Jayce was a simple man, who took great pleasure in the comforts of home. Sure, he had travelled throughout the continent, relishing in the fame and glory that was showered on him wherever he went, but part of the joy of it all was returning to The Vale, to his mother, to the Arryns. He loved Rowena and the children like his own flesh and blood, and was eternally loyal to Jasper, but he was rarely in the company of the younger brother. He knew his health was frail, and that, combined with Jayce’s busy lifestyle, prevented them from really connecting. Whats more, it became clear from his words that they were fundamentally different people. Jayce paused, mid-sip of his drink, his face contorting into a comical look as he attempted to comprehend it. “I suppose we are,” he admitted, after taking a moment to think. “I had never thought about it in that way, though. It is difficult to think of it as history, when all we are doing is living.”
olyvar had met the knight of nine stars only a few times before, his visits to the eyrie seemed to always be unfortunately timed with the younger arryn’s health. however, he knew that the man was close to jasper and rowena, and for that alone olyvar was certain he was a good man. if he needed any further proof, it was the children, for olyvar usually trusted the judgement of children, one of few groups of people you could rely on for pure honesty. ‘ history is just looking at life from a distance, ’ he gave a slight shrug before reaching for his own glass. he could hear his sister’s words in his head, that perhaps he should lighten up when around others and as fascinating he found some things, that wasn’t always the case for others. ‘ don’t let me bore you with my ramblings on the matter. it is good to see you, lord templeton. how have things been since you were last in our company ? ’
