Varian died a little inside. The last ‘brother to brother’ conversation they had was about why holding hands doesn’t lead to babies and other ways to get them.

Eugene closed the door, waltzing in. Like usual, he kept trying to touch the various experiments Varian had going, leading to his hand being slapped away about ten times before he spoke, “Did you see your mail?”

“No actually, I don’t read it,” Varian sighed, choosing to go back to his experiment. Now this was interesting, trying to see if he could use cobalt in the next firework show—

Eugene thrust five envelopes into his hand, each with a different nations crest on it, “Can you start reading your mail now?”

Varian groaned, but obliged, tearing each of them open. What a mistake.

They were all letters about suitors wanting to court him.

Now he was really going to be sick.
