When she's run out of the only home she's ever known Cassette runs off to travel the world, to find a new home, try and shake off the bounty hunter trailing her, and, incidentally, discover things about her world no one else knows...

Second Wind is an upcoming webcomic following Cassette after her exile from the House of Aries, who raised her since she was a kit. As the comic has not started yet, you'll mostly be seeing worldbuilding and character refs for now. However, I will announce when it will start!

WARNING - This comic will contain blood, gore, some body horror, and cults. Please be mindful!

Empire Info - Cross-Empire Relations

Because they are currently in an era of peace, the empires of Felyi commonly mingle. This does not mean there are not tensions, however. After the great war, the empires were all on high guard around each other. Although it has mellowed out, being of a different empire than your birthplace will raise you some looks, especially if you are geographically far away (ex. an Imthian in Fjorian territory).

Empires sorted from most to least accepting of outsiders: Daws, Paradise, Byssal, Aethyr, Imthia, Fjori, Vacxxa. Vacxxa is a special case, no outsiders are allowed into their tunnels, period.

These rankings also apply to cross-empire relationships, although views on cross-empire relationships tend to be more lax.

With all empires being the same species, just different subspecies, cats from different empires can crossbreed. Hybrids are known as "crossblooded", as they have blood across empires. Crossblooded cats have a mixture of their parent empires traits (ex. a Dawnian and Paradisian crossblood might have a large build and feather tassels). Crossbloods tend to have a hard time fitting into either of their parent empires.

High Priest Bismuth - She/her

Imithian - cisgender - heterosexual

One-third of the Council of Aries, and currently the oldest member of it. She is a cold, calculated cat, her gaze piercing and her mind laser-focused on her goals. She is the one who gives morning prayers, mostly to exert her control over the House of Aries, and because it's a prime time to spot dissenters.

Vacxian - trans boy - aroace

Cassette's best friend and honorary younger brother. Where she goes, he is soon to follow. He's optimistic, friendly, and outgoing, much unlike other members of his empire. However, he is quite naive, and this can lead him to sticky situations.

Asher - He/it

Imithian - agender - bisexual

The House of Aries's most dutiful bounty hunter. Aries's perfect weapon. Its claws are honed to sharp points, more blood coating its paws than you'd think possible, and it wouldn't have it any other way. When it comes to Aries xymself, Asher is what you would call a zealot. The House of Aries has its paws firmly around his mind and neck.

Its current target is Cassette. How dare she turn her back on those who took in and raised her?

Our main character. Cassette is a nervous, kind soul, a welcoming face in the restrictive House of Aries. After being labelled a dessenter and exiled for helping out a growing rebellion, she seeks a new home and safety from the one pursuing her, on of the finest bounty hunters there is, Asher.

Empire Intros - Paradise

Demonym - Paradisian

Paradise is the empire located in the thick rainforest of Felyi. The winged cats there are uniquely adapted, taking more after their avian ancestors.

Paradisian cats are small, the smallest empire in body size. They have long, lithe builds and agile paws for scaling trees, which their strongly curved claws also help with. Their fur is short and fine, usually being bright oranges, golds, or golden browns. Paradisian cats are usually rosetted, spotted tabby, sokoke tabby, or tricolor/tortoiseshell.

Paradisian cats have, by far, the most ornemantation out of any empire. They have distinct "feather tassels" on their cheeks and tails, similar to structures seen in some birds of paradise. Along with that, their ears are tipped with small feather fans. Their feathers are brightly colored, having an iridescent sheen on the edges of them. Paradisian cats have small fangs that protrude out of their mouths.

Paradisian cats are cathemeral, active whenever and wherever.

Empire Intros - Daws

Demonym - Dawnian

Daws is the empire located in the far-spreading temperate forests of Felyi. The winged cats there are highly versatile, adapted for their forest environment in many ways.

Dawnian cats have large, stocky bodies with thick, powerful limbs. They are the second largest in size, second only to Fjorian cats. Their wings are small, but are still able to carry their large bodies, though the method is unknown. They have thick pelts, usually being shades of brown, dark gray, or black in color. They are usually solid, classic tabby, or ticked tabby.

Dawnian cats have large paws and soft pawpads to cushion their movements. Additionally, their claws are large and sturdy, being hard to damage or break. They are omnivorous, being opportunistic feeders. Dawnian cats hibernate through colder months.

Dawnian cats are diurnal, rising with the sun.
