The Raven Cycle tv series but 2D animated

I truly feel like this might be the way to actually execute the story and get the aura as close to the books. This series is so full of everything (whimsy, humor, dramatics, etc etc etc) that animation just might deliver almost everything to perfection. I don’t know, I feel like it would be so hard to nail everything live action bc there are so many limitations (I know there are many limitations with animation too but I think it’s less than a live action????). Like let’s talk about how the casting would turn out which is such a big factor into how the entire series would play out: My absolute favorite thing about this entire series is how well the teenage characters are written. They feel and act and talk like ACTUAL TEENAGERS. That is such an essential part to the story and adds to the tone of it. We all know production teams fucking love casting twenty something year olds to play teenagers, and often, from what we’ve seen already with many book to movie/show adaptations, they age up the characters but I cannot see how the characters would be aged up in a story like this because the characters being teenagers IS SO ESSENTIAL TO THE STORY. Henceforth, animation would be best IMO. I do think that a lot of fanart has influenced this thought bc I can’t really imagine a live action TRC tv show. Also 2D animation bc in my opinion, they just look soooooo much better than 3D animation.

Love that AFTG is from Neil's POV. If it was from Andrew's POV it would have been this dramatic slow burn/unrequited love story about Andrew balancing his feelings for the new kid with his past trauma while said new kid is utterly oblivious to it. Also exy is there. And the mafia. But instead we see it from Neil's POV who gives the same level of importance to his mob boss serial killer father who is after to him to exy and to Andrew. One chapter is like "graphic description of Neil being tortured by the mafia" then the next is "Andrew and Neil have a homoerotically charged conversation on the roof" and then the next is "the Foxes play a game of exy" and every single one is treated with the same degree of respect because that's just what Neil's like. Amazing.
