Hey TFC team!! I hope you all are taking care of yourselves (especially Neko), you all are doing a great work.

If this gets answered first I wanted to say how much I love this project and all the love put in it, seriously, I know this takes a lot of time and effort, especially when it's only one person working on all of it.

1. Okay so this might be a little crazy question, but do we will have any more 'interesting' interactions with Natanael/the boss in the future? xD

2. Do our character/mc/the player, in the future get to collect more pins from the other members?

3. What was Harlequin family like? (You don't have to specify much, I know this might be a little risky question).

I hope this questions don't make anyone uncomfortable or something, obviously feel free to avoid them if they could spoil anything. Anyway, take care Moderators and Neko. <3

General Updates Again!

A summary of all the recent updates until I start working on the game code!

Store

First, about the store let me explain it better. I am working on it and getting some help with it, but to operate it I need a certificate that hasn’t been finalized yet. (I didn’t know running an online store would be this complicated >.>"") In the meantime, I’m testing different suppliers for keychains, tickets, and other small items.

I’ll post more about this when the time comes, so don’t worry!

Script

The script is finally finished! It ended up at 76 pages (the previous chapter had 47 pages). But keep in mind this is because of the multiple routes you can take, so I’m not entirely sure how long each route is individually.

Now I’ll start reviewing it completely! That means I need to read and revise every page (I might have some help with that as well). During this process, all dialogue is adjusted to better fit each character, I check if all routes are properly connected, and I’ll also update that map I showed before. This is also where I might remove or add parts to the script.

At the moment, this update includes 1 new bad ending and 2 new hidden scenes (there might be more after the full script revision). You’ll be able to interact with almost all (living) characters (although the boss has a small scene that I’m not sure if it will be expanded in this update or added in the next one).

Pierrot Plush

Good news, everyone! Gimme Swag has managed to get a more accurate version of Pierrot! Just the hair and a star in his hat needs to be adjusted this time, and then it will be the final version ready for production!

Keep an eye on your emails for updates on when the next phase will begin, and for the total cost of the plush to be charged! Those who couldn't participate will also be able to buy it, as it will be available for a while at the Gimme Swag store, and I'll let you know as soon as it's there!

Primeiro, sobre a loja, deixe-me explicar melhor. Estou trabalhando nela e recebendo alguma ajuda, mas para operá-la eu preciso de um certificado que ainda não foi finalizado. (Eu não sabia que administrar uma loja online seria tão complicado >.>"" )

Roteiro

O roteiro finalmente está pronto! Ele acabou ficando com 76 páginas (o capítulo anterior tinha 47 páginas). Mas tenha em mente que isso acontece por causa das múltiplas rotas que você pode seguir, então não tenho certeza de quanto cada rota dura individualmente.

Agora vou começar a revisá-lo completamente! Isso significa que preciso ler e revisar cada página (talvez eu tenha alguma ajuda nisso também). Durante esse processo, todos os diálogos são ajustados para se encaixar melhor em cada personagem, eu verifico se todas as rotas estão conectadas corretamente e também vou atualizar aquele mapa que mostrei antes. Esse também é o momento em que posso remover ou adicionar partes ao roteiro.

No momento, esta atualização inclui 1 novo final ruim e 2 novas cenas secretas (pode haver mais depois da revisão completa do roteiro). Você poderá interagir com quase todos os personagens (vivos) (embora o chefe tenha uma cena pequena que ainda não tenho certeza se será expandida nesta atualização ou adicionada na próxima).

Pelúcia do Pierrot

Boas notícias, pessoal! A Gimme Swag conseguiu fazer uma versão mais fiel do Pierrot! Só o cabelo e uma estrela no chapéu precisam ser ajustados desta vez, e então será a versão final pronta para produção! Fiquem de olho nos seus e-mails para atualizações sobre quando a próxima fase vai começar e sobre o custo total da pelúcia a ser cobrado!

Quem não pôde participar também poderá comprar, ele ficará disponível por um tempo na loja da Gimme Swag, e eu aviso assim que estiver lá!

So, we know that Pierrot and Harlequin were the first members of the circus to meet. Would they both have been considered children at that time, or were they already young adults? Hello! They were just kids back then, they met by chance when Pierrot was, uhm... “fishing.” They just stared at each other until one of them took the first step and started talking! Obrigado pela gentileza! Acho que o inglês realmente facilita para a maioria que fala outros idiomas! x3

I’ve been wondering, though this probably is a stupid question. Are there any other ‘deceased’ members of the circus? Other than Columbina? Like, when they were still locked up? Were there ever others?

