once in a while. And Diluc carries a Pyro Vision - the only person to ever reawaken their own Vision - but is from the land of Freedom. However, what is Freedom without a fiery Passion to motivate the people?
Not only are these three some of the strongest elemental users in the world, but they also represent attributes that their homelands desperately need; Freedom in Eternity, Emotion in Constructs and Passion in Freedom.
It’s almost as if fate itself selected this team to cleanse the world of the Abyss’ curse
i love the way you put them all together
