Hunter, on the other hand, didnât rent a car because he couldnât bother. He knew most of his time would be spent at the hotel anyway and attending the scheduled events for an hour or so. Renting a car was just too much. He figured arriving on time would do him good - that meant he could leave early, before everyone starts to get too drunk and too nostalgic. He didnât have anything to feel nostalgic over - maybe a few late nights arguing choreography and song choices with Sebastian. Or maybe the fact that he had both their coffee order memorized because of those late nights.Â
It was with that in mind that he stepped out of the car, checking the building in front of him. It looked the exact same as it did 10 years ago, and it would probably look the same for the next 100 years to come. He was checking he ride receipt on his phone when he heard Sebastianâs voice - of course he knew who that voice belonged too. Hunter couldnât stop thinking about it since their meeting at the bar the other day. âSebastian. Hello,â he greeted him with a smile, pocketing his phone. âDid you just get here as well?â Because even though it looked like it, there were no other cars around. Maybe Sebastian had brought his own, maybe it was parked somewhere else, but the Captain of the Warblers couldnât help but wonder. â⊠This is so⊠weird,â he said, his eyes eyeing the place. And he wanted to ask Sebastian if he had ever felt like he belonged at Dalton, because Hunter hadnât. And still didnât.Â
Sebastian raised his eyebrows as he eyed the phone the other man had pocketed when he approached, and couldnât help but wonder if it was something else work related. He glanced up when Hunter spoke, actually letting the smirk soften into a small smile. With Hunter right here in front of him, it was easy to focus less on everything that heâd done wrong in the past, and it was easier to think about the sheer fun heâd never admit he had when they were planning and preparing to go to LA for the competition. Teaching the choreography for the songs they performed to get them there, the sense of accomplishment that came with putting their trophy in the display case in the Commons. It all came back to just how much Hunter helped him, even without knowing he was doing so.Â
âHey, Hunt. Howâve you been since Saturday? Yeah, I just arrived before you did, actually. That hotel breakfast food is fucking awesome, right?â He teased and glanced back toward the building as he dropped the smile once more. âIt is weird, coming back here now. Last time I was here, I hated that clock. But Iâm kinda realizing how much I miss that loud chiming at 8am,â Sebastian chuckled, shaking his head as he made a point to give the clock tower the middle finger. He'd preemptively gotten a pack of cigarettes before arriving. A habit he'd kicked a few years back but felt the need to bring back, just for this month. As it grew closer and closer to noon, he felt the urge to pull one out but he could already hear the lecture. "Itâs going to be weird walking the halls again. You and I were a dynamic duo in there.â