I know I know this is a stupid question, but it just came to my mind and hasn’t left. So sorry if I’m causing you any extra trouble🥺

Hello! There were no other members, but while they were in cages, they did get to see the “trophies” of others of their kind who hadn’t been so lucky.

We appreciate it so much, in fact, that we are excited to announce that there is now an official masterlist for The Freak Circus! It will be linked on the masterlist/info page here and contain any and all important information, a more in-depth FAQ about game and character lore, and an organization/filtering system that could make even Ticket Taker blush!

And a certain cat tells me he’s getting the rest of AMA Round 2 Part 6 finished, and perhaps he’ll post an extra AMA right after as a treat…

And we won’t take the credit for this wonderful resource, as it was created and is currently maintained by @iwasbibliomaniac, who has been wonderful to work with ever since we initially posted on this blog about trying to create a proper masterlist we could officially host or use. Creating a masterlist for any piece of media takes a lot of hard work and passion, and The Freak Circus is no different of a fandom— especially when there’s so many little bits non-required but really cool information found outside the game!

In this vein, we’d like to thank @neurthewanderer and @purple-plum-petals for their efforts into the masterlists they had both individually made early-on in the game’s release and life. Several of the moderators themselves even used and referenced those lists when we discovered the game and began making fan content, and we’ve heard of many people who grew to love the game more after discovering those lists themselves! And to all other creators, artists and passionate fans who made resources themselves we simply didn’t come across somewhere: THANK YOU! That passion is what inspires other creators, and it’s an absolutely humbling thing to see in fandom!

So while we ask for forgiveness in having to keep the askbox closed again this weekend, hopefully this wonderful resource can answer some of the questions you all have while we’re working through the asks we have yet to answer!

Hello, Neko! Thank you so much for creating this game. It's amazing♡ So, the question is: How did the circus performers meet each other? Were they born and raised together, or did their paths gradually cross?

Hello! x3 None of them were born together or even near each other at a certain point in their lives, they gradually found each other and ended up settling in a temporary place. When they finally felt comfortable staying together, the man arrived.

You’ll soon see more about how some of them met in some of the AMA answers!

General update!

The script is currently at 45 pages and almost finished. Basically, there are at least 3 more scenes left to write. After that, I’ll begin the revision and editing process!

As I mentioned before, this is the stage where I organize everything for programming, and I usually end up adding or cutting some scenes. Once the revision is complete, I’ll finally be able to start programming!

The good part is that there are already many sprites done to use, so it might not be too difficult. (The bad part is...you guys know me, I’ll probably make more to improve immersion >.>)

To help myself stay organized, I also made an imagemap to separate the routes. It’s VERY difficult to organize all the routes so that one doesn’t interfere with another. (Just like last time, when Harlequin showed up in scenes he wasn’t supposed to…)

Yep! it's completely blur just to give you guys an idea of the scale of things, and it's not even finished yet, since I haven't finished writing the script to tie the final scenes together and wrap everything up! There are also lots of unique dialogues, like on Day 2, that need to be arranged in the right order!

In the meantime, I’m also working on their monster designs, since I plan to show them in the game. The current silhouettes will gradually gain more details until the right moment! about the shop: I was planning to launch it this week or next, but I decided to wait due to some legal concerns. Many products from my game have been sold without authorization, because of that, I’m looking for professional guidance to better understand copyright and the proper steps to protect my work now and in the future. With this knowledge, I’ll make sure that any future agreements or permissions are in the best interest of myself, the game, and the characters! About Pierrot Plush:

It seems there were delays due to the end-of-year holidays, and now they’re having some difficulties getting Pierrot’s hat just right. The company told me they’ll send photos as soon as they have a more accurate sample for me to show you all!

I’m a bit concerned about these delays… but as a last resort, if things don’t go as planned, I can still request a full refund for everyone and try another campaign.

Hello! You’ll get a glimpse into their past depending on your choices in the game, and some of the AMAS coming out soon also reveal details about their past!

The idea of a comic about this in the future is also a possibility! There’s a lot about their reunion that might not be fully shown in the game, and I’d love to share it! x3
