Keith rolled his eyes, arms folded. Another bonding exercise.  Yay.

And then he paused.. and sighed.  It had been a little while since he saw Lance, having separate missions, one after another.

And Keith had missed him.

With eyes dropping off to the side in thought, the red paladin went over in his mind all the things he remembered thinking when they were apart.  Sure, Lance grated on his nerves.  Keith was still trying to wrap his head around why the other often seemed to have it in for him, but..  He remembered their conversation in the control room.  He remembered Lance having nightmares, and not pushing Keith away when he tried to help..

“You… you’re a good listener..”  he began.  Embarrassed, his face heated a bit, as it felt like everyone was watching him.  And then, remembering their fight in the bathroom, he rubbed the back of his head gently, where Lance had hit him with a shampoo bottle.  And he smirked a little.

“And you’ve got good aim.”

“I’m...?”

Keith actually giving him sincere-sounding compliments was the last thing Lance had expected from this exercise. Maybe something backhanded, like ‘well he doesn’t always screw up’. But this...

It made Lance edgy, purely because he couldn’t quite believe it. Keith’s tiny smirk was what clinched it for him.

Keith was totally insulting him somehow. He was just being sneaky about it so that Shiro and Coran wouldn’t know. What bit was that Lance couldn’t figure out the insult either. But then, that wasn’t so uncommon that it wasn’t completely believable--it had happened back on the very first night of their adventure, when they’d been fleeing the Garrison on Keith’s hoverbike, after all.

“Yeah. Thanks, Keith.”

(He just wished his face would stop feeling warm. He didn’t need to be blushing from Keith’s stupid hidden insults.)

Keith scowled and huffed, rolling his eyes. “You know what, Lance? Maybe I fucking will. I’m trying to be fucking nice to you, and help you, but you just continue to be an asshole. I’m going to go train, so if you wanna actually stop being a prick and let me help you, I will. Until then, fuck off.”

Being blamed for pushing Keith away, regardless of how accurate it was, was what stung him into speaking up again instead of just letting Keith go; damn his pride.

“What would you even do to try and help me? Don’t pretend like you’re any better than me, or that you give a crap, it’s not like you ever hang out with us if you don’t have to, all you ever wanna do is train all day, and you start shit with me too!” Lance only curled up tighter as he ranted, his body growing tenser, the aching feeling in his chest growing worse. This was one of those moments where he truly felt like he hated Keith.

2. EXPERIENCE

HOW LONG (MONTHS / YEARS?): Hoo boy now here’s where my age shows: I’ve been RPing for 12/13 years. I started when I was either 12 or 13 years old in middle school, so basically half my life now, haha. PLATFORMS YOU’VE USED: Just tumblr. Let’s see, first I ever did was GreatestJournal, followed by LiveJournal. Did a bunch of forum RPs, as well as RPing over IM services like MSN Messenger, AIM, and now Skype. Nowadays I mostly just use Skype and Tumblr. BEST EXPERIENCE: I’m biased but my best RP experiences have prob all been with my best friend of all time ahaha.

3. MUSE  PREFERENCES

FEMALE OR MALE: I mainly RP as male muses, or nonbinary. MULTI OR SINGLE: Single, at least for Tumblr--I’m just not capable of running multiple blogs at once.

4.  WRITING  PREFERENCES

FLUFF, ANGST OR SMUT: It varies based on how I feel at the time, but I can only handle angst if I know there’s gonna be fluff in the end. There’s an Angst Event Horizon where I start feeling like there’s no possible way something can have a happy ending, and when I hit that point I can’t deal with the RP anymore. PLOTS OR MEMES: Both. I keep telling myself I’m gonna do more plot shit but I’m a meme addict and can’t control my impulses. LONG OR SHORT REPLIES: Basically whatever just seems to flow at the time. BEST TIME TO WRITE: ALL DAY ERRY DAY. ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S): AHAHAHAHAHA no. Absolutely not. I only wish I had Lance’s facade of confidence. Or his beautiful skin. I am much, much better healthwise! And in even better news, I finally got a job interview, so wish me luck actually getting it so I can eventually be able to afford stable internet! x___x

In the meantime, I’m finally working on all the drafts I have backed up. Once I’m done, I’ll queue them up to begin posting.

status update and starter call

Most of my sickness seems to be improved, but the past couple of days my sore throat has worsened to the point that drinking any kind of liquids causes an agonizing stinging sensation in my throat. Tonight, with the aid of a flashlight and mirror, I realized that it’s because I’ve somehow developed at least three canker sores in the back of my throat, so at least now I know the source of my misery. My body hates me and everything sucks.

In other news, being stuck lying in bed for nearly a week solid will bore a person out of their fucking mind. Like this for a short starter from sick!Lance because I like making my muse suffer my own problems. Just be warned, I’m on mobile.

“By who?”

The question is croaked out, intended to be snarky but sounding more exhausted than anything else. It’s not like they’ve got a space doctor on call who knows how to deal with human illnesses. And while the healing pod is a charming option, it works primarily by boosting the body’s natural healing responses and energy–unfortunately, with there being so little data on humans or whatever illness Lance is suffering from (ten thousand years will leave a medical database pretty thoroughly out-of-date), it would just as likely wind up boosting whatever is making him sick in the first place, making him even worse.

He knew this from the one time he asked Coran if the pods could heal space flu. Turned out they weren’t as much of a magical cure-all as he’d hoped.

“I don’t - I don’t know, okay?! I just mean you can’t stay cooped up in there like that.” 

There’s clear exasperation in Keith’s tone. He hadn’t been expecting an answer, even if it’s mostly tongue-in-cheek. Though the way Lance’s voice sounds right now, it’s not good at all. Concern courses through him, the current strong enough to dispel any lingering irritation. 

“Hey. Are you… alright in there, man?”

"No," Lance replied dully, getting a little annoyed with Keith in spite of his exhaustion. "I'm sick, Keith." He wanted to added that, by definition, he was Not Okay, but honestly talking more just seemed like too much effort just to wind up in another coughing fit again.

Yes, yes it could, but Lance’s only verbal response–if you could call it that–was to descend into another coughing fit, wet and very, VERY sick sounding as his breath rattled in his chest every time he attempted to inhale, only to force it out again in another violent fit.

When he finally finished coughing enough so he could breathe again, he simply buried his face into his pillow and groaned. Keith could go fuck himself with his own bayard if he wanted to play with it that much, just as long as he left Lance and his miserable sick self well out of it.
