Yor being dimwitted “all muscle, no brain” is played as a joke at times but never in a way that humiliates her, if anything it uplifts her character as the audience knows she took it upon herself to get Yuri educated in sacrifice of her own. She’s too gullible and naive for someone who’s an assassin but she’s so selfless, endlessly kind and is always ready to sacrifice herself for someone she loves, be it her brother or her family or other people.
There’s this panel in the Cruise Arc that hurt me where she’s out of her wits, almost letting herself be killed thinking Yuri can take care of himself now and that nobody needs her anymore. It’s like there’s no point to her life if she can’t be useful to anyone and when faced with death, only then she realises her own desire for herself: to live happily with the family she has with Loid and Anya. She found another use for the strength she developed as an assassin, and it’s to protect them. Even until the end, she chose to live for the people she loves but this time it’s also for herself.
I rarely see strong women in fiction be written with so much depth as Yor Forger and I love her so much.
