âThe truth hurts, doesnât it, Lestrange?â
âIs it the truth or just plain denial, Emmeline?â
âI suggest you drop whatever rebuttal you threw together now, unless you want your pride handed to you on a bronze platterâ
âIs that a promise?â
âSixteenth death. Cops clueless. Murderer formless.â @emmclines
The newspaper blared the headlines like neon lights. Rabastan tapped his fingers against the wood of the large table, more or less ignoring his food. Choosing a late breakfast had been strategic for the Slytherin was in no mood to deal with his housemates. Instead, he hovered over the paper, blankly gazing at the photography of the victim. Of course the muggle police were stumped - who would ever expect wizards in such a situation?
âBeers were cracked, so were jaws.â @alectcs
Not for the first time, Rabastan rubbed his split knuckles, barely casting a glance at the Gryffindor on the ground. Despite wanting to enjoy a nice casual drink with his brother, Rabastan had barely wasted a second once the fists started flying, slamming his knuckles right into the jaw of the other boy who had sucker punched his brother. Â Minutes later and Rabastan, sporting a black eye, was back to sitting down on a stool, nursing a beer.
âInactive volcanoes have a hard time warming up. You and your brother are near impossible.â
âNear impossible but not impossible.â
âI prefer you not in my bed.â
âSo cruel, Vance.â
âYes, you. Otherwise, itâs going to remain firmly at one blanket and youâll have to suffer in someone elseâs bed. You do know that you can skip the stairs and just sleep in the common room, right?â
âI prefer your bed to the couches.â
âClearly not much sleeping. âM sorry, are you going to fix my lack of blankets, or are you just going to give disapproving looks? And what, exactly, would you call an adequate number of blankets?â
âMe? Fix your lack of blankets? Considering your bed is much comfier than mine, Iâll perhaps think about it. And at least any number more than one...so five.â
âMore than you, or so it would seem. Does anything actually warm his heart?â
âI would say no. It appears we both have a hard time warming up.â
âI donât. At least, not for when Iâm sleeping.â
âVance, what are you doing with your life? Iâm disappointed in your lack of blankets.â
Emmeline Vance: You have a morbid sense of fun.
Rabastan Lestrange: That's probably true...
âMaybe to you, but I - like most people - happen to like not sharing a blanket.â
âWho doesnât have more than one blanket?â
âI have. Thatâs how I know he can handle himself. Why, are you afraid heâll get into some trouble and youâll have to miss out on the fun?â
âYouâve got a lot of faith in my brother, Avery. Iâm sure itâll warm his heart.â
âSure, whatever you want to call it. What do you want me to do, get down on my knees and beg for your help, because I really donât see that happening.âÂ
âIÂ donât have any expectation of you getting on your knees to beg. Would never do that to another pureblood.â

â : Name at least two people who can trust them with their life.
Rodolphus and Lucius.
âŁ: Describe a way that will earn affection (whether platonic or romantic) from them.
Donât try and fake it with Rabastan. Bravado can only get you so far, Rabastan has no patience for his time being wasted. Be straightforward and honest with him. Acknowledge that Rodolpus is very important to him. When it comes to competition between the two, Rabastan will always step back and let Rodolphus get what he wants. Instinctively, he has more of a tolerance for the kids he grew up with because heâs known them so long and some of the Slytherin pureblood know how bad the parents can be. Be unapologetically who you are - he can respect that.Â
â : Describe a way to make them uneasy or apprehensive.
Badmouth his brother, honestly. Attempt to pretend to know anything about his family.
