Conclusion

My final thoughts about the novel Stones On A Grave would have to be that, a negative situation could be the out come of something positive. This book has taught me never to loose hope even when you feel you’re in the worse state. Also, while reading this book I have discovered new words that I haven’t used before. I would recommend this book to a lot of people especially to teenagers that need help finding themselves. I would honestly rate this book with 4 stars and I hope that this book can inspire others.

MY OPINION

People may say this book is boring because it involves history but I really enjoyed it. I liked this book because it makes you have another out look on life and how the generation has changed over the past decades. I also have a interest in the holocaust so its cool to know how Sara found out knew things about herself.

Summary # 2

After the orphanage burns down, Sara discovered her medical certificate and had the opportunity to go to Germany. When Sara arrives in Germany she discovered her heritage as being Jewish but she doesn’t know what effect that has on her. Luckily , Sara went to Germany after the Holocaust because she would have been stuck in a knot. With the help of Frau Klein she was able to discover information about her mother. In the end, Sara opens up to the world and has a better understanding of who she really is.

On pg. 111, Sara’s feelings really broke my heart because she wanted to know why she was abandoned as a child. Sara has no idea who her father is and she doesn’t know weather her mother is alive or not. Sara dearly hopes that her mom is still alive so that she has a better view on why her life is the way it is.

Kay Delany , 55, had lost her memory after a freak fall at work hitting her head and losing 20 years of her memory. She doesn’t remember taking care of her children, she believe she’s 30 years old and in the year 1990, she doesn’t remember when she gave birth to her children and she believes they are still young kids which they are all grown now. I chose Kay’s story because it related to the book Blank because Jessica had also lost her memory and didn’t remember anything like how Kay had forgot a lot of things too and they both have similarities when it came to that.

Real life connection

In my book i could make many different connections but I am going to focus on something that happened recently. A friend of mine found out her father lived close by her so she decided to go find him since she hasn’t seen him for almost 7 years now due to separation between him and his ex wife . when she finally found him , it brought tears to her eyes because she really missed him and shes also hoping that one day her mom and him would get back together in the future.

In my opinion, I really did enjoy the book a big dose of lucky. I like the fact this book was also facing real life situations.This book made a big impact about finding out who you are. This book talked about the concept of every teenager struggles with at some point in their life. Malou one of my favourite character, in the book she answered many questions about her passed life. Although Malou answers many questions about her past, there are still some issues left unresolved. As we grow older we learn that life’s not far and that it’s isn’t easy either. I think the author did a really good job writing this book.

6. A Connection

In chapter 11, Sara had traveled a very long way in search for her mother. When she reached her destination, she was told to leave. Sara really did not like that because she knew there was more to discover. This reminds me of the time when I traveled all the way to Vaughn Mills for work, then get asked to work another shift at Yorkdale. It was very surprising and unexpected because I struggled to make sure I was on time for that specific shift. I understand Sara’s frustration, but at the same time you have be prepared for the unexpected.

A Reminder

This photo reminds me of when the girls finally found a temporary home to stay and it was a relief for them. Dot and Tess fell on the bed feeling like they haven’t slept in years. “This bed felt like a warm summer day. She flopped down onto the bed, wondering when was the last time she had slept” - pg. 109

FREE WRITE # 1

In this book, I have read about a young girl and her orphanage siblings being homeless and not having a place to live.This certain part of the book reminds me of a show called The Fosters. In this show, a girl and her brother have trouble staying in a secure home without having issues. I think that these two problems have the same relations.

Character

The character I find interesting is Luke. He is Sara’s boyfriend and he seems very mysterious. He is tall with blue eyes, and nice sparkly teeth. He may seem very appealing from the outside but he is very dark on the inside. Sara likes how unique and different he is.

Summary # 1

After reading a few chapters of Stones a Grave, I have come to realize that the main character, Sara has a lot on her mind and seems to be very stressed out. While living in a orphanage with seven other girls, the house set on fire in the middle of the night. As everyone exited the big house they stood there in shock and just watched as the house burnt down to pieces. I find the book interesting because it makes you want to know what will happen next.

Novel : Stones on a Grave

My name is Ama, I attend James Cardinal McGuigan as a grade 12 student. I am reading this book named Stones On A Grave by Kathy Kacer for my ISU project. This book is about a Jewish girl who moves to Germany without speaking the language. While looking for her mother, she doesn't know what it means to be Jewish in the 1960's. But with the help of a handsome gentleman she begins to learn the what she's headed into. When I picked up this book and read the back, I was excited to begin my journey of reading because I have a interest WWII, and the Holocaust. Don't forget that romance is what tops it all! I will continue to post about this novel as I go through my journey.
